With a fast, friendly, professional service Lewis drywall & plaster is the homeowners choice. We carry all we need for a small job so that most patches or repairs can be done on the spot if desired. With pride and care we make sure things are done correctly the first time. Jake Lewis will see every project through from start to finish, making sure all his costumers are completly satisfied with a plastered finish that will last a lifetime.
From the beginning, Jake answered my call promptly and was able to come and give an estimate within days of my inquiry. I never felt that he was too busy or annoyed with my questions about the process and job details. Jake worked with me to fit my job into his busy schedule. Upon removing the existing drywall he uncovered mold damage. Jake stopped the project until I saw this damage and even took pictures of the damage for my use with the insurance company. After the stopped project and the job literally half done at my request, I could had been left in the dust but Jake returned within days of me asking for him to resume the job. I can tell that Jake takes pride in a job well done and it is important for him to leave with a happy customer in his wake. It is rare to have a skilled tradesman who has such customer service. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.

Jake and his crew are very impressive. Jake himself is responsive and responsible. He showed up when he said he would, and did the work in the agreed upon timeframe and at the agreed upon price. He and his crew obviously take pride in their work, and it shows. They are polite, personable and professional. I also had an opportunity to observe his honesty. He came back to me after a particular wall was already done and told me he realized it had been done incorrectly. He could have rightly assumed I would have never been the wiser and left it that way but instead he tore it down and redid it correctly. When I thanked him for his honesty he said, "I try to treat every house like it's my own." And on the basis of my experience, I have to say I believe that.

The experience was just horrid. I was so upset. The two patch jobs he did were just awful. He put too much plaster on them and they were not sanded down. This job should have taken 2 days; he was only here for 6 hours. The mess they left was horrendous. They got out of there so quickly that they left their drop cloths, they got plaster all over my furniture, big pieces of plaster all over my oriental carpets. I told him to come back and he did come back. I confronted him and said, "Is this how you leave a customer's house?" I had to leave early that day and I think as soon as I left, they left. The mess was incredible. Plaster all over, dripping down the walls, they just left it. And he did nothing. He said he was sorry, that he was busy loading the truck and his partner was in the house. I said, "Well, if you're hiring them, you should have been in the house checking on them, making sure they cleaned up." I left everything for him to see. He made no offer to refund money or anything. And I told him, "I will never use you again, nor will I recommend you."

I was clear about what she should expect with the 2 small patches that she would need to sand them after we finished. As far as the mess... we did clean up,but we missed a spot. It could have been cleaned more. I attempted to do so but she said she would take care of it. I think she didn't like the price since she felt like informing me her husband was a doctor and didn't make as much. I asked her what it would take to make her happy, but she just wanted me to leave. I don't think there was any pleasing her. I should have gave the job a final look and I will use this as a lesson.

He seems like a nice guy, but he never got back to us with a quote. When we contacted him, he told us we should find someone with more experience in "popcorn" ceilings. That was a small part of the job. If someone is busy, or the job is too small then just tell us. We expect more from people on Angie's List.

The guy’s name is Jake Lewis and I did find him on Angie’s List. I thought the price was excellent. I had him come out for the quote and that that was a great price. He did a great job on the 12 by 12 dining room and the ceiling. I want to have my living room done and I am going to use them again.

We were very impressed with Jake more than likely we would have hired him. He spent a long time reviewing the work that needed to be done as well as the insurance papers. Jake had said that more than likely he would email us the estimate for the work , that night.. Over the weekend I called Jake to remind him that I had not received his estimate. I also called three more times today and never a call back. I just do not understand why Jake would spend so much time looking over a job and never continue the process. We are very disappointed.

Jake was here when he said he would and worked into the evening until the job was completed. Our daughter has a medical condition where breathing in any plaster dust can make her sick. Jake was understanding of this and took appropriate measures to help keep the dust from entering the rest of the house. Jake did a wonderful job was such a transformation! We would definitely have him help us again.

