It went very well. They showed up on time and were very professional. They cleaned up very well. No stray nails or trash left behind. Job was finished on time even after finding the little problems that they didn't know about in advance ( rotted board and the chimney). I would recommend them and would definitely use them again .
Description of Work: They stripped and replaced my roof. Replaced my attic fan and repaired the flashing on the chimney. They also found a rotted board that they replaced.

The roof was completed the same day as it was started. The house is a cottage so it isn't too large to be fair. But the owner was on-site for the complete job. The quote wasn't exactly the same as the price paid but I knew going in that there was going to be other issues that needed to be taken care of. The previous people that put on the roof did a horrible job but I didn't own the house at the time. They used quality materials for everything. Everything was looked at and discussed with me prior to the work being done. All of the premises were picked up and magnetically raked so that there wasn't any mess when they left. The workers showed up 15 minutes early and were very professional. They also were courteous and were hard workers. The roof is a work of art. I am extremely happy with the job and now I won't have to worry about it for many years. It was a great investment.
Description of Work: Complete replace and re-shingle of roof.

In a recent torrential rain storm a leak was exposed, and thus began the process of getting estimates on repairing and/or replacing the roof. I first had a contractor friend come over and take a look. He couldn't do the whole house but he gave me his opinion and an approximate price range I should expect. I began my roofer search by doing a Google search and by asking business associates and friends for any names of roofers they had experience with. Ultimately I chose a roofer from a Google search and one from a business associates recommendation. Both were professional in their estimate approach. When it came down to the final decision, price had almost everything to do with my choice. Both roofers quoted using quality materials (not from the suppliers the general homeowner goes to - I won't mention any names) from professional contractor suppliers. Both quotes pretty much laid out the identical work to be done. But the high estimate was more than 30% higher than the roofer I chose, and the one I chose came from a recommendation from a client of mine. Billy Weaver, the owner of Aand R Roofing, was great to talk to when getting my estimate. He made me feel comfortable with my decision to choose Aand R Roofing. As a consumer who was about to spend a lot of money on a major repair, blind faith plays into the decision. Ultimately I have no idea what quality work will be done until the job is finished, regardless of any recommendations from others, because it only matters how my house gets done. And honestly, when choosing a price much lower than another estimate, the and quot;you get what you pay forand quot; saying creeps in and you worry. But I still went with my decision. Mr. Weaver was very upfront with the scheduling. He knew I had a leak, but I knew I wasn't the only customer on his plate (I'm a CPA and understand what it takes to run a business and schedule jobs). He came up with a potentail date, but with any risk of rain, any schedule can be affected when it comes to roofing. But he ended up doing the work on the day be promised - Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend. I have a fairly large roof area, so I was expecting a Day+ to have the job completed, and Mr. Weaver said the same thing - wasn't sure if he could complete the job in a day. Well, Saturday morning shows up, and right after 7:00AM (the time I was told workers would show up), there was a crew of men on my roof to begin the stripping of the old roof. I saw the house tarped up to protect plants and the house itself, and as shingles began to fall I felt fairly comfortable no damage would be done. I was helping my son move that day, so just as I was about to leave (around 8:30ish) Mr. Weaver shows up to be on the job. One thing I had requested in the estimate process was for the owner to be on site for the job, and he was. I left while they were stripping the roof. I was called during the day about one extra - releading the chimney. In the contractor world, one negative you always hear is you get a price, but then extras fly at you. My brother-in-law who is a mason was there when I received the call, and he immediately knew what Mr. Weaver was talking about and told me it was a necessity. So I was given the additional price for that work over the phone and gave the OK to continue. I got home around 7:00PM. I had no idea what shape the house would be in. We pulled up in the driveway, and other than the roll-off dumpster being in the driveway, the yard looked clean. I did a walkaround, and to my surprise the job was 100% complete. It looked totally professionally done, and the clean up was also done well. With all of the nails and pieces of old shingles flying off the roof in the morning, I only found a few nails and pieces not picked up - I mean really minor. Mr. Weaver came over today for final payment. There were no surprise. No extras, no bombshells - just the pirce I was quoted plus the extra I OK'd. I find that actually pretty amazing in the contractor world as I was expecting an and quot;I found thisand quot; or We did thatand quot; speech - but I got none. Not that I expected Mr. Weaver to say those things as he never struck me as that type of person, but I meant I expected it in general. BOTTOM LINE: Great price, great owner, great work. All professionally done with high quality materials. I highly recommend Aand R Roofing and Siding. I personally liked Mr. Weaver. We chatted quite a bit before and after the job, and he strikes me as an honest businessman trying to grow a business the right way - by performing quality work at a reasonable price. For that he get an A+ from me.
Description of Work: I had my complete roof redone. This included the following: strip existing shingles down to underlayment, renail loose boards and replace two rotted boards, install ice & water shield, felt paper, GAF architectural shingles (charcoal) laid down, galvanized nails, drip edge, boot flanges. I also had ridge vents put on the three sections of my house. My chimney was also releaded. Town permits were taken care of, and a dumpster was dropped off to load the debris. The house was tarped and protected.
