We were given Gabriel s name from our real estate agent and contacted him along with 3 other contractors. It was obvious from the start that the scope of the work was semi-daunting for Gabriel but he has a "Can Do" spirit and a great attitude. He was by far the best price we got and was the one we liked the most (2 very important factors). The work started out with the needed demo (about 2 weeks, the house was a mess but he cleaned it every day), followed by the moving of doors and walls, replacing damaged wall board and prepping most of the unit for the remodel (about 3 weeks). The actual remodel of the unit took about 3 months in total after the demo and prep-work due to delivery delays from the various suppliers I used (cabinets, plumbing, windows/doors, etc.). Our original goal was to be in by Thanksgiving but we didn't get in until just before New Years. Gabriel was always at the unit when he was supposed to be and was respectful of the other owners in the building.
Description of Work: The project entailed semi-gutting our 921 foot 2 unit. Moving a couple of doors, opening some arch ways, reinforcing load bearing walls, completely remodeling our kitchen, combining 1 medium and 1 small bath into 1 large bath with pass through, installing windows and doors throughout, adding 30 ceiling lights, removing a wood burning stove and hearth, patching the chimney, installing bamboo flooring in the master bedroom and closet, tiling the bathroom floor and shower, painting the entire unit, skim coating the ceiling to cover the texture (not popcorn), new switches and outlets, all new appliances (sink, disposal, built-in: oven, cook top, dishwasher, and fridge) in the kitchen, all new amenities (Tub/shower, 2 console style vanity sinks and toilet) in the bath, re-ducting for bathroom and dryer vents, replaced ceiling fans, new trim throughout, new wall board where needed, re-finished the original hardwood flooring. Labor $35k, Materials 40k (I ordered all but wood and cabinets).
