Outdoor Maintenance Landscaping

Our front lawn was in sad shape. After the third attempt at completely re-doing the soil and planting seed failed, I contacted Steve. He prepared the soil and planted sod and treated the soil so the grubs wouldn't kill this grass to. A year later, we have a thick, healthy, green, beautiful front lawn. Steve's easy to work with and reliable.

Steve and his team came in and did a fantastic job with my lawn and landscaping. He's intuitive and thoughtful -- he knew what needed to be done and did it -- needed no direction. Great attention to detail. Would recommend him highly and without reservation.

Consistent work and quality

The crew arrived and began the trimming of bushes and small trees. They worked steady and cleaned as they worked. The crew seems to have been with the company for a number of years and are knowledgable. They talked to us and gave us updates regularly. The bushes looked great when they were done. Some of them seemed cut really low but they assured us that they will comeback full and healthy. It is actually good for the plants health. The lawn and mulch work was the next phase. They treated certain areas and mulched heavy where needed. The lawn was edged and the beds looked really defined and clean. They also put a small fence around the veggie garden. Looked great to come home and see the yard the way we wanted it. Really good job for a fair price. Value is what we were looking for NOT the cheapest.

What a nightmare. Things started off well when Steve responded quickly to our request for a quote, agreeing to come over the following evening to scope out the work. The quote was fairly detailed, and Steve appeared to be quite knowledgeable. We chose him because he had the lowest quote by a significant amount, but in this case we got what we paid for. Actually, I would say we got less than what we paid for based on the experience. The first step was the spring clean up of our yard. When I came home from work the evening after they had done the and quot;clean upand quot; I was horrified. It looked like a band of teenagers had been let loose with power equipment in our yard. In addition to all of the leaves being removed, so were most of the emerging flowers and plants in our beds: peonies, lilies, whatever was in their path was cleared, trampled, and otherwise laid to waste. Entire areas of the yard, which were specifically discussed as not to be touched, were cut to an inch high, leaving what amounts to large, scarred areas of our yard which have yet to recover months later. The disrespect that was shown to our property is disgusting. In addition, the leaf blowers they used managed to blow dirt through all of our windows, including our recently redecorated nursery. In addition, with the regard to our larger project, it was a half-assed effort at best, as instead of clear cutting the area before leveling it to limit the growth of old plants where a children’s swingset would be, we instead have a profusion of saplings, shrubs, and even poison ivy that continue to come up through the woodchips on a weekly basis. Steve also managed to start multiple arguments with my wife regarding when our cars would and would not be in our driveway. He also refused to give us a solid date on when the work would be done, up to and including when he finally gave us a day later in the week, and then he showed up unannounced a day earlier. I can’t advise against hiring this company and Steve enough. He shows no regard for the wishes of his customers, treats you terribly, and doesn’t even do satisfactory work.

Steve came over to provide an estimate for some miscellaneous yardwork we needed: removal of shrubs and stumps, tree-trimming, mulching and grass seed. He responded quickly when I called to request an estimate, came over one evening on his way home and spent a good amount of time assessing the work and providing an estimate. He was courteous, helpful, friendly and his costs came in to the middle-lower end compared to the others we received. I called him a couple of days later to say that we'd like him to do the work and at this point I felt his attitude changed - he was unwilling to commit to when he would do the work - said probably the last week of July/1st week of August and would call to let me know. That's the last contact I had with him. By the end of the second week of August, after many phone calls and messages, I have given up chasing him. He hasn't turned up to do the work and hasn't returned my calls. Even if he had a valid reason, he hasn't even had the courtesy to let me know he is unable to the work.Our neighbourhood uses a lot of word-of-mouth recommendations and I have already spoken to a number of neighbours who have asked for landscaping recommendations, and specifically said DO NOT CALL Outdoor Maintenance Company unless you have time and energy to waste!

The overall experience was great. The best part of the job was the quality people I worked with at OMC. The owner Steve was very focused on the quality of work and he wanted a happy customer. His son Doug was also very courteous and a joy to work with. He also did a good job running the crew. They have great equipment and use the best materials. Their mulch is real mulch that holds its color and the seed they use is the best. They were polite and clean. Their prices are fair and they will stand behind their work . I am very happy I made the switch to OMC for my landscaping needs.

They did a nice job and they were prompt. They were polite and professional. I would use them again in the future.

I spoke with the owner, and he made up a plan for the yard, which I loved. He gave the house curb appeal. His concepts are very good.
