I met Nan at an open house and I thought she would be a good agent. I found an amazing deal and wanted to make an offer. We were delayed by the fact that I was not pre-approved (more on that later) but on the day I wanted to make the offer, it took her over three hours just to fill out the offer. I lost the house. Ok sure.. fine. Next home.. I knew I wanted it. I got the first available look at the home and we went right to her office to fill out the offer that night. It took 3 hours and I finally had to leave -- I told her to put in the offer that night. I have no idea if she did. She never called me the next day to tell me anything. When I called her at 4 she told me we had lost it. No counter? Nothing? I offered close to full price. It should never take over 30 minutes to write up an offer. She was a scary driver and she must not have noticed how my hands were holding on to the car door handles every time we went out. Or noticed how many times I wanted to *meet* her someplace. When a period came when I didn't see much that I liked, she stared suggesting I was too picky or that I was "afraid." Finally when a new unit came on the market that I wanted I called her early and told her I wanted to put in an offer that day. When we hung up, I thought she was going to put in the offer. At 7 PM that night she e-mails me and it was clear she hadn't done anything at all. On the subject of financing, her finance people.. did not seem to know what a pre-approval was. Every time I wanted to buy a house I would have to produce my info like I was getting a mortgage. Pay stubs, tax returns. Every time. This took forever. They would never give ME a number to work with. Rather, I would find something I would like and then have to get in touch with them to get the letter -- which always approved me at like 1K over what I was going to offer. Also every time I discussed refinancing my current home with these people it would come back with the fact that I would have to pay PMI. When I moved on, to a new agent, his finance guy told me I was eligible for a HARP refinance loan -- so I wouldn't have to pay PMI... saving me tons of money. My current broker is on here rated A. That is all I will say.
