I was determined to replace my kitchen and bathroom faucets. They were very old and rusty. Well, I did a good job BUT I broke an old copper water pipe whilst screwing it to the water hose. Yikes! My ego deflated, I went on Angie's List and called the highest rated plumber around. Ron showed up on time as schedule and was able to solder the end of the pipe, otherwise I would have had to take it all apart and return it to Lowe's. Then he installed my bathroom faucet while I walked my dogs. Ron was great, he never once laughed at my shoddy job! So polite.

The service man arrived right on schedule. He took a look at this plumbing issues raised on the buyer's report and determined that one was a non-issue. We've experienced this discrepency between inspectors and license specialist a few times. In this case, he took numerous pictures and re-confirmed his finding with the office as well. They even offered to put their finding in writing should the buyer need confirmation. I felt very confident in their opinion. They did complete the other work the next day since they needed to get a specific part. The work was performed in a timely and professional manner. I would like to add that the service man who came was incredibly nice! He took the time to explain the plumbing issues to me and also helped me sort out some other issues that I was unclear about (plumber vs. heating specialist). On his way out we were chatting and I mentioned that the house I was moving to was in need of chimney cleaning and repair. My doorbell rang 5 minutes after he left... he had returned with a recommendation for a chimney sweep service. That extra kindness in the middle of a stressful house move meant a lot! I've now used that chimney service... and rated them here on Angie's list too.

Kevian-Lane is our oil company, but we also use them for plumbing and heating service. As far as an oil company, they are fantastic. Even having only been with them a few months, they have a great handle of how much oil is in my tank and the workings of my entire heating system. As part of their service, we also have an oil burner service contract. When we came back from vacation and the heat wasn't working, they had a tech on scene within an hour, replacing out primary control unit. We continued to have issues with our boiler that week, unrelated to the PCU being replaced. They sent a tech out once in the middle of the night?again, on scene within 30 minutes. While he wasn't able to completely solve the problem, they told me then and there that they were committed to making sure it got fixed. After a bit of trial and error we realized it was a wiring issue, and they were able to recommend an electrician who came by and fixed the problem. The plumber who had been helping us that week even stopped by the house to make sure the electrician understood the problem and that it was really, truly fixed. In addition to discounting their plumbing and heating rates for new customers, and me not having to pay a cent for the oil burner parts and labor, I really can't say enough good things about Kerivan-Lane. Their commitment to their customers is something I wish every company had, dealing with them is always a pleasure, and they really, truly care about making sure things get done right, done well, and done on time.

He did the work in half an hour. I called about an additional charge on my invoice, and they told me it was for their employee having to wear gloves. He didn't even wear gloves, so I feel that was just an extra charge. They made a point that they didn't charge a service fee like other companies, but they do have extra charges in different areas. He did do a good job and came out quickly to do the work. They were good about calling to say they were on their way.

I think I said everything in the last paragraph! All went extremely well and we will use them again and recommend them HIGHLY!

Was late arriving though he called to say he was running late. He was friendly, helpful, and quick.

Two plumbers showed up on time with photo ID. They explained everything to me and answered my questions.

Kevin was very thorough in his explanations, and fixed our thermostats as promised. he also provided quotes on new Fujitsu Heating and AC units.

Plumber was late, but called to say he would be as the previous "job ran long" Arrived and went swiftly to work, told us what the problem probably was and then set about fixing it. Because that took less than half an hour, we asked and he obliged us by fixing a problematic faucet.

First I have to say that their salesman was very good. He came to the house on time, gave a good presentation, and submitted a competitive estimate. He responded to my questions in a very timely matter and found out the answers if he didn't know them. I ended up changing the boiler from the one they quoted because I had read better reviews on those of a different manufacturer that they also sold. There was complete cooperation with this change and again the response was in a timely manner. I ended up going with it. To summarize, communication was very good during the sales process. The job was scheduled by their service department. Again, communication was good and they always got back to me in a timely manner. Sometimes there were phone calls and often e mail's exchanged. The installation was done well with as little disruption as there can be in a job such as this. Afterwards, the installer went over the operation of the system. They removed all debris and protected the floors. They even prepared some of the papers for a rebate from the utility and sent them to me after the job was finished. I had almost forgotten about it. Compared to the average contractor, particularly on a residential level, they were outstanding and know how to deal with customers.

