NU LOOK REFINISHING

Angie's List [*** Link removed ***] What a big surprise seeing NU-LOOKREFINISHING posting on Angies List, I do not think they deserve to be posting on Angie's list. Please read on............ Rich showed up in the morning (10/8/2015) and started the job by first setting up ventilation, then cleaning and preparing the tub. It also had very thin cracks (micro cracks) length wise, he said that it all would be covered and no longer visible after spraying it with Phenoseal. A bit more than 2 hrs into his work he said it had to dry, he left for 1,5 hrs to drive to Nahant to get more Phenoseal. Not sure why he did not bring enough with him. When he returned he seemed to rush applying the 3rd and last coat. (I read up: and most bathtub refinishers apply 4-5 coats). The next morning after it had dried I see that the application is uneven and showing some grooves inside the tub. I called him and he said 'NO problem" he would come bye the next day to touch it up. He never called back or showed up. I tried calling him and left messages on his phone was no answer, I assume he blocked me, or left town. I could not follow up, he only had given me his first name, no business address. I was taken advantage off, he only did the inside part of the tub + 2inches up all around the inside, the cracks also came back after a few months. Lousy job, and person and business. He charged me $514 He gave me a work order, and only after I asked him, a hand written 5 yr on finish and Lifetime repair warranty...supposedly. It all raised a red flag. What good is that for, if you can't get a response. So here, to my big surprise I see his posting on Angies List. I do not believe this so called (one man) business deserves to be on Angie's List. Now I am looking for someone that will do a better job.

We went to a Home Show in Boston looking for deals on tub surrounds or best companies to use for such a thing. We just happened to walk by the Nu Look booth towards the end and saw some pretty great examples of their work. Our tub is cast iron, not fiberglass and would be difficult and expensive to replace. After trying to refinish the tub ourselves 3 times in 3 years using the at home kit from the hardware store we had given up. But, after seeing the examples,the price, and warranty, we knew they would do a great job and save us more than a $1000. they were extremely nice and honest at the Home Show and we were able to set up an appointment to have it done later that week. We received a special price for scheduling while at the home show which was $100 off and they threw in the no slip grip on the bottom for free! Part of the reason it never worked when we did it ourselves is that it needs 72(!) hours to dry in low humidity. Their industrial system is ready to use after 24 hours. They came after our morning showers and we were able to use it the next day, so convenient. The guys that came were very friendly and were out in no time with almost no odor so it was safe for my toddler to take a nap after they left in the next room. The tub looks perfect, they caulked around the edges and cleaned up the stainless steel ring on the drain. We're definitely going to use them again soon to refinish our countertops.
