Power Plumbing amazed, they actually have a real person answer the phone. Prompt, courteous, above and beyond my expectations.

We own a two family home with separate heating systems. We've had oil heat for over 40 years. During the most recent service, the technician noted that one of our tanks had been patched and the company would no longer cover the costs if that tank were to leak. Rather than have the tank replaced, I took this as an opportunity to convert to gas heat. The gas company referred us to Power Plumbing and Heating. I called and Dave came out the next day to look over our situation. He spent approximately an hour with me as we discussed various options for the conversion. I decided to go with the combi heat/hot water systems which would eliminate our hot water heaters (already gas) as well as the old oil furnaces. He explained how the conversion would be done and that it would probably take four days to convert both systems. I care for my elderly parents at this house and Dave was very considerate and assured us that we would have hot water during the entire process. He did note that we'd be without heat for one night on each floor but, fortunately, the weather for the week was unusually warm. Dave came out the Friday before the conversion was to begin to pre-position equipment and the necessary supplies (except for the boilers). He told me they'd start Monday at 8:30. On Monday at 8, the supply company delivered the boilers and the remaining supplies. Dave and his crew arrived at 8:15 and began the conversion. By early afternoon, they had removed both oil furnaces. (This was a change in plans as they needed to remove both furnaces to have enough room to work.) By early evening when they left, both new boilers were in place and the majority of the plumbing for one system was complete while the other was not as far along. On Tuesday, the crew arrived just after 8:30 and got right to work. By early afternoon, the first system was up and running and they removed that floor's old water heater and sealed off the chimney vent. By early evening, the plumbing on the second system was almost complete. On Wednesday, they arrived at 8:30 and by early afternoon had the second system up and running as well. They removed that floor's water heater and sealed off the chimney vent. The crew then began cleanup and, by early evening, completed the job leaving the basement in excellent condition. (If it weren't for the new boilers and removed old equipment, you wouldn't know that anyone had been there working for three days.)

I made a call to the number listed around 9:00 am. I received a call back within the half hour. I explained the problem and Dave was at our house and had the issue fixed before noon. I was impressed with how quickly he was able to accommodate us, especially considering it was on a Sunday. Thankfully all that needed to be done was to clean the injector and inspect the furnace to make sure everything was operational. I would definitely recommend Dave Power.

Work went well all places were accessible and I helped.

This was a big and apparently somewhat complicated job as the house is over 100 years old with some funky features. From the beginning, Dave was very responsive, helpful, and professional. He is great at answering and returning phone calls (which was not true of other plumbers in the area that I had contacted first). He is also friendly, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. There was a three month delay in getting the job completed due to the gas company's failure to install the service line (no fault of Dave's, and he even tried to help through his own contacts with National Grid). Once the line was installed, Dave completed the job quickly and efficiently. The cost was expensive, but he did throw in a leaky faucet repair for free! I recommend him highly!

We called with sewage back up in the basement and within the hour they had one of their plumbers out to fix it. The guy worked on it for almost 2 hours and thought it was fixed. Well one week later we had the issue again. Dave the owner sent the guy out within the hour and this time he snaked it from another drain and he got what he was looking for...someone put down wash cloths down the drain. Power Plumbing service was great and they backed their work out and came out the second time free of cost. I would recommend them int he future.

Dave and his team were excellent. Dave picked up the phone and made himself available within a couple of days to do a pretty big project on very short notice. He was courteous, straightforward, and set reasonable expectations about cost and time to complete the work. In addition, he took great care to explain the problem to us and go over different alternatives to resolve it. They took great care to protect our surrounding belongings and the finished product was a clean, up to date drain pipe. They had to jackhammer to expose the old pipe and left the area looking much nicer than it did to begin with.

