Avoid these people like the plague. They total ruined the entire room with their inferior work and materials. Ripples in the ceiling that looked like ocean waves. The central peak of the ceiling was so jagged and crooked, a drunken sailor could have done it better. After multiple attempts, Da Rosa's "Top Guy" at repairing the issues, the owner, Freddy Da Rosa, just said let the painters fix it. These hackers never, ever fixed anything properly. Now the ceiling plaster is falling down in sheets and falling all over the cabinets and floor. When I called their insurance company, I find out this Da Rosa Construction has no workmanship liability. The agent said materials only. Because their insurance says this may not be covered, I'll be stuck replacing all the sheet rock and re-plastering the entire kitchen now. This after over $35,000 worth of custom cherry wood cabinets, $15,000 worth of granite counter tops and $35,000 worth of stainless appliances are already in place. AVOID DA ROSA.
Description of Work: This company was hired to do sheet rock and plastering of a 700 square foot kitchen with vaulted ceilings.

AMAZING HOW CONFUSED ALOT OF THE MEMBER'S "FACTS" ARE. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED: OUR COMPANY WAS CONTRACTED FROM A BUILDER TO DO A PLASTERING JOB AT HIS HOME FOR $4995 FOR A GARAGE + KITCHEN AREA. STARTED JOB ON JULY 11 2006, UPON START OF JOB TWO ADDITIONAL ITEMS WERE ADDED ABOVE OUR WRITTEN PROPOSAL. 1)EXTRA BOARD+PLASTER FOR EXTRA GARAGE WALLS 2) CHANGE GARAGE FINISH FROM TEXTURED TO SMOOTH FINISH. TOTAL EXTRA WAS $1045, NEW CONTRACT TOTAL WAS $6040. MONDAY JULY 17, PLASTERED THE CATHEDRAL CEILING + ROUNDED CENTRAL PEAK LINE BECAUSE FRAMING LINE WAS VERY CROOKED. PLASTER SET QUICKLY ON CATHEDRAL CEILING BECAUSE OF HIGH AIR TEMP (COVENTRY RI> TEMPERATURE WAS RECORDED 91 DEGREES ON 7/17/06) AND SINCE HEAT RISES, TEMPERATURE WAS LIKELY OVER 100 DEGREES ON CEILING, THIS HIGH TEMP CAUSED PLASTER TO SET VERY QUICKLY. EARLY AUGUST CUSTOMER CALLED TO COMPLAIN THAT CATHEDRAL LINE WAS ROUND AND WANTED IT TO COME TO A PEAK LINE, IMMEDIATELY I SENT THE FIELD SUPERVISOR JOHN AND ANOTHER PLASTERER TED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, HE SKIMMED AFFECTED AREAS OF A QUICK PLASTER SET AND CHANGED ROUNDED PEAK LINE TO A POINT, THIS WAS COMPOUNDED BY THE CROOKED FRAMING LINE. *ALSO> I AM THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY, AND MY NAME IS FREDDY DA ROSA, AND I HAD AT NO TIME MET THE MEMBER AND HAVE NO IDEA ON HIS COMMENT THAT HE MET ME AT THE JOB AND I STATED "LET THE PAINTERS FIX IT" THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT AND I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT. I PERSONALLY NEVER MET HIM BECAUSE AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE BY MID AUGUST I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. BY MID AUGUST MY FIELD SUPERVISOR STATED THAT HE WAS SATISIFIED, AND WE CALLED THE BUILDER FOR FINAL PAYMENT OF $1045. WE CALLED THE BUILDER 32 TIMES IN THE FALL OF 2006, AND EVERY TIME THE BUILDER STATED THAT HE HAD NOT BEEN PAID BY THE MEMBER, AND HE WOULD PAY US ONCE HE RECEIVED PAYMENT. AFTER OUR REPAIR IN AUG 2006 WE NEVER HEARD OF ANY COMPLAINTS FROM THE BUILDER OR THE MEMBER, UNTIL OVER 1 YEAR LATER IN SEPT 2007, WHEN WE RECEIVED A CALL THAT THERE WAS DELAMINATION OF THE PLASTER FROM THE BLUEBOARD ON THE CEILING. WE CALLED THE GOLD BOND REP AND HE CONFIRMED LOSS OF BOND WAS BECAUSE OF HIGH TEMPERATURE CAUSING RAPID DRYING. WE CALLED THE BUILDER AND ADVISED THAT THE BEST THING WOULD BE TO REINSTALL BLUEBOARD AND REPLASTER IT, WE DID THIS ALL AT OUR EXPENSE, EVEN THOUGH THIS PROJECT AT THIS TIME STILL HAD AN OPEN BALANCE OVER A YEAR OF $1045, IT STILL HAS NEVER BEEN PAID. WE NEVER HAD ANY PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE BUILDER, AND THE HOMEOWNER WAS POLITE DURING THIS REPAIR. THE PROBLEM WE FEEL IS THE CONFUSION OF THE FACTS, AND THIS HASTY INCORRECT STATEMENT MADE BY THE MEMBER TO THE EFFECT THAT WE WERE PASSING THE BUCK IS SO UNTRUE! WE RETURN ALL OUR CALLS PROMPTLY AND NEVER AVOID CONTACT WITH ANYONE, WE NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL. WE TRY TO KEEP OUR ALL CUSTOMERS HAPPY, AND HAVE WORKED IN EVERY CITY + TOWN IN RI & EASTERN MA, AND HAVE A LONG LIST OF SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. WE TAKE OFFENSE TO HIS STATEMENTS ABOUT US AND IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT HE FELT HE HAD TO GO TO SUCH EXTREMES. I DO HOPE UPON REFLECTION OF THESE FACTS HE ADJUSTS HIS STATEMENTS TO REFLECT MORE ACCURATELY WHAT OCCURRED.
