Master Chimney Sweepers

It was terrific. The workman who came was professional, did a great job explaining everything, was extremely tidy and patient, and just a pleasure to work with. Having had a bad experience with another company several years ago I was uneasy. But not anymore! Master Chimney Sweepers has totally changed that, and now my home will be safer because I'll get the chimneys checked and cleaned regularly.

I'd highly recommend this company, at least based on the service I got today from them and their employee, Joe. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He showed me, as well as explaining, how 1 section of my old terra cotta flue liner had collapsed, partially blocking the flue. We had expected something like this, since our furnace had shut down due to the backdraft safety switch being activated. Still it was nice to get a very detailed explanation of why these old flue liners can deteriorate and the best solutions going forward. I had scheduled this cleaning with a competitor, Barry John Chimney Services, but they were booked out 3 weeks, and couldn't do anything to get to us earlier, even though our furnace kept going off. After 2 weeks waiting for them, our furnace got worse, so I called back and they were condescending and dismissive. I began calling other companies. Master had it done in 24 hours. Obviously, they took our situation more seriously. There must have been some extra time spent removing debris and talking it through with me but it was all included in the original price. Also, there was no upselling or pushing of services. It seems to be a company with high integrity.

Bobby came out to inspect our whole chimney & clean out the flue on the boiler. He was prompt, courteous, and offered some good "how-to's" for using the fireplace in our new house. I really appreciated that he didn't try to pressure me on anything, we have a minor issue that can be likely be solved either by keeping our fireplace glass doors closed when not in use, or by installing a new $600 chimney cap/damper type thing. Seeing as we haven't been in the house long, he suggested we just keep an eye on everything, and only opt for the damper replacement if it seems necessary. CSIA certified (you want this!), and covering a large service area, I'll definitely be using them again.

Master Chimney Sweeps were very polite on the phone. They gave us a quote over the phone and held to it at the time of service. They called the morning of service to let us know when they were on their way. They did a great job, were very professional, and gave recommendations for the upkeep of our fireplace. We'll definitely be using again.

Tony from Master Chimney Sweepers was professional, punctual and provided a detailed account about the work that was performed. That work included cleaning of a fireplace that had quite a buildup of creosote and cleaning of the hot water heater liner. He was thorough, spending a decent amount of time cleaning the chimney from the roof. He also recommended items that would help prevent glazing in the chimney.

They did a good job. They were informative and they were clear about their pricing and what they did. They seemed well informed and polite and showed up when they said they would. It took as long as they said it would take and they charged as much as they said they would charge.

Master Chimney Sweepers not only did other work, but sent their positive report to my agent.

I called to get my fireplace and wood burning stove examined before winter. I called and left a message with an individual who told me I would be called back. I was called back within the hour. The individual who called me back was belligerent and rude. They were unable to get my e-mail address correct and responded with unprofessional attitude. The appointment was made with much difficulty. I called back and cancelled the appointment immediately and went with a different company.

Basic chimney sweep. When I said I noteiced them on Angie's list they basically quoted me a very high price and then discounted it down to the higher end of the average range. I would use them again if the price was closer to $200 ( closer to the average my neighbors paid thru other companies) . Overall I was happy with the service with the exception of price.

Have a bad taste in my mouth from this experience. Called to make an appt for a chimney cleaning, with about a three week lead time. Explained that I had a fireplace and an oil burner. Had a very detailed conversation with a guy named Ed, who quotes me $299. Conversation includes a detailed discussion of the separate flues for the burner and fireplace. Fast forward to the service call. I'm at work in a meeting, spouse is at home with service guy. Suddenly I see a text from my spouse. Should we pay an additional $189 to have both flues cleaned? Huh?? Just by chance, I had taken notes during the call with Ed and had them with me. I leave the meeting, hop in the car and head home. Explain the situation to spouse. Call Master Chimney from the road. Bill, the owner, gets on the line almost before I can introduce myself and immediately agrees to honor the quoted price. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but thanks to my notes there's no question in my mind about what was agreed to when the appointment was made. Unclear what went wrong here, but not happy about it.

They are great to work with. They are professional and they do good work. Their prices are great and they call every year to schedule an appointment if I need one. They show up on time for the appointment.