Dave was super to work with - very responsive to my initial service call and accomodating of my changing installation schedule (first toilet I had delivered was cracked and installation had to be delayed). He had useful input on what to consider when selecting a toilet and the installation was fast, tidy and all has been working well! He also identified a smart fix for my wonky shower drain which needed resealing - great solution until I am ready to renovate. Informed solutions without any pressured up-sale is a great thing!

The crew did a great job. In order to replace the pipe, they had to sawcut our existing concrete floor (approx 10 feet). They did a very thorough job of prepping their work space. The crew was on time, got the job done much faster than we expected, and left no mess. We really appreciated the quick turn around to get the work scheduled and completed.

Based on the Angie?s List rave reviews, I called Dave about a leak that had developed behind our shower wall. Dave and his team came out and did a fantastic job of replacing a very old leaking shower diverter valve. It was replaced with a modern single handled valve. A very nice chrome plate covers where the two faucet handles and old diverter valve were. I was so pleased with Dave that I decided to replace my 40 plus year old gas furnace and 10 year old hot water heater. I was very impressed with the work he and his team did. Dave gave me the options as far as what he would recommend. My instinct was to go with the most powerful top of the line furnace, but Dave said that I didn?t need one that powerful. All the work was done over a two day period. Everything went great. They took away my ancient furnace and similarly ancient water heater and left the place spotless. I would highly recommend Power Plumbing. The fact that he would convince me that a smaller cheaper furnace was best for me, says a lot about Dave. He is very friendly and very knowledgeable. I will definitely be using him for all my future plumbing needs. I apologize for the tardiness of my review, but you don't end up with a 40 year old furnace by being proactive.

Boiler and water heater repalcement. About 10k job. 4 miles away. Did not want the work.

Our existing water heater failed. We called at 8 am Monday morning and by the afternoon we had hot water again, thanks to Power Plumbing. We appreciate the hard work and professionalism.

It went great. Dave has done work for me in the past, so when I called him I knew I would get a quick, honest answer to my question. He did most of the paperwork for my rebate with National Grid, scheduled the work and was done in a few days. He left the basement clean and you would never even know he was there.

I got them from Angie's List. I had them do furnace for me and also had them do some plumbing since. I liked them very much. I had gotten a furnace about ten years earlier and I thought the price that I got for this furnace with installation was fair. They did everything beautifully. They got all the furnace, came one day and finished putting the furnace in. They had another group of guys come in to take care of the old tank for me so I didn't have any trouble taking care of that. The furnace has been working fine. I'm already calling them back probably this summer just to go over it. I called them since on some plumbing jobs like drain and things like that and everything seems fine. They did a real nice job. I thought their price was fair. The quality of service was very good. I had a problem with a sink, I called them up, they came the next day and took care of it.

Called the company to request an estimate for my initial small job in my laundry/ mud room. The owner called immediately and made it clear he could not be bothered to come out because we were at the beginning of our project. Hopefully we can find a plumber to take care of our small I tidal project before we begin our 5 bathroom renovation.

The first time Dave came out to give us an estimate. After we hired him to do the repairs, he returned and worked out our laundry list of plumbing issues. This last time, he was able to diagnose our issue over the phone, I sent him a picture of the water heater label, and he ordered a replacement and came to replace it in record time. The problem was solved seamlessly and efficiently. Dave gave us a fair price, did great work, responded quickly, and solved our plumbing issues. We would absolutely recommend him. Thanks, Dave!

Last night at 5:30 I received a call from my son stating that our basement was flooded with about 2 inches of water. I was out of town and needed to get someone over there fast. I called my regular plumber and my back up plumber and neither could get to my house. I then proceeded to call about 10 other local plumbers, and most of my calls went straight to voicemail. I logged onto Angie's List and came upon Power Plumbing and called. David answered my call, and within minutes of explaining my situation, he was gathering pumps and people and heading to my house in Friday evening Route 128 rush-hour traffic! I was not a customer - just a random person with a problem - and he responded with speed, professionalism and skill. My husband arrived home and said that David and his crew did an amazing job - they pumped out our basement, identified the problem, installed a new sump pump, and made suggestions for future work so that we would not have the problem again. I cannot say enough about this company and about David. I am very grateful to them, and give them a stellar recommendation. Thanks, David!

