The provider came to the house and looked at the project. They informed me I would have to get other inspection done for hazardous material like asbestos and mold. When I had that done they then cam up with other reasons the work couldn't be done and after some back and forth they informed me they would refund my $5,000.00. I would not recommend this company at all.
Description of Work: The provider advertised a complete bathroom demo and remodel for $5,000.00. I purchased the deal and scheduled an estimate to remodel the bathroom to see if it would be more than $5,000.00

I remember this bid very well... I gave you suggestions and ideas as all your plumbing had to be moved and required major construction. plus I am curious as to why you waited till 2014 when I believe it was three years ago. I have not done any work for Angies list clients simply for this reason. People like to blog and make up stories.Glad to be away from this site.

He is the best contractor we have ever had. He supervises his workers every day he is on site. He is very easy to work with. If you make changes it's not a big deal. His pricing is fair. He even came out on a Sunday to inspect the work after a large storm.
Description of Work: He renovating our bathroom and putting on an addition of an extra bedroom and bathroom.

Would never recommend this company to anyone, based on the tactics used.
Description of Work: This was a bait and switch deal. Offer was for a complete remodel for $5,000 came back with an estimate of $22,000. When I complained, he withdrew from the program. Our money was refunded.

We found Peter Kavanagh?s name through Angie?s list and the Big Deal that was offered to remodel one 5? x 8? bathroom. Our downstairs bath was a 1960?s bathroom that really needed work. Our upstairs bathroom was newer, but needed updating, so we decided to remodel both bathrooms. Peter was really helpful and before we agreed to anything he visited our home at least 4 times and right from the start it was a positive experience. Each time he had more suggestions, most of which we incorporated into the designs. Peter supplied all of the labor and construction materials. We purchased the tile, plumbing fixtures, vanities, vanity tops and glass tub and shower enclosures. We decided to go with a glass screen for the tub instead of a shower curtain or sliding glass doors. Peter made some good suggestions for local vendors to deal with. As part of the deal there was an allowance for fixtures that we put toward our own purchases. We went beyond the basic Big Deal, but used that as our starting point. Our house is on a slab so the rough plumbing replacement involved trenching and then repairing the slab. The people who Peter hired to work on the bathrooms were competent, pleasant, professional and respectful of our home. As you can imagine, there was a good amount of dust, but Peter and his crew made every effort to minimize the impact it had on our daily living. Peter always gave us a heads-up as to what should be expected for the coming week, and then refined things as the week went along. If a change needed to be done, Peter was there to discuss it with us. The upstairs bathroom was completed just before Thanksgiving and the downstairs bathroom had just been demolished. Peter was concerned that we were having company for Thanksgiving, so he brought in a cleaning service to clean the whole house at his expense. This was certainly something he did not have to do. The project was completed in January 2012 and we are entirely pleased with the job that Peter did and we would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Peter Kavanagh remodeled two bathrooms for us. The downstairs bathroom involved a complete gut job back to the studs replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower and increasing the size of the bathroom by removing a small closet. The upstairs bathroom remodel included a cast iron bathtub replacement and complete update. Downstairs bathroom work = demolished the existing bathroom and removed a hall closet to increase the bathroom size including installation of a pocket door, moved heating and a/c vent, framed the new shower (5’ x 3’), installed all new plumbing with a copper shower pan and new drain, installed durock in shower, installed blueboard and plaster on walls, installed a window in the shower area (10” x 38”), installed bead board half way up the walls, all painting of ceiling and walls, installed new vanity, installed new lighting in ceiling and shower, installed heated marble floor, and installed tile and grout in shower area. Installed all fixtures, medicine cabinet, grab bars, towel bars, glass shelves, etc. and disposed of all debris. Upstairs bathroom work = demolition of tub area and removed existing vanity, sink, toilet, and floor. Installed durock in tub/shower area, installed new tile in tub/shower area, installed durock floor underlayment, installed new marble heated floor, installed new blueboard ceiling, skim coated walls, installed bead board half way up walls, installed 60” vanity, installed low flow toilet, all painting of ceiling and walls, built a new cover for baseboard heating unit, installed new ceiling fan, mirror and fixtures.

We were very happy with both the work in 2006 and the work completed in October, 2010. In both cases, I was very pleased with the work of Peter, his team and his subs. Several times, during the work most recently done, Peter had a cleaning team come in and clean the the whole house. Peter's quotations were competitive and I considered the final pricing fair. I felt that Peter was honest and I was fairly treated. I would not hesitate to recommend Peter.
Description of Work: I had previously used Kavanagh Remodeling in 2006 to change a screened porch to a 4 season porch. Most recently, in 2010, I used Peter Kavanagh to do an extensive remodeling of our master bedroom and bathroom, painting and roofing. This included bumping out the master bedroom 6 feet, adding walk in closets, gutting and redoing a new bathroom. In addition, we had a new roof put on and the house painted. And in both cases, Peter's own design capability added immeasurably to the finished product. In our master bathroom, at Peter's suggestion, we put in a cathedral ceiling that really adds to the room.

We decided the estimate was higher than we wanted to negotiate, so we did not hire this contractor.
Description of Work: I called the company after their advert on Angie's List of $4999 deal for bath remodel. It took multiple emails from me over several weeks to get an appt. I didn't want to pay that much money without meeting the contractor first. When we did get together, Peter was good and took about an hour to be sure he understood what we wanted, which was more than the basic bath remodel. He had good ideas, but his estimate was very high. We recently had our kitchen gutted and remodeled, so I have a fair idea of costs and Kavanaugh was 40-50% higher than I expected.

Response from Kavanagh Remodeling
In response to this customer. I spent close to 3 hrs with this customer. The bathroom re model was a bigger scope of work than first described. It included removing existing Master bedroom wall and moving over 4 feet approx. all plumbing in existing bathroom had to be relocated. Also add two new master bedroom closets. Block of a door in another bedroom add new closets in this bedroom as well. The price given was extremely fair based on scope of work given.

Peter made our custom renovation an overall pleasant experience. He was always up front and honest when it came to cost and accurate in his preliminary estimate. No surprises. We expected our cellar to look good and he far exceeded our expectations.
Description of Work: Complete cellar and garage renovation. Replaced all windows with the best Anderson 400 series. Installed cork flooring on basement floor to prevent moisture and mold. Peter was friendly and very easy to communicate with. He was very helpful in directing us to the latest building materials, specifically the cellar flooring which we were concerned about moisture and mold. Renovation looks top notch. Other contractors gave us prices which were much higher and did not seem interested our custom ideas. I would recomended Peter to other family members and would not hesitate to hire him again. :) A+++

Stayed in budget with me. We had to move out of the house for the remodel and he would call me every morning, to let me know the plan for the day. He had great ideas, and was very responsive. All of the crew members were polite and neat. The house looks amazing. When he takes on a job, he treats it as his own house and puts a lot of thought into it and does not rush things. He is very dependable. I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Total house remodel. Brand new kitchen, spa bathroom, all three bedrooms, every window in the house, all inside trim and molding, broke down some walls, reinforced a wall, etc.
