Kitchen went well although he did not stay to finish-up. I held back 500 for him to return and finish-up. I have no problems paying for the agreed job. The kitchen was to include tile-backsplash for an additional fee although it was to be part of the entire job. The tile was ordered. However he did not stay to finish job. He did not finish two damaged cabinets from his workmanship. He had several add one prices that should have been part of the job. One was for small area of painting. The additional fees were paid and the paint work was done sloppy.

Response from Farina Remodeling And Handyman Services
Customer would not pay the final 500.00 of the original work to be done, despite completion of the kitchen. The backsplash was not part of the original kitchen job. I was asked on a daily basis to provide services around the house at no charge, of which I generously completed. The cabinets the customer is referring to were cut to manufacturer's specifications to accomodate a microwave vent and feeds/drain for the sink. Neither of these cabinets incurred any "damage". I went back to take touch-up the paint on the back door, which also was not part of the original job (another extra). Due to non-payment for completion of the kitchen, I decided it was best not to continue working with this customer. The original estimate for the kitchen remodel was 9,800 and I was asked to come down in price to 9,000, which I did. l was more than generous with pricing and all the free extras to accomodate this customer.

John matched the oak to an existing floor and carefully estimated the amount of wood required for the two additional floors. He moved out the furniture in the rooms, removed and discarded the rugs that covered the floors. And sealed the new floors after buffing. Finally he carefully replaced the furniture. In addition he refitted the doors in both rooms to account for the change in height.
Description of Work: John did two oak floors onn the second floor of our house.

The quote was higher than expected. I got two bids, and the prices were similar to each other, but not to my budget. He conversed well with me, but I didn't see him writing anything or noting down anything so, I don't know how much he was really listening. He came out pretty quick, and he was on time.

We are very impressed with John's attention to detail, his ability to spot potential problems before they occur and to involve us in arriving at solutions. We appreciate John's neatness and daily clean-up. We are extremely happy with our stylish new tiled bath.
Description of Work: John Farina remodeled our master bath by converting a standard tub area into a custom tiled walk-in shower with built in shower seat. The job also included replacing the bathroom bowl and tiling the bathroom floor on the diagonal. John completed several layers of sub-floor to insure against future leakage and suggested a tile layout for the shower area that would be most pleasing to the eye.

Farina provided an estimate for a complete renovation of my master bathroom. He arrived right on time at my house for a walk-through. He spent the better part of an hour with me and my husband, talking about renovation plans. He had a measuring tape and took measurements to quickly size up the job. He advised us on schedule and sequencing of the project and, made helpful suggestions on finishes and cost of materials. Soon afterwards he followed up with an estimate. Farina's estimate was right in line with other highly-recommended contractors. Farina was polite, professional and he clearly put some time and effort into helping us. I would not hesitate to call Farina for the next job in my house.
Description of Work: I contacted Farina Remodeling & Handyman Services for a quote to get my master bathroom remodeled.
People from Farina Remodeling and Handyman Services Company were really personable. They were prompt. We would use them again in the future.

I found John's work to be of the highest quality. He completed the work on schedule, returned phone calls promptly, and cleaned work sites completely. Best of all, his prices are extremely reasonable.
Description of Work: John repaired existing kitchen cabinets and built a new four-door custom made cabinet with glass fronts which matched existing cabinets for color and style. He crafted these cabinets off site. John also removed two old bathroom vanities, installed new vanities, and completed plumbing & all carpentry work necessary to install the two new vanities. He also built a wonderful 4 X4 sandbox for the yard.

I ended up going with another company, because Farina wanted to do a lot more work than we were looking for. He wanted to do a very large project that was out of our budget and we wanted a smaller job. He was very honest about specializing on larger jobs and he did not try to sell us the larger job. He told us up front about his kind of work being more expensive than what we were looking for. We appreciated his honesty. He did a thorough estimate and he made sure to look at everything while he was out. I give them all A’s for the service that they provided.

