The masonry men

Project started on time. Showed up on time. Did paver patio which had to be redone because grade was poor. Built small retaining wall and small planting bed which also had to redone as he changed materials to cheap landscape ties instead of 6x6 we discussed. Paved garage, installed heating system. Insisted on getting more money each Friday because he short to pay his guys. Finished late one night it was dark and I was unable to really see if all was done. Insisted on being paid. Backfilling in many areas was not done at all around garage sidewalk. Some area where he backfilled he used sand that is now like quicksand when it rains because he ran out of material and didn?t want to order more. In other areas used gravel where no grass will now grow for same reason. Didn?t fill under stairs instead garage as promised. Removed doors and never replaced them and when I went to replace them, I found out why - the floor was laid too high to close the doors. Removed garage stairs and said he would recut and reinstall them, instead left them on garbage heap behind garage. The paving at garage doors is not level so doors do not sit flush. Left tones of debris everywhere including a mountain of broken and cut pavers which he said he would bury and put soil over. Now it?s just a few tons of broken pavers. Framing from forms never removed in fact left forms with scrap blocks on them to hold them down. Put in a drainage pipe in front of garage and didn?t bury it properly so rain eroded and exposed it the first time it rained. Don?t know where he ran the pipe at the end ? certainly not to daylight as is the norm. Possible ended it under the sidewalk pavers which will undermine the sidewalk. At the start of job, they broke a landscape light and a 4 way garden spigot which he promised to replace. Overall, they were sloppy and dirty, leaving garbage and cigarette butts everywhere. Used my equipment and supplies (backhoe, ATV, fuel etc) which no doubt saved them money and I had to ask repeatedly that they refill equipment and gas tanks. The heating system was left unfinished and not filled with antifreeze as it was supposed to. Emails, texts and calls go unanswered. He promised to return during following week to finish punch list.
