A sales professional showed up and wanted to make an overall inspection of roof, windows, and gutters. In return I was expected to sit down and listen to a presentation of everything Sprague proposes. My roof is 2 years old and my windows are in good working order. I don't need a timeshare type of sales pitch. I sent the salesperson on his way.

My relationship with GF Sprague got off to a bad start but later went well. They were assigned by an insurance company to inspect my roof. They charged me $1200 to walk around for a few minutes and look at the roof--because they knew they had me hostage. The insurance company expressed shock at that charge. They told me everything was fine but then tried to get me to do vast amounts of work that others said was unnecessary. There were a couple less expensive things that did need doing, with some urgency, and the representative, Mark, promised to get back to me with an estimate on those but did not do so. When I complained, another man, Bob Scribner, jumped right on the job. The relatively small but urgent concern was that I had large amounts of water coming onto my patio from underneath the gutter and I couldn't determine the cause. The initial GF Sprague representative Mark, had told me that the problem was a mis-installed gutter and fixing it would be very expensive. Nobody else seemed to think that was the problem. There was no plumbing in that area and my air conditioner firm, Sila, had looked at it and said it absolutely had nothing to do with the air conditioner. Bob said, on the contrary, it looked like it was coming from an area that should have been hooked up to an air conditioning drain. Sila looked at it again and said, no, the air conditioning drain went out the opposite corner of the house. Bob suggested opening up part of the roof and looking. He was very clear that he might be wrong, and that it would cost me even if he was wrong, but he thought it worth trying. He was absolutely right. There was a dual air conditioning drain that wasn't properly connected into the gutter. A Sila technician came over and expressed the strongest skepticism that this was the real problem but restored the connection. The problem instantly went away. Bob and his company GF Sprague had it absolutely right. Mark had told me that the problem was caused by a wrongly installed gutter and that fixing it would be extremely expensive. But the charge for Bob and Brian to fix the actual problem turned The roof work and additional replacement of downspouts were done by another technician, Brian, who did what appears to be a great job. Brian was prompt, hardworking, and very pleasant and professional to work with. I would welcome him back anytime. The $1200 inspection charge was supposed to be creditable toward other work, so I asked that it be used that way. For several weeks GF Sprague said it was having difficulty verifying that payment, but as soon as I provided my bank records they gave me the credit.

Can't say enough about the professionalism of this company. Love the fact they were able to explain the issue in a way that made sense to me and to offer solutions instead of creating new problems.

GF Sprague did an outstanding job. I am on my fourth project with them and they are great. They show up when they say they will; they do good work; and clean up after the projects. I work from home so I get to check on the progress as the projects go along. Paul is exceptional. He shows me where the leak was, and how they prevent it going forward. I had part of the roof replaced by Home Depot a number of years ago and he showed me what they did. What GF Sprague is doing is much better. Paul has done great work and is great to work with. GF Sprague is lucky to have him. Paul works incredibly hard, communicates well, has a great attitude, and leaves the worksite clean and free of debris. Every now and when I think that they might be a little expensive, I remind myself that I spent thousands of dollars with another roofing company and Home Depot and they didn't fix the problems and I still had leaky roofs. I want the work done right and that's why I keep using GF Sprague.

The staff on site were very professional, and they did a wonderful job cleaning up every night. We have been searching for 2+ years for a company to take on this job and this was the only one to talk to us and present a plan that made sense. Just as my neighbor recommended them to us, I would gladly pass on the recommendation.

A couple of communication glitches early on but once the contract was signed everything was fine. Price was somewhat higher than competitors but work is guaranteed. Rafael was very courteous and cleaned up well after the job was done.

I asked for a quote on a small roofing job in Needham. The man they sent to give the quote was pushy and asking personal, creepy questions that were none of his business, and then they gave me an astronomical quote. I later called Sprague to complain, and the person on the phone said that they actually TELL their workers to push for personal information about potential customers! Expect a pushy, nosy sales pitch if you call for a simple price quote, and then expect to hear a price five times what other companies say. Don't even waste your time.

Based on our experience 20 years ago in another house, we called Sprague. The initial sales rep was knowledgeable and thorough. The project manager kept us up-to-date about the start/duration of the project, and they even delivered a portable toilet for the job. The installer, Brian, was professional and did beautiful work. He demolished the chimney to the roof line without any debris falling into the flues, added a copper pan to keep water out, rebuilt the chimney from the roof up, added a cement cap on top of the brick and reused our three flue covers. Also, during the initial sales call, we had asked the sales rep about replacing a band of crumbled mortar in the firebox. He assured us they'd be able to make the repair, but it wasn't noted in the contract, and we didn't notice the oversight. When the job was finished, we remembered the mortar that needed replacing. We told the project manager who check with the rep. Mortar repaired at no extra charge: That's a reputable company.

