On July 10 I brought the dehumidifier to A-Z along with my warranty paperwork. I was told that someone would call in a day or two to tell me what needed to be done -- nobody ever called. On July 29 (yes, I was trying to be patient!) I called and had to leave a voicemail - no response. I left another voicemail the next day - still no response. On July 31 someone finally answered the phone and told me that a part had to be ordered and would take 10 to 12 days to ship. On August 28 I called for a status report and was told the dehumidifier was ready to pick up. I asked when they were planning to call me and was told, "We were planning to call you today". Right! I asked why it took so long and I was told that it takes a long time to get parts from the factory and they also misplaced my dehumidifier for several days (no surprising if you saw the clutter in this place!) I was told I could pick it up the next day (8/29)because they would be open all day. On the 29th, I called at 11:00 am to say I was on my way, but there was no answer; I didn't bother to leave a voicemail. I called every half hour until someone finally answered. He said he was tied up in Boston but would be in the office by 2:30. I drove to their office at 3:00 and it was closed. I called from the parking lot and the same person told me to wait because they were on the way. At 3:15 they showed up, and finally gave me the dehumidifier. The machine seems to be working, but I don't think it should take more than 7 weeks to fix a small appliance. I will never use this company again.
Description of Work: I have a Danby dehumidifier that needed a repair under the manufacturer's warranty. The Danby customer service department sent me to A-Z Appliance Service for the repair.

As I write this review, I am still waiting for my appliance to be returned to me. I used A to Z b/c it was recommended by the manufacturer of the appliance. They picked up my wine refridgerator (after cancelling on me twice with little notice) to take to the shop for repair, quoted me a price, and a time frame (3 days). It has now been 4 weeks and I have not had one phone call or update. I haven't been updated on the work they are doing, price, or duration I can expect for resolution. I have called numerous times to find out the status only to be told someone will call me back (which never happens). Everytime I call, I am told told "a couple more days" and then never hear anything. I still have no idea what is wrong with the appliance, if it is being repaired, or what the plan is. This company has horrible customer service and are very unprofessional. I would not use them again and would tell others to avoid them.
Description of Work: Wine refridgerator repair was performed due to a leak in the cooling section of the appliance.

Initial visit cost $80 to assess the problem. Problems were identified and parts ordered for repair. It took about 2 weeks before they were able to come back to make the repairs and were about an hour late in arriving. After an hour or so it was determined that the microwave was still not working, necessitating that it be taken back to the shop for further testing. They found that one of the new parts was defective. They returned within a few days and installed successfully. Overall, the repair approach saved several hundred dollars over replacement cost of a new microwave, so while it took longer, the end result was good. The company would have scored excellent grades had they been a more customer focused at the main office and in timeliness of arrival.
Description of Work: A-Z Appliance was contacted to inspect and then repair an over the range microwave oven.

Terrible. The serviceman was rude and even threatening. I was overcharged and when I attempted to deal with the problem with the company they refused to deal with me. They never called when the parts came in (until I called them).

IF YOU BUY A WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCE THAT DEVELOPS A PROBLEM, WATCH OUT FOR THIS SURLY GANG. I CALLED THEM, AS THEY WERE GIVEN BY WHIRLPOOL AS A COMPANY THAT SERVICES APPLIANCES UNDER WARRANTY. A TO Z NASTILY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD INSPECT THE DEVICE ONLY IF I BROUGHT IT IN. MY EXPLANATION THAT (1) IT WAS TOO HEAVY FOR ME TO LIFT AND (2) IT WAS ALREADY HOOKED UP TO A DRAINPIPE SO I'D END UP HAVING TO PAY MY HANDYMAN TO FIRST DE-INSTALL AND THEN RE-INSTALL. IT MATTERED NOTHING TO THEM; THEY QUOTED A PRICE OF $60 TO COME TO THE HOUSE AND BRING IT TO THEIR SHOP AND ANOTHER $60 TO RETURN IT.IF THEY'D BEEN IN THE LEAST CORDIAL I MIGHT HAVE ACCEPTED THEIR POLICY AND CHOSEN TO FOLLOW IT OR NOT. THE MOST UNPLEASANT REPAIR COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH (WHICH IS SAYING A LOT).THERE ARE VERY FEW AUTHORIZED WHIRLPOOL REPAIR COMPANIES CONVENIENT TO METRO BOSTON. WHIRLPOOL HAS PEOPLE WHO CAN DO IN-HOUSE SERVICE IF YOU INSIST.
Description of Work: MY 65-PT-CAPACITY DEHUMIDIFIER, AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS OF USE, STARTED MAKING A HIGH-PITCHED SQUEAKING SOUND WITH EACH TURN OF THE MOTOR (I.E., HUNDREDS OF TIMES PER MINUTE).

Response from A-Z APPLIANCE CO INC
Whirlpool Does not pay service companies to go out to customers houses for dehumidifiers. In the owners manual it states CARRY-IN Service. This is Whirlpool's policy not ours.

Description of Work: THE REPAIRMAN GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $307.00 TO REPAIR SPIN DRIVE ON A WASHER THAT WAS LESS THAN 3 YRS. OLD. WHIRLPOOL AGREED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS BUT A-Z WOULDN''T ACCEPT THE PARTS. I PAID THE SERVICE CALL FEE AND WHIRLPOOL FOUND A DIFFERENT COMPANY TO INSTALL NEW PARTS.
