We did not end up using them but they responded quickly and were professional in their communication.

Intermittent responsiveness to emails and phone calls. His topsoil compost treatment included numerous pieces of shells. I’ve also found small pieces of metal in our yard as well. He did offer to come rake the yard from it but some of these pieces are too small to rake and ultimately there is no other solution proposed. The prices are definitely much higher than other folks probably due to the organic nature of things but I have to say after a year of this service by lawn does not look any better if not worse. When I mentioned that I wanted to cancel service there is no concern about keeping us as a customer or customer service. Either he’s too busy and has too many customers or doesn’t care about keeping customers around.

James came to our home to talk about our plans to improve our backyard and add a patio/fire pit and walkway. He said that he would figure out pricing and get back to me, but I never got an estimate, follow-up or any communication after this meeting. Needless to say, we will be going with another company.

Excellent! When neighbors' lawns are turning brown, ours is green. The lawn greens up quickly in the spring and remains green well into the fall. It contains plants like clover in addition to grass (a good thing), which took some getting used to. And our pets are safe on the lawn.

All work was done very well and as expected. Workers were excellent to have around my home. Tree came down exactly where they planned to have it fall, they then cut up the tree and left if for firewood as requested. The old step had to be removed, the supports redone, then a new large piece of bluestone put in. Looks wonderful now. The walkway had become wobbly because of the roots of a nearby tree, making them move when people walked on them and a hazard. They removed the roots causing the issue, the walkway is again even and the tree has continued to be fine.

They did a beautiful job and completed the patio work in only a couple of days. They also completed some nice lawn work and edging.

We are very satisfied with the landscaping work Organic Soil Solutions did for us. They were timely and the before/after pictures are stunning. We approached Organic because of their belief in natural lawn treatment and treating soil and yards as a living breathing systems, not cookie cutter lawns that require pesticides, over watering, etc. They are responsive and have great ideas.

Unhappy with results. Lawn looks worse overall (increase in bare spots, *rampant* crabgrass) than when we started. Folksy pamphlets telling me what is happening with my lawn care are nice, but not more important than actually doing what it takes to achieve tangible results, which were poor in my case. Additional Notes: Contract states core aeration would be performed "if needed." Never happened on my lawn, though it is standard fall event with other contractors. When I wrote owner and asked to end contract, no concern for what he could be doing better or why I am electing to cancel service. Just an "OK, Good Luck." I expect more than the bare minimum for my money.

We are very pleased with the mowing and organic soil treatments. Organic Soil Solutions is owned by Mike Murphy, who is intelligent and very knowledgeable about the needs of grass and soil. After each treatment, the worker puts an 8 1/2" x 11" printed sheet in our mailbox detailing what was done and what the purpose of the treatment is. This helps to educate us as what our grass and soil needs are. The company believes in "mowing high" so that our grass stays healthy and doesn't get as brown in hot weather. They mow reliably and come regularly. The yard always looks wonderful when they finish. Mike has treated some broad-leaf weeds with an organic solution that has helped to kill them. The company planted approximately 30 Hicks Yews around the perimeter of our backyard a few years ago. Because the plants sold to them from a nursery were not healthy (Org. Soil Solutions had an arborist come to look at the roots), they all died. They were replaced with healthy plants at no cost to us and these plants are doing beautifully. The following year we had more yews planted on another side of our lot and they, too, are doing very well. They were all planted very neatly, in a very straight line, and in exactly the places we wanted them. The snow plowing, just started last year, is going well. We appreciate having our sidewalks cleared as well as our long driveway free of snow. They do a fine job at this, in a timely fashion after a snowstorm. We have found the responsiveness of Organic Soil Solutions to be especially exemplary. Mike or his son, James, are easy to reach and they respond to requests and any problems in a very timely fashion. We find Mike/James easy to get along with and really nice people, as well as being professional and capable in the landscaping business.

Pre-tested the lawn before administering any products to determine the treatment. They injected the organic compound into the soil and did so with precision. The outcome was well appreciated. They have revisited the process on additional occasions to continue treatment.

The original re-seeding of my front yard went well, but year two I still have major gaps in my lawn and there are patches that were burnt on my back lawn, where the grass was well established over many years. The second year they didn't come until the third week of October to over seed. I called a couple of times and they told me they have hundreds of customers to take care of. While I understand 2015 was a difficult year weather-wise, it seems to me they don't have enough staff to take care of the customers they have. Over seeding in late October doesn't allow enough time to germinate and the grass to grow, and it never did. I gave them two years, and was hopeful with the organic treatment my lawn would show improvement, but this was not the case. For the kind of money they charge, I expected much better.

Mike was great from the beginning of our correspondence! I chose his company because he fully embraces the organic lawn care. We had been managing our lawn personally but this past summer drought and infestation of crabgrass & grubs took their tole on our lawn & me! We prefer to use organic lawn care and have had great success using nematodes to control grub problems. But we needed an overhaul on our soil to really make the necessary improvement needed to have a happy lawn. Mike is very knowledgable on all aspects of organic lawn care and continues his education attending seminars for organic soil solutions. Based on the soil test, Mike and his team followed up with core aerating our lawn and slice seeding/fertilizing. I must say that their machines did an amazing jjob. The cores were a nice depth and the slice seeder really cut into the soil and placed the grass seed neatly in its wake. (We tried a slice seeder from Home Depot a year ago and it was terrible quality and a waste of time.) I had a few questions for Mike regarding how to water and care for the newly planted grass seeds and what other follow up they would be coming back to do. Mike replied back very quickly...and even on a holiday weekend! It was much appreciated! I'm happy to report that as of today, Oct 31, the grass seed has filled in all the grub damaged spots nicely and filled in the overall yard making for a thicker grass cover. We are looking forward to starting the spring with a happy new lawn!! Thanks Organic Soil Solutions!

