So-so. Nice of them to squeeze me in during a horrendous winter with roofing companies being deluged with calls. So grateful and relieved at the time. However, subsequent experience with another crew modified my point of view. New crew did an EXCELLENT job at a reasonable price. My neighbors were clamouring for them but only one got lucky.

Really well, they really know their stuff about slate roofs. Excellent workers.

Really pushy. Spent a long time talking to my wife in person trying to figure out how much money we made and selling themselves, then refused to give us a quote unless we sat through a 90 minute presentation.

Fixed the problem quickly. Very helpful and courteous. Couldn't ask for better service.

I asked them to come out and give me an estimate, while they did not do any work they gave me great advice and recommended a couple of good options.

After hiring GF Sprague to replace the roof on my home about a dozen or so years ago, I am a committed customer. At the time, the main roof of my old house needed to be vented and the roofing needed replacing. Bob Scribner, a knowledgeable, courteous and professional sales representative came to my home and, without pressure, offered me a variety of choices including grades of roofing materials. Sprague had been highly recommended by work colleagues. Sprague is known for their high-level products and craftsmanship. The job was completed as promised, the clean-up was excellent and I like the aesthetics of the roofing materials that I chose. Bob Scribner was often on site, assuring quality control. Sprague is a high-end company in their materials, workmanship and communication with clients. This is reflected in their prices but also in their customer relations over the years. Each time I need work done, Bob Scribner shows up. I feel known and appreciated as a customer. Since the original roofing project, I have had two smaller sections of my roof (not done the first time) re-done and flashing repaired on my chimney. I had the confidence to call on Sprague. In June 2016, I responded to an offer to have a cost-free inspection of my roof. I was a bit skeptical. Free inspections often turn into costly projects. Bob Scribner performed the inspection and I was in fact given free advice that my roof needed power washing to prolong the life of my roof shingles, but the advice was indeed free. Bob and I discussed the coming winter and I was assured that, as a valued customer, I could expect first-line attention, even in the event of the kind of catastrophic winter we all suffered in 2014-2015. GF Sprague gives their word to take care of their customers. That feels reassuring.

They did a terrific job. They were professional and on time. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The rubber roof on our garage needed to be replaced and some masonry work was needed to repair the damage from years of water getting into the brick. The team that worked on our garage were very nice but not as competent as they should be for the price that we paid. There were several "mistakes" and the masonry work was extremely amateur. The supervisor agreed and sent a competent mason to repair the job and another Sprague roofer fixed a few other issues. The job is complete and fine, I just wish it was done right the first time.

We needed to replace a copper ice shield and gutter on our slate roof. The pitch was wrong and it could not be adjusted and needed to be replaced. We were very happy with the quality of the work. I would highly recommend Jake Pedro. He was able to assess the issue and help us take care of a lingering problem. We also appreciated the help of Mark Vacarro in sales and Bob the supervisor. My only qualm is the price, this company is very pricey.

I couldn't be more pleased with the work done by Jake Pedro and his team, from G F Sprague. They were here for two weeks and did a great job of closing up and cleaning up every day. Jake was both professional and personable, keeping me up to date on what was done and what was to be done when. The job grew substantially as problems with chimney flashing and a flat dormer roof became apparent during the initial inspection. (Neither was a surprise to me.) Jake showed me detailed photos of the problem areas and offered various solutions, fully priced out and fully explained. I called them because they bailed us out two winters ago when we had ice dams and our then roofer couldn't help because of other commitments. I called Sprague back then because of their rating on Angie's List. Will definitely use them again and asked that they call next spring to schedule an inspection.

Jerry was very thorough. After he went up on the roof, he explained what it would need to be repaired, replaced with slate or replaced with asphalt. He also gave me a cost estimate for each option and advised me regarding whether it would be worth it to just repair vs. getting it replaced. I truly appreciate his expert advice and the fact that he did not try to push a contract on me.

Given the size of the job, GF Spraque sent two crews and got the entire project done in two days. Ralph was the crew chief and his team was neat, fast and careful. The experience was substantially better than my past experience with roofers. The company did an excellent job communicating and explaining things from start (the estimate) to finish (a post job meeting a week later to go over any remaining questions. The only hitch was an outside light fixture that was accidentally broken during the project. They deducted the cost of a replacement from the final bill and apologized for the inconvenience. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

They say that you get what you pay for. In this case, I believe we got the best job around with the best warranty, but it was not cheap. I had several bids that were cheaper, much cheaper but I wanted complete details and Sprague gave them to me. I had total confidence that the job was going to be done correctly and my roof worrying days were in the past. But, these people are the experts ?in all ways measurable from sales to installation to service. Their communication is terrific. I recommend them as likely they are the best around.

