+ -1 moreContacted him in mid May. After leaveing several messages with answering service Steve set up a time to visit. Stuck waiting for him better part of day as he wanted me to be available. NO SHOW, NO CALL. I called more then a little 'miffed' and SOB stood me up again!
Description of Work: Evaluate sod installation Steve Gold provide me. 1/3 area very poor last year and worse this year. Wanted to get him out to evaluate, resod or airate & over seed

Description of Work: Spring Yard clean up. It was a little more than their standard "spring clean up" price, but considering they hauled away two truckloads of leaves and debris it was worth every penny.

+ -1 moreThey're very professional and reasonable. I like working with them. I found his prices very reasonable. I really like that he has a receptionist to answer the phone, which helps avoid having to email or play telephone tag.

+ 3 moreIn the end I got two offers and Gold was the most competitively priced of the two by a good margin. Steve was easy to deal with and professional. The reason I am not giving him an A on price is that while his quote for the retaining wall and the rest of landscaping was the best, when I asked him to quote other additional jobs (for instance, paving a driveway), his estimates were considerably higher (e.g. 50% more) than other companies', which I ended up using very successfully. My sense is that what he charges for other jobs (like routine maintenance, cleanups etc.) is fair but certainly not the most competitive out there. But again, my overall experience was excellent and I would use Steve again for the main landscaping job.
Description of Work: The job was pretty extensive and difficult. The major difficulty was building a retaining wall in a sloped area, which some other companies refused to even look at. The rest of the job was fairly standard (we paved with bluestones an area of the backyard, installed an irrigation system, planted hundreds of plants etc.).