I contacted Kerivan-Lane to convert from oil to gas. I was interested in whole house AC installed at the same time, so I went with another contractor. The sales rep came on time. Unfortunately, they did not do whole house AC and would have had to refer me to another contractor. They did offer me option of Fujitsu AC & heat pump units but I thought the units would be too expensive. They were prompt in e-mailing the quote after I contacted them. And, did call me in follow-up.

I do not have the invoice yet, so I will update when I get the price. The plumber who came, Ron Reitz, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He could not fix the leaky faucet because it did not accept a standard gasket, and he ordered the special cartridge I need. He did quickly identify the problem, and showed me a temporary stopgap measure to stop the dripping. Before replacing the garbage incinerator, he gave me an opportunity to save money by seeing if someone could repair it. I decided it was not new enough to pursue that option. So he quickly replaced it and gave me some tips about reducing problems with it.

It went fine. They came when they said and cleaned up!

They went out of there way to tell me about special promotions on Mass save and the zero interest with rebates. We didn't get the work done yet as there was a medical emergency that came up. I would definitely consider using them in the future. They appeared Very professional and courteous.

We've used Kerivan Lane for years, for heating and various plumbing needs. They are very responsive, call you right back when they say they will, and get the job done. Our older house (circa 1940s) has had various issues with the heating system over the past several years. Every fall or winter, something happens so that the heat stops working, usually at night of course. K-L is available to talk overnight, so far we haven't gotten anyone to come fix it immediately overnight, but neither did I really expect this. Our house would just be cold once a year. But they come first thing in the morning, and if they don't have the parts or get it right the first time, they are really responsive to coming back right away to fix it until it's solved. So, we've been happy with our experiences with this company.