G.F. Sprague is a very professional company from start to finish, we as homeowners are very happy with the results. Our first contact was with the office secretary Linda Noble who was knowledgeable and friendly. Mark Vaccaro, their affable sales representative, then came to our home and proposed a range of optional plans that catered to our needs. The next step was for the company manager Bob Scribner to come to our home, survey the job for materials and set-up a schedule coordinating shingling and copper-work. As company manager he guaranteed quality workmanship including warranty and certainly delivered. The G.F. Sprague crew was always on-time and courteous. The custom copper-workers headed up by Jamie O'Neill and Dan Kelly performed superb coppersmithing. Not only is the copper-work functionally water tight it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Whenever it came to questions or suggestions about the work, the workers were very accommodating. Furthermore, after each work day the crew always made sure the premises were cleaned-up. Bob Scribner was very professional and courteous. I ended up cancelling the job, and he was very fair with his cancellation policy. GF Sprague is a large, highly professional, "Class 1" roofing company, and my job was really tiny. When I decided to go with a handyman, Bob was totally understanding. When I have my roof replaced in a few years, I will certainly be calling on Sprague.

I searched for skylights repair in the website and the first results was this website. I called them immediately. The person on the phone said that Sharon was out of their coverage area and they would charge $500 as deposit in case if i go with them. Why would Angie's list website show this company if they are not servicing Sharon?

GF Sprague was very responsive and I was immediately able to schedule a service call. Came right on time and immediate identified, addressed and fixed the issue with our gutter. Very professional and friendly.

Fantastic experience. Paul, the foreman, made sure everything was done and the whole job went smoothly. They painted the wood behind the gutters as well as replacing gutters, drain spouts and fixed a hole in the roof. All the workers were very professional and I can't say enough how pleased I was with the finished job. I had leaky gutters for a long time and now I am so thrilled with the final results. No more dripping water over my stairs!

Steve from Sprague was excellent, on time, courteous and professional. He cleaned out the top of the gutter, which was above and beyond my expectations. He installed a piece of metal along the gutter that redirected the rain into the gutter instead of down the side of the house. It took about 20 minutes.

We were gone the day the work was completed, and you couldn't even tell they had been there. The job involved peeling shingles and siding, repairing underneath, and then putting it back together. It involved a very visible area of roof and reapplication of pieces was flawless. Glad they take pictures as they go so that we can see the process - may not have believed they were there! I do think you pay a premium price for their service - could have shopped around more - but they call back, showed up, do excellent work, and follow up afterwards. There is a value to that!

We purchased all of our replacement windows through G F Sprague. We worked with Manny and our experience was fantastic. Six months after they were installed, we had an issue with one window. Manny came out the day after we called and ran some tests. He ordered a new window and we've been fine ever since. That was 4 years ago. I would hire these folks again in a heart beat.

As promised, installer came on time, worked steadily, cleaned up thoroughly after work completed. Very competent and courteous. Did a great job.

I'm not very happy at the moment. I'm waiting for a follow-up visit they're supposed to do because of the guarantee. But when we complained about a problem, they didn't follow up since then. In fact, they're on my to-do list to call today. They did relatively good work, but they didn't do what they were supposed to. They guarantee their work and they do a routine thorough follow-up as part of their guarantee. And when they did the check-up, we said well we have this problem and they said okay, we'll get back to you; well, that's been a couple of months and they haven't. They may if I bug them, but they should've on their own without me bugging them. It was pretty high priced. The quality itself was "A." I mean, there's this one little problem, but generally they did a good job overall.

They do a great job and I think they are worth every penny. They are professional.

It went well. They have done several projects over the years. They were very good communicators. Part of it is that they are always trying to sell you something else, but provided that you show up enough to overlook that. They do have meetings with you before every project, and carefully describe exactly what they are going to do and what the cost is going to be, so there are no surprises. They will call you ahead of time to make sure the schedule works out.

The work performed by the crew was good, they worked hard and are very skilled. The sales team and the manager of the crew was where our experience was tough. The initial estimate after a full inspection of the roof failed to find additional work of 20-30k that was required. This was identified by the crew after the work had started. This can happen on an old house but the negotiation between ourselves and the manager was one of the worst I have had to undertaken, and we are experienced negotiators / mediators. It was not professional and at times felt like bullying. I would say the whole experience was brought down by the lack of professionalism on the part of the sales reps and crew manager. I had read previous comments on here and can see a similar theme of add on work due to a poor sales estimate. Be warned. The work completed is of high quality and the crew were great and were with us for nearly 6 months.

Great! I've used GF Sprague for roofing and window issues for years. As always, they sent a well-informed, patient representative to discuss options and plan the work. They recognized that it was important to install new skylights before much damage was done and came within a week. The two young guys who did the work were friendly, efficient, cheerful--nice to have around. In this case, one skylight had leaked into my grand piano, which I had to move to another part of the room. They helped me move it back and were more than tolerant of the need to move it into several different positions before we found the right one.

I put a review on this company into Angie's list in 2015. We have not had the roof leak since they worked on it in 2014, so their work held up. Regarding the snow removal from the roof, they removed snow from the roof after the 1st (?) snowstorm and removed snow again after the 3rd(?) snowstorm. I particularly appreciated the latter as by that time everyone in the Boston area was looking for someone to remove snow from their roofs and Sprague said they were getting 300 requests a day.