Called them due to leak and flood in kitchen. spoke with someone who first told me how much more they would charge after 5 pm and on weekends. He was supposed to get back to me and never did. This is bad for business and I ended up going with a referral from a colleague at work...

The drain pipe under my kitchen sink rusted and finally just dropped. I called Power Plumbers and they arrived when they said they would, replaced the pipe, were very professional and the cost was much less that I had expected. I would certainly hire them again.

Dave is a knowledgable, experienced and personable plumber who we would definitely use again. We highly recommend Power Plumbing and thanks for a quality job done well.

Great! We had received his services before and we were happy. He arrived quickly and was professional and honest. He unclogged a main water pipe in our basement that had exploded. We would recommend him to anyone and would 100-percent call him again if we needed plumbing services.

the job from start to finish was excellent

I highly recommend Power Plumbing. I called Power Plumbing after finding water running down my wall and under the rug from a water leak behind a wall in my house. Dave Power was very friendly on the phone and told me he would arrive at my house within an hour from the call understanding the emergency. It was in November when this happened and I could not use my forced hot water heat while my water was turned off. It was a relief to see Dave arrive at my house promptly within an hour. Dave is very friendly and knowledgeable which put me at ease immediately. He quickly discovered where the leak was coming from and fixed the pipe. He left the area where he had been working very clean. He also checked my heating system for damage and told me he would follow up with me to make sure everything is alright. I was happy to tell Dave that everything was alright on his follow up phone call. I would recommend Dave Power to my friends and family and will call him again for any plumbing work that I need done in the future.

Dave came by my house the same day I first called him. He was very experienced with oill to gas conversion and knew all about the Mass Save program. He was very helpful when discussing details such as the square footage of my house, hot water needs etc. Through-out the process, Dave was available and responsive. Whenever I called him, he either answered the phone or called me back within a short time. He frequently called me throughout the process to update me or to ask me for an update on something. He was very helpful in dealing with the Mass Save people, National Grid, and the city. When the Mass Save people needed something worded differently on the proposal, Dave came by my house the same day with a re-written proposal. Dave prepared for the job ahead of time by getting some supplies set up in my cellar, then when National Grid got the gas line installed, he was available right away and finished the job in a couple of days. He tested everything and explained the system to me. He left me all the documentation together in one place and even submitted the warranty paperwork for me. UPDATE: I started having problems with the Navien water heater Dave installed several months after installation of this brand new, very expensive system. I first called Dave in May 2013 to tell him I had no hot water. He came out that day and several more times when I started having intermittent problems with no hot water. Finally in July he replaced a defective valve and finally solved the problem. On 9/22/13, Dave sent me a bill for $250.00 for troubleshooting on 5/23, 6/12, 6/21, and 7/1/13 "replaced flow sensor defective". When I asked Dave why he was billing me for a defective part that should be covered under warranty he said he "went down there 4 times, nothing was wrong". Well obviously there was something wrong since I kept having no hot water. When the faulty valve was replaced, there was no more problem. Dave also said "I don't think you should have to pay" and that he would call the Navien rep. I have not received any more bill for this part of the problem. On 11/28/13 (Thanksgiving morning) one of the new valves to the boiler started leaking. Dave sent me a bill for $500 for "old water lines replaced". This bill is currently in dispute as I have pictures that clearly show the leak coming from one of the valves Dave installed.

as i mentioned, I am still in the process of getting quotes for the job, so this review is simply based on his quote. He returned my call pretty quickly and quoted 12k with equipment (worth about 5k) over the phone. It was good that he set the expectation over the phone, not looking to waste my time or his. That being said, I?m not looking for Mercedes Benz of plumbing, just a good value, which means solid job for a good price, moving on to the next quote.