I contacted Jake through Angie's List shortly before Christmas and he responded immediately to my message asking if he could repair the hole in our ceiling. He said he would be available after the holidays, and I expected I would have to send him another message to see if he was still interested. Instead, he contacted me right after New Year's and offered to come over the next day to give us an estimate, which he did. The work was performed the following week. Jake and his helper were extremely professional and worked quickly and efficiently to repair the hole. Although the area needs to be repainted along with the rest of our kitchen, when that is done it won't be possible to tell that it was repaired. They were very careful to cover every area in our kitchen which could have come into contact with the materials they used, and spent additional time cleaning up and sweeping the floor when they were done. In addition, they were very friendly and nice to have around. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and highly recommend this company.

Jake couldn't have been better. He returned our call promptly and came yesterday on time. He did a great job of fixing a hole in our kitchen ceiling that occurred as a result of a leaking tub in the upstairs bathroom. When he went to fix a crack in the drywall in our living room near our fireplace, he found that there was a construction problem in that there was a stud missing. The builders had cut a corner and not had a required stud. Jake drove to Home Depot, picked up a 2x4 and installed the stud before replacing the drywall and skim coating over. Had he just coated over the crack, it would have just requird another fix in a few years. Througout all, he was pleasant and courteous, and he cleaned up well before departing. My wife and I were very pleased with his responsiveness and professional demeanor. We would recommend him without reservation.

We agreed back in August 2013 with Mr. Lewis to have our whole new house plastered in a smooth finished. In November Mr. Lewis ordered the necessary materials to do the job. On November 14 Dartmouth Building Supply delivered the materials and Mr. Lewis asked us to pay for them as a down payment as agreed. We did so the amount of 6,075.00 The week before Christmas Mr. Lewis started the job by screwing the sheet rock board on the walls. On and off Mr. Lewis continued the job as planned till the day till he started plastering, at the end of the first day I went and checked how it was coming along; to my surprise when I checked the two rooms that were plastered that day; the walls were waved and bumpy. Next day I went and spoke with Mr. Lewis and made him aware of my dissatisfaction. He said that some waves were due to a bad framing job, but he would take care of it and correct it. Next day I went and gave him a check to finish pay the 2nd payment as agreed. We spoke about the problem a little more and I told him that the vertical waves may have had something to do with a few bad studs but the horizontal low spots were lack of material that needed to be filled. He said that he would fix it. Well I tough that he would do so, and I didn?t go back till next day. I went next day and no one was at work. I called him without an answer, and so I did for the next week or so several times a day with out an answer. Till one day he did pick up and said that he was working on another job that would take him about two weeks. I didn?t like it, but accepted! Two weeks went by and still no one showed up. I called multiple times again with out an answer also sent emails and no reply. Finally I contacted Angie?s List to help me contacting Mr. Lewis. That day I did get an email stating that he was no longer interested in finishing the job for me to find another contractor. I was upset but accepted, till I got a couple other contractors to come and look at the job. To my surprise or (maybe not), I was told that the previous plasterer did a terrible job on the screwing of the board and all the joints and the screws needed to be covered with a base coat other wise I would have cracks allover the place. Witch is true because the couple rooms that Mr. Lewis did already have cracks on them. Also the corner beads that were stapled were bent and not leveled properly. Also the Diamond plaster that Mr. Lewis had ordered was expired and no longer usable. One other thing 5 rolls of floor protector tape were delivered and only used 1 and the other 4 are missing. I?m assuming that Mr. Lewis toke the other 4 and had no intention of coming back since the last day he worked at the house. At the end I also found out that this company isn't licensed to do work in RI.
Description of Work: We agreed with Mr. Lewis to do a complete sheet rock and plastering job at our new house. Everything went nice and smooth till the plastering begun. At the end of the day I went and check it, for my surprise I see a bigmess with high spots at the vertical and low spots at the horizontal joints, he saidhe was going to fix it, but never showed up to work again. I called him thefollowing week and he said that he had another job to finish and he would comeback in a couple weeks, but he never did.