2nd Revision to Prior Review: Last week, we had another plumber come to our house, who was a drain specialist, to unclog our kitchen sinks. The kitchen sinks drain into one of the pipes that was leaking in the basement, that a Kerivan lane plumber had replaced. The new plumber inspected the pipes in the basement, to see if their was a risk of puncturing any eroded plumbing with his rooting equipment. He noticed that about 1 foot upstream of where the new pipe was spliced in, there was another large area of heavy erosion, that was slightly obscured by a floor board, but was quite noticeable once the region was carefully inspected (he showed us the erosion, and it was VERY visible if you looked at it with a flashlight). He was dubious about rooting the kitchen drainage pipe, because it could easily perforate as it was a bend in the pipe. He said that the prior Kerivan-Lane plumber should have carefully inspected the region, diagnosed this issue too, and spliced in a larger region of pipe including this adjacent section, since it would start leaking eventually like the replaced region and it posed a threat to the rooting operation. He also said that the prior plumber should have put in cast iron piping, like the original pipe, rather than splicing in the cheaper PVC pipe. As a result, I'm still not happy with the job, since I will need to hire another plumber to replace this adjacent region of the pipe when it starts leaking, and all the prior work which is attached to this 'elbow' pipe will need to be redone and done in higher quality cast iron. (Also, the drain plumber was not trying to sell us on his plumbing services. He primarily does clogged sinks, and not pipe replacement. He just wanted to let us know what was going on, and why his rooter might perforate. Luckily, he was able to carefully clear this section without puncturing the eroded region. ) Revision to Prior Review: Though my initial experience with Kerivan-Lane was frustrating, Chris Lane (the company owner) personally called to resolve the matter, and the next visit from their plumbing crew was MUCH better. They called ahead of time and arrived in their projected time window. There was an experienced plumber and the young plumber, who both worked on the project. (I have no problem with young people, as I am pretty young myself. However, I appreciated having someone with decades of experience working on my pipes.) The project was finished quickly and efficiently, and the bill was less than I had anticipated. Overall, I am happy with their service. Hopefully, in the future, we can have this experience the first time. Old review: Kerivan-Lane delivers our oil, and as customers, we receive a discount on plumbing services. Since they have been good with our oil delivery, I figured we would go through them for plumbing. However, I have had a very different experience with their plumbing department. We have an active leak in our basement that is getting floor boards wet. However, our basement is not flooding, so it was not a super emergency. We called and scheduled them a week in advance. My husband and I need to go to work, so we heavily stressed that we would need them to come within some predictable window of time, preferably first thing in the morning. I understand that they do heating, so nothing is totally predictable. They scheduled us between 8am and 10am, baring any huge disasters. On the day of the appointment, we get a call at 10am, saying they had a lot of heating emergencies that morning, and they would not be able to be at our house until noon, so I wait around for another couple hours. I call them at noon, and they say that a plumber can be at our house earliest at 2pm. I wait around some more. (If I had known they would be coming in the afternoon, I would have gone into work and come home early, which would have been fine with me.) The guy finally arrives at 3pm and looks about 17 years old. He diagnoses the problem, but says he doesn't have the materials to fix it because we have some industrial type of piping in our home's basement. I ask him a couple questions about this type of piping (Why would they use industrial piping in a residential home? What is different about it than normal piping?) He said it requires some special sealing procedure, but that he doesn't remember the answers to most of my questions since he has never worked with it. He points out that he learned about it in plumbing school and he could look it up. At this point, I am slightly concerned, because I want an experienced plumber who knows what he is doing, rather than someone reciting answers from a textbook. Additionally, if he is going to work on this industrial type of piping in my home, I would like him to have prior experience working with it. I don't want my pipes to be the practice round. (I felt like I was seeing a doctor, who diagnoses a condition and then tells me he doesn't remember anything about it and would need to look it up...It doesn't inspire confidence.) Following the basement leak, I ask him to check the plumbing behind our toilet, because the wall is moist and the plaster is crumbling. He cuts a couple small holes in the wall containing the toilet pipe, but leaves the plaster and associated mess all over my closet floor without cleaning it up. (The water was not originating from a plumbing issue (which was good), and instead was a roof issue that we were already addressing). He leaves by saying he would talk to the main office, which would order the parts needed to fix the basement pipes. He said the office would get in contact with me to schedule another visit. Over 2.5 weeks go by. I hear nothing. I then call the office to find out what is going on. They don't know and say they would call me back shortly. I haven't heard from them all day and I am going out of town soon. I should not need to harass them to do their jobs. I am very close to calling someone else who is experienced and reliable to start the process all over again. Unless you get a discounted rate and don't mind putting up with a myriad of issues, I would not call them for their plumbing services.

They came out within two days. They had the correct part with them. The repair was very quick and very professional. They also fixed a water feed line to my refrigerator.

My boiler was so old it might have won a contest as the oldest boiler in America. Kerivan-Lane came and replaced it as well as my oil tank and Superstor. They scheduled the work quickly, helped me get the state credits, the estimate was spot on with no upsell. The service people were professional and finished the job quickly, explained everything to me and did the work cleanly. The removal of such a big system must have been a challenge but as the customer you never would have known it. I thought they were outstanding overall.