I had master chimney sweepers to instal a new liner for my chimney. The technician was very polite and on time. He came to my house in the morning at 9:30am and installed a stainless steel liner to each of my two chimneys. He finished the whole job at 6:10pm in the afternoon. I am very happy with what he did, but I think they are way too expensive. For one liner installation they charged me $3800. One week later, I called other chimney companies, their price for the same job is $1500. I was fooled. I will not use master chimney again. Update on 10/17/2014: Bill reached me after my comments on the price. He explained the reason for their charge and offered me a rebate. Here I'd like to clarify that I am happy with the quality of the work, only felt the price was too expensive compared to the other companies. After his rebate, I'd like to change my rate here as well. I appreciate Bill's professionalism and honesty. I might use them again in the future.

Prompt, courteous, punctual, neat, professional. From the original inquiry phone call with "Dave" to the completion of the job by field representative, "Sean" (who is an asset to his company), it was a pleasure to deal with this company. A bit more expensive than some of its competitors - but, you get what you pay for - and, in this case that meant quality service and peace of mind that the job was done right. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

They arrived on time and were very knowledgeable and friendly to both me and my pet. The price was fine and they work completed in a timely manner. He gave me very good advise on work that in his expert opinion was not needed or recommended - in the end saving me money. I will call them back again next year.

Whole process was painless and professional. Vinny took time to answer my questions and explain the process, as well as offer suggestions for the older wood stove present in the house we bought.

Tony was great! He came on time, was friendly, and did a thorough job cleaning out the furnace liner. He took pictures of the chimney and showed me areas which he was concerned about. He didn't pressure me into anything but instead took the time to answer all my questions. I plan to continue to use Master Chimney Sweepers.

I have some chimney and fireplace repairs that I needed done. I called Master based on their reputation. I knew what needed to be repaired and was hoping for a free estimate, like most providers offer. Master said they'd come out and do an inspection for a fee...$200 or something. I stated that I already had an inspection and cleaning and was hoping for a firm quote on what needed to be done. The gentleman gave me his rates for a half day of masonry work and a full day, $1100 and $2200 respectively. I told him I didn't want to commit without knowing what the true cost was going to be. He said he'd contact me when somebody was in the area. A month went by, maybe more...no word. I went with another provider and the cost for the repair is only about $500. I suspect Master does good work but are a little high in price and resistant to free estimates like most other providers offer.

Jay from Master Chimney was awesome, showed up within 15 minutes of expected time, explained EVERYTHING he was doing, and did a fantastic job. A little pricey, but well worth it. Cleaned up after, and was very thorough. Made sure we were venting from the furnace properly before he left - was running better than expected! Great service!

He was very good, and very efficient! He was able to spend some extra time on our roof fixing some repairs that we needed. Very punctual, and even came early!

Much to expensive for 1/2 hours work. Who are these people kidding? I will never use this company again, a complete rip-off even though they indicate I received a so called repeat customer discount of $120!

Our chimney is tall, and the first sweep we called was unable to do the work. Jay showed up on time, did the work, and recommended that we call a mason to repoint the rooftop chimney when spring arrives. He cleaned up well. What more could we ask?

I will go out of my way NOT to recommend Master Chimney Sweepers. First trip they cleaned our chimney which was way over priced. Second visit they installed a smoke guard. When I heard amount of $359 after it was installed I was floored. He was chargeing $175 for part (which I just googled and can purchased for $60) and $175 for less then 15 minutes of installation, claiming he was also charging us the time he drove to Nadick to pick it up. My husband set up both appointments and assumed they where being fair. Shame on us. I will never use them again. To be fair once I complained at price he was quick to drop $50 off the total. $300 still too much to pay for services given. Our installer was Nick White. DO NOT USE THEM DO CALL SOMEONE ELSE

Very prompt in returning calls for the appointment and changes. Very pleasant to deal with on phone and in home. Great job.

Haven't had our flu inspected for quite awhile and our oil burner company suggested we do that. Our fireplace chimney cleaner, Master Chimney Sweepers was called to do the job. The guy who showed up (Vinny) was punctual, courteous, and very helpful in explaining exactly what he was going to do, what he was doing, and what he found. Thankfully, we don't need any expensive repairs, but we will be having our flu inspected more often, and if we ever need anything to be done, we will definitely call Master Chimney. And request Vinny.