They did it belatedly, It was paid previously.

They did the planting okay but did not put new top soil on yet they were supposed to. I tried to email them about the top soil but they didn't respond. They said they had to order the bushes that I wanted so it took a little while but I got it in the end. I paid extra charges for the planting and the bushes.

My lawn looked awful after the May drought. The first call I made was to a guy who did our neighbors lawn that look like a golf course greenway. He quoted $2,500 for my 1,500 sq ft lawn plus I had to get my own soil guy. I wasn't crazy about the price or the fact that there were so many chemicals were involved. Then I found out our neighbors had a bunch of issues with their lawn so they had to pour more money into it. I hired Mike in June and now my lawn is coming in nicely. They leave a detailed note of what they did each time they come by. Organic lawn care seems to be a no brainer.

The two man crew worked fast and hard and did a great job in just two hours. I am looking forward to working with Organic Soil Solutions again in the near future.

The service provided was from an Angie's List special (4 hours of yard work). It was easy to set up a date and time with Mike. Alfredo and his colleague were polite and professional. I had a long list which I didn't think they'd get through, but they did everything on the list and more! I would happily use them again.

Everything from responsiveness to flexibility to service is excellent. As long as you follow Mike's easy instructions for how to care for your lawn, you'll see great results!

Mike and his company have been fantastic to work with. Not only does our yard look infinitely better, but I am confident that with continued treatment by them over the next few years it will only get better. Additionally, Mike has been incredibly responsive to my questions and concerns, and his knowledge is tremendous. We are thrilled to have found Organic Soil Solutions and look forward to working with them for years to come.

One year ago in October, our lawn looked disgusting. It was full of large open bare spots and significant portions were brown. This October, after a growing season of organic care and feeding from Organic Soil Solutions, it looks AWESOME! It is green, thick and lush. And, yes, it does have a few weeds (e.g., clover, sheep sorel, and an occasional dandelion). But, there are NO bare spots. A number of our neighbors have commented on how good the lawn looks and have asked us who our lawn service is. I have to admit that I was questioning the organic approach in July-August when there was a fairly large invasion of spurge weed that was trying to fill in the bare spots. However, after the second overseeding and plenty of water (3 times a day for 10 minutes at a time), the grass filled in and won the battle of the spurge. I am very optimistic about the organic approach, and am interested to see how our lawn fairs in year 2 of the process. We had a very positive experience with Organic Soil Solutions and plan to go with them again next year. Bottom line: Organic lawn care + regular watering + mowing high (~ 2 inches) works. Our lawn made dramatic improvements in 1 year. However, you will have a few weeds. Get used to it. But, we are no longer applying toxic chemicals to our lawn that can get on us and our son when they are on the grass and then wash off into the street and into the storm sewer path the the rivers, lakes, and ocean. Beautiful lawn. Better for our health and the environment. Sounds pretty good to me.

Initial contact was of a reasonable length from the my first inquiry. The owner, Mike, appraised our lawn's need and sent a quote. It was intimated from our speaking with him and information gleamed from his website that going organic and paying about 25% more for treatments over our regular chemical provider would achieve equal if not surpassed results. This is absolutely not true. Our lawn had a large amount of grab crass and weeds - to the extent that our neighbors complained we were not keeping our lawn to the standards set by the neighborhood. Please Note: When we complained, Mike told us that he could not guarantee a better result than what we were achieving and kindly reimbursed our entire investment. If your desire is to use an organic company regardless of the outcome - and I know there are many people whose dedication to "organic" solutions is more important to them than putting up with crabgrass - then Organic Soil Solutions is for you. The respect for and attention to the customer is without equal.

I am just starting out but I remember we have used them through a community organization that I work with. They are just giving me a price quote so I haven't really heard back from them yet, but they are coming out this week. It will be my first time to use them personally, but professionally they have done some work in Roslindale. I was director of this organization and they did a lot of work. They were very attentive and thorough, they followed up, and provided soil reports, and things like that were really accessible so it was nice. We went with them because of their organic treatment. We were looking for someone who would do organic soil treatment.

We bought the house last fall and it had a very nice lawn. We wanted an organic service and saw that they had good reviews on AL so we decided to move forward; easy decision. We signed up for the annual prepay to get the discount and they came out in April for the first application. We have noticed a lot of weeds and dandelions so I called Mike. He must have been in the middle of something because he was very distracted. I told him of the situation and he paused for at least 10 seconds. He said that they do not have a solution for dandelions and certain weeds. I was thiknking that he might want to come out to check on the lawn and see what they might be able to do to adjust their program. While we are not sticklers for perfection, the lawn looks bad, certainly worse than the fall and I can imagine that the hard winter had something to do with it. But Mike's matter-of-fact way of dismissing my concern and his immediate offer to refund the balance of my prepay made the decision to cancel and find an alternate service an easy one.

Very Professional! workers were kind enough to remove stray toys out of the yard and didnt complain when my 4 year old kept asking them questions about what they were doing! We a work in progress. Was in pretty bad shape to begin with. There's actually grass growing this year! They are definitely coming back. cant wait to see how things have grown by summer!

The team came once or twice a month to seed, to fertilize, to rake and clear the lawn. After each visit, Mike would leave a letter explaining what was done and how we could help the lawn. They basically gave us our lawn back. And, it's all organic!! If we had questions or changes to our service, we'd call Mike. He is passionate about organic lawn care and always listened to our requests.