Slate roof and failing gutters due to ice dams. Superb craftsmanship and professionalism. Premium price was worth it, and will use in future.

The rep came back as a follow-up. ?We told her how uncomfortable we were with the lack of thoroughness in the evaluation. ?She said that she would speak to Jerry and get back to us. No one ever got ?back to us.

They workers left a small scratch on my rubber roof. It was not a big deal but I wanted them to repair that spot. I complained and they came back to fix it.

GF Sprague was very responsive to my inquiry after I found water leaking from my kitchen light fixture. We were able to quickly set up a meeting to evaluate the problem. We decided to use GF Sprague as I would not trust that many roofers would be as trained and qualified to handle flat rubber roofs. All of the employees that I met with/performed the work were extremely knowledgable, professional and detail oriented. The roofers came to prep the site and were conscientious to leave the site protected from rain. They diligently worked throughout the two-day project and thoroughly cleaned up the worksite. Much thought and care was given to provide us with the best solution and result for our situation. The roofers were very considerate and patient to explain the process and took pictures to help me understand the problems. I highly recommend GF Sprague and will use them again in the future.

Mark came out and gave an estimate. Assured us that only 1/2 the roof needed to be done and that our skylights could be repaired rather than replaced (we questioned him on this multiple times and he over and over again told us it would be "no problem"). We had to commit that night in order to get the Angie's list discount and so we signed the contract. After that we hear nothing from him for several weeks even though he promised to call us to confirm that he had arranged for the skylight company to come out and do repair work. Foreman calls to schedule appointment, I mention the lack of response from Mark and he has him call us to again assure us he is working on it and then again never hear from him again. Foreman shows up for meeting to "make sure everything is set to go" and tells us the entire roof really needs to be replaced, "at least in the next 4 years," and that there is no way the skylight company would be able to repair the skylights, adding an additional > $10,000 to the cost of the job for the skylights alone, never mind the rest of the roof. We felt we were lied to by Mark in order to close the deal. We were able to get out of the contract though the owner refused to call us back to discuss our concerns about this bait and switch type behavior. We ended up going with another company that did a beautiful job replacing the entire roof (for not much more than GF Sprague quoted us for 1/2 the roof) and did the skylights. Would never recommend GF Sprague to anyone.

Jerry came to the house on time and performed a thorough inspection of the roof. It is clear he knows the business inside and out and I am confident that his crews would have done a top quality job with the roof. He was on time and very polite and courteous. The issue was the price. about $47,000 for a 3,000 sq foot house. Now, $33K was for the roof. $9,500 was to repoint and recap the top ~4 rows of 2 average size brick chimneys and $4-5K for one copper gutter about 25 feet long. This did not include a few thousand extra for repairing some trim boards ($23/foot) or any damaged plywood under the shingles ($8/sq foot). Jerry gave the most professional sales pitch (incorporating an array of classic and varied selling tactics like creating trust, urgency, and fear) I could imagine for a roof installation. If you want peace of mind and have money to burn, give them a call. If you need to be careful with your expenditures, you're probably best finding a company with more competitive pricing. I had the roof redone by another professional roofer for $16,000 and there hasn't been a single leak in the 2 years since, including the very tough winter of 2014-2015

Jerry Sprague and his team were a pleasure to work with. While we originally anticipated simply replacing the shingles on our roof, when the old shingles were removed, it was discovered that most of the underlying roof boards were rotten and needed to be replaced. Jerry suggested that we could lengthen the life of the new roof if we improved the insulation and the ventilation while the roof was opened up, to which we agreed. Everything was handled professionally and pleasantly. While Jerry's price is not the lowest, I firmly believe you get what you pay for ... evidenced by the fact we had no ice dam damage last winter with our 18-year-old roof while almost everyone we know suffered significant damage. I unequivocally recommend G.F. Sprague & Co.

The job went well. They scheduled an appointment, arrived on time and finished with their time frame. They were very clean, no mess to deal with when they were finished. I would use them again.

Very professional and did an excellent job. Job took longer than expected because they had to wait for some materials. Everything else went as planned. So far so good. They were a bit pricier than other roofers, but they used high quality materials and provided excellent craftsmanship.
