I highly recommend G.F. Sprague. We had our roof replaced with excellent results! Dave, the on-site supervisor, was very careful with the landscaping as all the Spring flowers and shrubbery was just starting to bloom. All workers were on time and attentive to detail, including a meticulous clean-up at the end of the day and after the job was complete.

The sales team was very professional and provided a detailed explanation of the scope of the work. The quoted price was much higher than the ones available in the market. The construction crew was very knowledgeable, professional and had excellent experience. The job was completed in two days as quoted with minor issues needed to be corrected. These issues were addressed inmediateky after they were identified. Overall, we are satisfied with the job.

Quality work, performed by a prompt and professional team. We appreciated being able to reach project manager easily at any time. Would recommend highly. Special thanks to Rodrigo and his crew.

We had signed a contract for one amount, then after a long delay and many contacts on my part, finally heard back that they were going to need to charge $4000 extra. This was after 2 weeks when I could have contracted with someone else. No one tried to negotiate a better income, I felt totally left in the lurch and very disappointed.

They first quoted me a price over the phone and then showed up and said that was the price for 1.5 hours rather than the job. Additionally, they wore ice climbing shoes and made holes in my entire roof and ripped off the carpet in my front hallway such that I now have to get my entire roof replaced.

They gave an estimate that was 3x the cost from other providers for comparable quality of materials and workmanship. They used heavy sales techniques to force us to sign the offer on the spot (and pay the deposit). The sales person was way too pushy, almost to the point of it being unpleasant. Unlike all other companies, they did not leave any estimate so that it can be compared with others. The moment we declined to sign the contract , all the documents were taken by the sales person - very unprofessional. This certainly feels like this company wants to ride on the wave of severe weather we've had this past winter. Very disappointing. On a plus side, the sales person was knowledgeable. But overall, this was a wasted time.

We had a little bit of trouble with the first team that they sent out. We were told that the supervisor was ill, which resulted in a work crew with which we could not effectively communicate. As a result, the job wasn't completed properly. Water poured into our house just two days later. However, when we called back, Sprague quickly sent out a new crew to completely clear the ice from our gutters. That crew was very professional and effective. We had no further problems with ice dams. There was a debate over whether we would have to pay for the second crew. The folks at Sprague took responsibility in the end and did not charge us. This was the right response, which we so seldom see these days. I applaud them for taking responsibility and doing the right thing. Sometimes, workers don't do the best jobs. But, the company needs to be judged on how the owners handle the situation. For this, Sprague gets an A in my book!

They showed up on time with a large group of workers and did the entire job in one day. I was pleased with the final result. The new roof looks very good and I feel it should give me many years of good service.The crew did a great job of cleaning up my yard afterwards.

GF Sprague recently replaced a gutter downspout pipe that was too small and removed some ice dams this winter. All work was of high quality by friendly and professional crews. I plan on getting an estimate from them for repair work for the ice damage to our roof and for replacing a large gutter on the back of our house.

It was fine. Scheduling was tricky, but that was due to the crazy winter we had. I would use them again.

We called Sprague due to ice dams … They were swamped with calls by homeowners with the same sorts of problems, and did not respond for a number of days.

They did a good job. I was happy with them.

This is a story of three very different experiences. 1) Our first experience with GF Sprague was in early February after one of the big snow storms. Like many other people in the area, we had some ice dams and water leaking into the house. We called up GF Sprague to clear out the ice dams. Because of the volume at the time, it took them a couple of days to get out to do the work. This was totally understandable, and Mark (when he did arrive) was courteous and professional, and seemed to know what he was doing. Mark and his assistant spent the next 2 hours clearing out the ice dams from one section of our house. The cost for this was a little on the steep side, but given the high demand, this was not unexpected. I was quite satisfied with the work they did perform, however. At this point I was very satisfied and would have given them a better overall review. 2) Later in February, and after another big storm, a different part of the roof suffered from ice dams and we again called GF Sprague to clear away the dams. As before, the number of people needing service was quite high. We made the appointment, but they could not immediately give us a date or time they were going to come out and do the work. This was understandable given the demand at the time. Meanwhile, the roof kept leaking water and I ventured out to clean out the ice myself because I just could not wait any longer. The strange thing was that my wife and I called repeatedly to find out when they might be free to come and do the work, but we seemed to be communicating with different people. I was told at one point that it might be another 3-4 weeks before somebody would be available, but when my wife called, they managed to get a time that was just a few days later. They did arrive at the appointed time, this time with a crew of 3, and spent about 90 minutes clearing away some remaining snow and ice, even though I had already gotten the worst of the problem spots. This time they did not seem to get as much done overall, even though they spent more man hours this time around. It was also more expensive still. I don't think I got my money's worth this time. Oddly enough, we got a call the next day telling us that they would be unable to come out at all to remove our ice dams. It seems like there was a good bit of miscommunication in the office. 3) Finally, Spring has arrived and the snow has melted away. When Mark was clearing away the first set of ice dams, he pointed out a few spots of damage and some other areas of concern not related to the ice. He said I should call in the Spring so that they could be looked at and repaired. This I did in March. GF Sprague scheduled Mark to come out on April 1 to look over the damage and give me an estimate for the repairs. I got a time slot of 3-5 PM, took off of work, and waited for the crew to arrive. They never did. They did not call to let me know they were not coming. The office number went to an answering machine (it was 5 PM by the time I called), and nobody answered the "emergency" number. When I called the next morning, they could not tell me why nobody showed up, they only offered to re-schedule the appointment. I declined to do so. Although I was initially happy with their service, the second interaction made me a bit suspicious. Getting totally blown off by the contractor after having taken time off of work with no explanation and no offered compensation for my trouble made the overall experience quite negative. I will not be using GF Sprague in the future. [Update: Although the person I talked to on the phone after the missed appointment was not very apologetic for the screw-up, the owner himself did call about an hour later and was quite concerned that the appointment had been missed. He arranged for somebody to survey the damage the following Saturday. I will further update this review pending the outcome of that assessment.]

