The person who came, Madison, could not have been nicer or more professional. He gave me an estimate, had all the parts he needed right on the truck, did the work right away. They even email you an invoice summarizing what they did and the parts and labor charges. Sub-zeros are not inexpensive to buy or repair, but this one was 15 years old so I can't really blame it for needing a few new parts. I would definitely call Clarke again. They are the only guys anywhere near Boston that the Sub-zero company directly recommends on their own website.
Description of Work: Our sub-zero fridge died overnight. It turns out it had tripped the circuit breaker because only about 1% of the condenser was working and trying to cool down the whole fridge so it was running constantly and trying to do too much. At first, they were not going to be able to come for two days, but they had a cancellation and ended up coming the same day, replacing the condenser and a couple of other minor things (tubes, a gasket).

The unit is 5 1/2 years old and was not cooling. I called Clarke after researching Sub-Zero service through Angies List. The woman in the service department told me that the trip charge was $135.00. When the service technician arrived he assessed the problem. He had the parts needed with him and said that it would be a 4 hour job and the cost was $555.00. He arrived at 8:30 AM and left at 11:00 AM which is only 2 1/2 hours. He did not reduce the cost even though he did not spend the 4 hours to diagnose and complete the service. This charge was for labor only since the parts are still under warranty. Also, he said the labor was only guaranteed 6 months. I would not recommend this company ever. I feel I was charged for labor not performed.

We bought a house with the subzero which is 18 yrs old, it was over frosting in the freezer. I called yesterday about an appt. and they had a very nice guy, very knowledgeable, come to my house today, had the parts on the truck so no need to wait for ordering. They were very responsive, very professional and very reasonable. The will be the only repair company I will use for now on.

They were professional and did a wonderful job. I got their name from the place I bought the machine. He diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, even ordered the part while still at the house and said he will get there much quicker and came in and installed it. It had to be quick because I had another which was not related to it. He came back and it was really great, personable, nice and appropriate.

Excellent. Another company had tried 3 times to fix it. That repairman took 4-5 hours each time. Clark charged $80 less and fixed it in 2.5 hours the first time.

It was one they had on display so it was almost half price. We got a wicked good deal. It was an unusual experience. They brought us in and were very friendly at the front desk. They offered beverages and treats. They took us to a little room and showed us a little movie about the facility and then we were free to wander about the showroom. The saleslady came by and located us. She was very helpful. She gave us all the time and information that we needed. It was a very positive experience and we would recommend them. It is sort of by appointment. We called to see a salesperson at a designated time. I don't know what would happen if you just showed up at the door. It was certainly not a problem. We made an appointment and showed up at the right time. Everything went great.

Overall, the experience has been excellent. They were recommended by the company that remodeled our kitchen. The range of their products along with their showroom was an experience in itself. They offer cooking classes, demonstrations, and support after the product has been purchased. They were excellent overall, and we've worked with them on a second home that we had for appliance purchasing.

Our 25 year old sub zero refrigerator was not cooling. Clarke came out the next day, diagnosed the problem, had the part on the truck and made the repair. What more can one ask?

Very well. Most places won't service a Subzero that old. Clarke's had a technician on site within 48 hrs of my call. He spent 2 hrs going over it and performed necessary services. Works fine now. Clarke's was up front about the minimum cost of service call at $135. So, while $350 total cost isn't cheap, they could easily have ripped us off with un-necessary work or component replacement (I would have bet that we were staring at a new condenser and a lot more expense).
Description of Work: 30 yr old Subzero refrig/freezer first stopped cooling then after some coil cleaning began to work but condenser got and remained very hot. Most places won't service a Subzero that old. Clarke's had a technician on site 48 hrs after my call, he spent 2 hrs working on it, got it sorted out and didn't try to rip us off.

Description of Work: Steve from Clarke company came out and looked at & evaluated the problem we were having with "condensation building up on the outside of the SubZero refrigerator unit" particulary around the bottom frezer unit. He pulled away the refrigerator kick plate at the bottom of the unit to have a look with a flash light underneath. He saw considerable RUST on all the screws/bolts all the way to the back under the unit which he said was a definite indication of a leak from the unit & full saturation from INSIDE the walls of the unit. He also saw the saturation to our wood floors from this leaking issue. He checked the gaskets and concluded the gaskets were still in good enough shape that it was not worth our spending the over $200+ to replace those when indeed the unit had interior saturation (a leak) in the insulation walls which he said rendered it "unrepairable". There was no way to find a leak in the insulation so his recommendation was to replace the refrigerator entirely before summer heat was upon us and we'd have more problems with the unit leaking through our kitchen floor.

Extremely well. Steve was very professional and knowledgable. His advice helped me to make a difficult decision. I decided to replace the frig.
Description of Work: The freezer side of a SubZero refrigerator was having difficulty maintaining temperature during hot days. The tech. (Steve) came and promptly diagnosed the problem as a bad freezer side compressor (this unit has two. One for the frig and one for the freezer). He honestly reccomended that the repair, which would cost approx. $950.00, was not gauranteed because of the age of the frig (27 yrs old).

Very professional. Another company's repairman had given me an estimate and told me that, though the parts were covered under Sub Zero's 12-year warranty (the fridge is 10 years old), I was not eligible because I was not the original owner. After he left, with the parts information in hand, I called Sub Zero directly; they informed me that I was indeed covered and gave me the names of two authorized repair companies, one of which was Clark. Clark gave me an estimate over the phone; it was significantly higher than that of the previous company, but since I wouldn't have to pay for parts, I would still save over $100. The Clark person I spoke with scheduled an appointment for the next day and made sure that the truck would have the parts I needed so the repairman wouldn't have to make two trips. The repairman showed up on time, immediately put booties on without me asking (the previous repairman didn't have booties and wouldn't take his boots off, citing insurance requirements), was very pleasant, explained what needed to be done and why, finished the work quickly, and cleaned up nicely. The fridge has worked perfectly since.
