I hired Mr. Heat to install a new furnace and oil tank. It cost me close to 10K for both. I ended up having to pay another guy $700 to fix Mr. Heats horrible work so that my heat would work. I did not trust Mr. Heat to fix it himself since he proved that the work was way above his skill level. The guage on my oil tank never worked correctly because he bent the inside arm while installing it. (Plumbing 101) The kicker though was the door on the front of the furnace. It can't be opened because a pipe is in the way. (See pic). He can clean a furnace with the best of them but if you need anything more than that you should call someone else.

He determined that the issue with my furnace was due to a defective thermostat upstairs. He replaced the thermostat, and turned the furnace back on. This costed $210.00. The issue was not resolved, so he returned a couple of days later to troubleshoot the issue further. He decided this time that the issue may be caused by a secondary battery or primary battery. He was unsure which battery was causing the issue, so he wanted to troubleshoot both of them. He purchased a new battery, but did not install it as I asked him if he was completely sure that that was the issue. After some time looking at the furnace, he then decided that I need to have my whole furnace re-wired and that would resolved the issue. Never have I had any service technicians claim that a secondary batter or wiring in my furnace were having issues. I was charged an additional $75 for his follow up visit. I have no issue paying for someone to repair my furnace, but it's very upsetting that I have now paid a total of $285.00 and the problem still is not resolved. I feel that he kept guessing what the problem could be instead of making a proper diagnosis to make the necessary repairs.

"we were called to [member name removed]'s house where she was having trouble with her tenants. when we arrived we were told by the tenant and [member name removed] that the thermostat had to be replaced. upon looking at it we found it to be of the old type with mercury in it, that was one of the reasons it was replaced. we returned to the house after the tenants moved out, and found that the problem with the second floor getting so much heat is that it was wired as the primary where the boiler calls for hot water. we informed [member name removed] that the primary should be on the first floor. we did not say the whole boiler had to be rewired."