From the beginning through the end of the renovation, John was always professional. He made our house liveable during the renovation by keeping the workspace organized and clean. John was always available on the phone. Whenever I had a question, John always answered his phone. I think I only had to leave him a voicemail once during the six week renovation because he was always available by phone. All the work done was under permit and John met with the inspectors while we were at work. He was also great at being at our home when appliances were delivered and when propane was installed for our kitchen stove so we didn't personally need to be there. We are very happy with his work and will use him again to help us with rehabing our deck.
Description of Work: After three years in our house and cabinets falling off the wall, it was time for a budget minded kitchen renovation. We needed to find a contractor to help guide and work along side us. Our plan was to do some work ourselves and use a contractor to help with more complicated projects in the remodel. We planned, designed, and bought all the materials ourselves for a kitchen remodel with IKEA cabinets, appliances, and counters. After interviewing contractors throughout a year, we liked John Farina for his friendly approach, straight forward pricing, and willingness to work with us while we did some work ourselves. John helped with demolition of the old kitchen, laying the floor, patching drywall, assembling and installing cabinets, installing appliances, wrapping a soffit in wood and staining the beam, installing base molding, under cabinet and crown molding, and tiling the backsplash. John also arranged for electrical and plumbing (separate payment). John provided some extras for us like getting rid of old appliances, patching holes in walls, and providing guidance in the projects we undertook ourselves. He even lent us his tools on the weekends. He recommended staining our window frames to match the beam he wrapped in wood. It was a great suggestion and a nice design touch. He also recommended vendors that he liked dealing with for appliances and tile.

Excellently!!!! It looks fresh and clean and new!
Description of Work: John Farina cleaned old grout and caulk from a 2 person ceramic tile shower. Re-grouted and re-caulked, including a lot of effort to find OK colored grout for our weird colored shower tiles. He then re-grouted most of this large marble bathroom including marble tile counter space. He spent most of two days doing this carefully and neatly, let it dry over the weekend, and came back Monday morning, on time, to caulk everything. He was very considerate and quiet as I didn't feel well for the two days he was in the bathroom, he asked my opinion on everything and did what he said he would. The bathroom looks like it had a great face lift-and no more moldy melting old caulk!!!!

We went with John because his price was reasonable and he was well-reviewed on Angie's List. We were very pleased with the whole process and the results. He was completely accurate on his estimated costs and timing, and he was very conscientious throughout the whole process. We have two small kids and lived through the renovation without much stress -- John was able to work around us and kept everything clean and livable throughout the project. We were only without a usable kitchen for about three days. The kitchen remodel took longer than that, of course, but John made sure we could continue using as much of the kitchen as possible the whole time. All the work, including the work in the other rooms and the exterior work, was done efficiently and professionally.
Description of Work: John completely remodeled our kitchen (new ceiling, floor, walls, cabinets, countertop, and appliances), renovated three other rooms (including repairing plaster walls, removing a partition, putting new doors on a built-in cabinet, and painting), and performed a number of other repairs and upgrades outside (fixing gutters, replacing siding and trim on the garage, painting, fixing fence posts, and repairing a small deck).
John coordinated the job very well. He started and finished when he said he would, with minimal disruption to our busy household. We have 3 kids, and it was very important to minimize the time we had without a working kitchen. During the construction, he managed any unforeseen issues or schedule disruptions smoothly and professionally, to keep the job on track. He listened and adapted to all of our requests and we're very pleased with the final results. John's very easy to work with. I have recommended him to many friends. He recently did some deck construction for me, and the work was excellent.
Description of Work: John designed and remodeled our entire kitchen. He was very helpful with design recommendations for ease of use and appearance. He acted as general contractor/carpenter and handled the demolition and installation of new cabinets, granite countertops, tiling, new window installations and hardwood floor refinishing himself. John oversaw the plumbing and electrical work, and handled some minor plumbing work himself.

John Farine Remodeling does unbelievable tile work. I only hire the best people and this contractor is top of the line. He is friendly and he and his crew show up on time. They are very responsive to calls and really try to please their customers. I can't remember what the final cost was but I think it was about $65 per hour.
Description of Work: They installed 100 square foot of tiny marble tile in my shower using tweezers. They also installed kitchen cabinets for me.