Response from Lewis Drywall & Plaster
I have always conducted business in an honest up front manner. I work hard to feed my family that looks to me as the sole provider. There have been a few times when a customer has taken advantage of me. I have worked for days with no pay. It's not a pleasant experience, but it is a lesson I have learned. I feel I have become a good judge of character because of this. On the day John confronted me about the waviness of the walls he left me with the impression that I would not get paid for the work I was doing. I do not work for free. Sadly that is what happened. I worked for four days that I will never be paid for. So be it. I did hang blue board throughout the house and was paid $7,500 for it. There was nothing wrong with the board installation. As I mentioned before it was due to poor framing as well as having the house sit for two years before boarding it. The fact that this customer wants to be paid $3,899.80 more than I received for the work I did only underscores the kind of person I was dealing with! So that means I work for 15 days for free and still owe him almost $4,000! Does that sound fair? As far as the corner bead I was never paid to put it up. The material?...If the material is expired it is because I was told to deliver the material and it has been sitting there for 5 months, however, I am willing to remove the bags of plaster once I have been compensated $762.60 (4 days work $2,000 minus $1,164.60 cost of plaster bags and $72.80 cost of floor protector.)

I've contacted Jake about putting up drywall on the second floor in my home. The attic was previously unfinished and at 500 sq feet this was a project too large for my husband and I to complete ourselves. Jake came by the very same day I called and gave us an estimate for services and materials. We scheduled for the job to start two days later, however, a snowstorm forced the delivery of materials?to be delayed by a few days. Jake and his son worked late into a Friday evening to make up for time lost, and they were back early on Saturday, working straight for 12 hours. The work was done well and he even cleaned up the floors as plaster dust had been trekked through the house (which?was unavoidable). Jake and his son are dependable, punctual, considerate and friendly. I would recommend their services to anyone in need of drywall and plaster jobs. Sandra Moesing

While price was a little high, it was a very small job and a fair distance from his home location. The quality of the finished work was well worth it.
Description of Work: After struggling to find a drywall installer who would return calls and keep appointments, I turned to Angie's list. Being the highest rated in my area, I gave Jake a call. I was quite satisfied with his responsiveness and the completion of the project; a single ceiling to be covered up. He even went to far as to cover the floors in the path in and out of the house to save on clean up. I will definitely be utilizing his services in the future.

Lewis Drywall & Plaster was a great company to work with! Jake came out to provide an estimate within 24 hours of calling him, and the work was completed within 48 hours. When my husband and I first found out that we needed to fix the pipe due to a leak, we were concerned about the damage opening up the ceiling would do and the hassle it would be. However, Lewis Drywall & Plaster did such a great job that we won't be able to see where the ceiling was cut open. Jake ensured that our floors were protected and that everything was covered during the process. I was very impressed with the cleanup that they did as well, it was like they were never there. I was very happy to have the work completed, and am sleeping better at night knowing that moisture is no longer leaking from the dryer into the walls.

From start to finish Lewis Drywall and Plastering was perfect. I emailed Jake and he promptly responded with a few days to choose from when he could come out and give us an estimate. He kept in constant contact as we settled on a date. He was right on time for the estimate, and we agreed to have them complete the job. He told us it would be about three weeks until they could get to the job, and we were not in a hurry. He mentioned, however, that because it would be a quick job they may be able to fit us in sooner if a few hours opened up. Six days later I got an email and a phone call asking if the job could be done the next day. They were punctual in the mroning and professional. The job was complete and looks great, and the house was left spotless.

I called Jake after seeing other positive reviews on AL. My wife and I had bought a new house and needed to add a closet. The framing we handled, but when I saw the result of my first attempt at dry-walling, I realized that I am NOT qualified. Luckily, I called Jake and he came over later that afternoon, quoted me a fair price, and had all the work done perfectly the following day. No complaints here! I'll be calling him for future drywall and plaster projects, that's for sure!