They did a very good job. They were very responsive and were able to get out here in a short period of time.

They cleaned the roof and everything was wonderful. I calledthem the next time, and they told me that they are coming on Wednesday. Then they called me that they were to come next week.I had to call for another company to clean up the floor. They came twice. they did a great job for the first job but when i called them, they told me that they are not coming. somethings were good but...

Just a note to all who live in Natick and might want to call this organization: I was told they don't service Natick or aren't servicing Natick at this time. I thought it was worth mentioning to save others time as I noted my town in my email message to this organization; was instructed to call to schedule an appt. and then after asking me for several bits of personal information during my call, was told they don't service Natick.

After the first storm hit the area, we contacted GF Sprague after noticing ice dam damage in our home. They responded quickly to mitigate the issue. We were told 3-4 weeks to get the job done depending on weather. As we all know, there were several storms after that. The initial proposal to us was not explained great and there was confusion on the job that would take place. After a few phone calls and emails, we were able to establish contact and have the work scheduled. The team was in and out in 1 day to replace the whole roof as explained and expected. The only complaints I would have is that the job wasn't explained great from the start and the work was changed to big a bit bigger than originally expected.

At first I was very pleased how they called me after I submitted a request through the Internet to have our house looked at. I was also happy that they called a day before to confirm my appointment. But on the day of the appointment that's where the disappointment came in. We waited all day and not even one phone call letting us know why the estimator never showed up. I even called the company and left a message that day asking what happened and they never returned my call. It' now 4 days later now. We still haven't heard from them. They seem to not want our business and not care about their customers. It was very unprofessional of them and a waste of our time.

We are pre-existing customers of Sprague, and emailed a quote request early Sunday morning due to a discovered leak from ice dam. We heard back first thing on Monday morning and the crew came around 10:30am. We were very pleased with the punctuality, responsiveness and professionalism of the crew. It was a tough job to reach the ice from ladders outside, but the crew did as much as they could to try to remove the offending ice to stop the leak.

After waiting patiently for our job to move up their waiting list I received a message that they were not able to do my job and were only going to focus on a couple of towns and previous customers. Needless to say I wasn't pleased and subsequently left a very negative review on Angie's list. We subsequently found someone else to shovel the snow (but not remove the ice dams) from our roof which stopped the leaking. I was then surprised to get a call several days later that they would now be able to work on my house. They came when scheduled and completed the work in an hour and a half. Given that G. F. Sprague advertise ice dam removal and have several pages on their web site devoted to the topic I was expecting a more professional approach to the problem. Instead of using steam to remove the ice, I was disappointed to see three workers with picks working away on my recently installed roof. Thankfully they managed to remove most of the ice with only very minor damage to the roof. The price seemed exorbitant but given the leaks we were suffering we had no choice. The pricing seemed opportunistic and not based on labor cost. Three guys for an hour and a half ($1080 / 3 / 1.5) is $240 and hour! G.F. Sprague are well known and justifiably respected for their roofing installation and repair services but I think they need to lift their game when it comes to emergency ice/snow removal. They need to work on their communication and workload management so that customers in need of emergency services are not left wondering when and if they will get help.

I have no idea how you manage a small roofing business this winter when we have record snowfall, you are a top-rated firm on Angie's List, and you get 500 phone calls per day asking for help. Somehow these guys did it and were fantastic! I had a lot of snow on my roof and ice dams began forming due to the partial melting. Within one week, they were out at my house. Although it took a few trips, they got through nearly all of it. They were on the first and second floors of my snowy/icy roof, undeterred by the elements. One crew was up there even after the sun had gone down! The first floor roof over the garage must have had 4' of snow on it due to the huge drifts that accumulated. The second floor roofs had less but still quite a bit of snow. The biggest problem was just starting to happen...the dreaded ice dams! We did not have any leaks but did have this one massive ice dam that had developed between the second floor roof and the first floor roof. It was as wide as my waist and a solid block of ice between the two floors! They removed it along with the snow and I am thrilled. Bring on the Spring melt, my roof is ready for it now!

After a few scheduling snafus we finally got an estimate. It was definitely on the higher side than others we had received but they explained that that has to do with the quality of the work. We have not yet decided whether to use them.

Days later they just canceled on me for no reason.

We paid for four hours of service to clear our roof of snow and ice damns. They left after an hour, having done only half of the back roof and putting deicer on the ice dams. Pretty poor performance for the money.

They were very prompt. They did an incredible job. The pricing was fair and the work was well worth it.