I knew my upstairs shower was leaking somewhere, because water had seeped through the bathroom wall and created a hole in the ceiling of the room below. When the shower was on, I could go to the room below, look up through the hole in the ceiling, and see water dripping down, but I couldn't pinpoint the source of the water. Initially, I thought the problem might be occurring because there were visible gaps in the tile grout around the rim of the tub. I had a handyman come inspect, and he had the same thought. He put new caulk around the edge of the tub, but when the leak persisted, he told me there must be a leak in the pipes and I should call a plumber. The regular plumber that I had used in the past had always given me good service, but they were expensive and often couldn't get to jobs promptly. So I checked Angie's List and decided to take a chance on Kerivan-Lane. My call was answered by Christopher Lane, the manager, who was as pleasant and helpful as he could possibly be. He sent a plumber out that same day or the next morning (I can't remember now). The plumber, David, took a look at the situation and suggested that the solution might be to caulk around the shower plate and tub spout. I was completely skeptical, because I'd just had the rest of the tub recaulked, and it didn't look to me as though any water could be getting behind the shower plate or tub spout. David's patient response: "You'd be surprised." I really wanted him to open up the hole in the ceiling further and look for a leak in the pipes. David said, "You know, I like to save my customers money when possible, so let's just try the caulking first." Reluctantly, I agreed, feeling sure that I'd be calling Kerivan back the next day to report that the shower was still leaking. Not the case! Much to my surprise and relief, David was right and the caulking alone did the trick! It's been 6 weeks now and I haven't had a problem since. I really couldn't be happier with Kerivan's service or their very reasonable rate. I will definitely turn to them again for future plumbing issues.

Very satisfied with the company; good communication with office, plumber came on time and did an excellent job, cleared a sink drain (2 other plumbing companies had worked on this within the past 6 months, but neither completely fixed the problem - Kerivan-Lane is the first plumbing company that seemed to do the repair properly). He also took care of 2 other minor repairs. Very professional, on time, competent. Will definitely use this company again.

The company with whom I got my yearly burner service with was taken over by another. When I called for service in July because I realized that nobody had come to work on it in May when I usually had the work done, I was told they "did not do that anymore." I immediately looked up Angie's list and was impressed by the rating of Kerigan-Lane. I called and was quickly given an appointment and Mr Ken Nyugen came to service it. He was quick, neat and left a tag on the burner indicating the efficiency of the furnace and also tagged the gas shut off valve.....Nobody ever did that before and I appreciate this very much. This made me feel so much better since my burner is old and I was worried about how well it was working. I will keep this company.....Good Job!!

They came at the time scheduled, worked in a very professional manner and kept me apprised of their progress on a daily basis. They left the work-site cleaner than they found it and reviewed with me all they had done and answered all my questions. This is almost unheard of in today's service provider world!

Kerivan-Lane is an outstanding company with very responsive customer service. I use them for oil service and plumbing, and they replaced a leaking oil tank. I find them to be trustworthy and honest.

The whole process went very smoothly. There were enough people working on the job, so it could get done in time.The site was left neat and clean - even at the end of the first day. At the end of the job I was walked through the details of what I will be responsible for and was offered all the help I need on the way. The new system has been working without anybody having to come back.

I had a bad experience with this company quoting a price, dragging me along for a month when they knew I had a deadline to complete the work to get a rebate, and then eventually not honoring the price and asking for more money. I'm proud that I was wise enough to walk away and find a much more honest plumber (St. Jean). The story: After getting a quote from Kevin in mid June, there were a few details missing. I asked a few questions in an email, and received responses a few days later. I was told they would easily be able to finish the job by July 31 for the rebate deadline, so I wasn't initially concerned about this delay in communication. On July 1, I sent an email with the signed contract and asked where I should send the check, and I got no response for a week. I called and found out that Kevin had taken a two week vacation. I spoke with Mr. Lane about scheduling the work so it would be done by the end of July. I was told that Kevin had to do the scheduling when he got back. I was also warned that it may not be done by the end of July but that the rebate would very likely be extended. I was not convinced, but he was right, it was extended. When Kevin did finally return, it took him a few days before he would return my calls/emails. When he did, he emailed me "Unfortunately, due to price increases in the equipment and components for your job, and on our re-evaluation, on how long these jobs are taking to complete, there would have to be an increase in the job to 15,875.00 to install this new boiler." - a $1000 increase. I looked online at the prices for boilers and did not see any substantial increases, so I believe this increase was because he didn't think I had any other choice due to the rebate deadline. Well, I found another plumber (St. Jean) that quoted $12,000 and did an excellent job. We even expanded the work order to re-plumb the whole basement and still paid less than Kerivan-Lane's original quote.
