Massachusetts Home Inspections

This is our first experience with a home inspection and Dave helped make it as smooth as could be. He actually arrived early and performed almost all of the external inspection before we even got there. He did a great job of pointing out all the little things we wouldn't have known to look for ourselves, and provided plenty of detailed notes to review later. Dave was also responsive and professional throughout. From our initial contact, through answering any post-inspection questions. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a home inspector.

We hired Dave Valley to do a 2nd inspection of our house (after we bought it) because the pre-purchase inspection (done by someone else at a different company) had missed some things (including some things that should have been obvious, like 2/3 of the house was missing gutters and downspouts!). Dave showed up early. He was extremely professional and thorough. He spent over 3 hours examining the house, explaining problems he found, and suggesting possible ways to fix them. His inspection includes giving a home maintenance manual, and his web site is full of useful information also. I would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him without qualification. I was slightly disappointed that his report did not include photos, but since I shadowed him during the inspection I saw everything of note.

I am a new home owner and David valley, I was really impressed by his thoroughness, he literally looked at every corner and took his time in answering all my questions. His experience and knowledge about where to look for and what issues is just outstanding. He would explain to you what he's looking for in attic, basement yard, you name it. I have had him inspect all the potential homes that we looked at and his consistent and detail oriented approach is just amazing. I would highly recommend him. He's technically savvy which is convenient and has good sense of humor.

This was my second time using this business. David is very thorough, punctual, professional, and explains everything in detail. In both cases, I felt confident that I fully understood all of the repairs that would be required before moving forward with the home purchase. I?d like to start by saying this is the second time I?ve used Massachusetts Home Inspections service. 7 years ago I purchased my first condo and Dave was my inspector. I was so impressed with him that I called him a few months ago to inspect my new townhouse. Thankfully he was able to squeeze my ?rush? appointment in his schedule. Dave was very detailed and thorough in his inspection. He was extremely helpful to me by explaining the utility room to me (as I didn?t have to deal with that in the condo). Very well. He even offered to take off his shoes to keep the house clean. We had ice dams this winter, and with the images and report from David, I now feel very confident in pursuing the right solution. His report came the next day as promised. We also found out most of the house is really pretty good, which is a relief!

It went great. Dave is thorough, he found a lot of issues large and small. He's good at explaining the magnitude of each issue and at identifying issues that can be turned into negotiating points. He's also good at explaining the limits of what can be known (eg does termite damage exist behind a finished wall, will a crack in the foundation continue to grow, etc.)

It went very well. First of all, Dave was very polite and had a great attitude. He actually called me right back and worked around my schedule to get an inspection complete. He is very honest, he quoted me one price over the phone based on my explanation of the property and then gave me a lesser price post inspection because it was a smaller unit. Dave was early an performed some exterior inspections in advance and then proceeded to help me understand everything. He was extremely thorough and overly helpful when I wasn't sure about something. He goes through everything with the finest tooth comb. It was truely amazing to see some of the things he found. He takes his time going through the property which I liked. When I would think out loud, he would recommend some useful information. All in all, I would use and recommend Massachusetts Home Inspections to anyone looking for an inspector. David was recommended to us by our agent. He was readily available to schedule an appointment with short notice and arrived on time. This was our first purchase so he was very helpful to answer all of our questions and help walk us through the inspection. We purchased a 1200 square foot condo but he was really thorough in checking out and explaining everything - including spotting any loose electrical outlet connections and explaining the best practices for insulating our central air fan unit lines on the roof of the building. Altogether, it was a good experience for us - especially as it was our first purchase. David was very helpful.

Dave of Massachusetts Home Inspections was recommended to us by our buyer's agent after our offer to purchase a condo (3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, approx. 2000 sq.ft.) was accepted. Dave quickly returned my phone call, and scheduled the inspection within a few days. Dave arrived on time and went about the inspection thoroughly and professionally. We followed him around and he pointed out things that needed fixing; he also documented everything, including taking pictures. He had a laptop and was able to scan his checklist into it, so we left with a copy of the inspection. I am pretty confident he caught everything. Most critically, he removed insulation in the attic area, which I suspect other inspectors might not have done, and discovered mold. We made the remediation of this mold before closing a condition of signing of the P&S. The sellers agreed and did remediate the mold. Dave's thoroughness saved us thousands of dollars and potential health problems. Dave pointed out a number of smaller problems. Although we did not require the sellers to fix these, his inspection report made it easy for us to have a "to do" list for a handyman, electrician, etc. Dave was personable and professional; he answered all of our questions and offered suggestions for how we could fix some things ourselves without calling in a repair person. He also conducted a pest inspection; fortunately, there were no problems in that area. I highly recommend Massachusetts Home Inspections.

Dave came early and started an exterior home inspection prior to our arrival. Once we arrived we walked with Dave and he showed us what he had found prior to us arriving. Dave discovered non-optimal flushing on the roof, separation between the chimney and the rest of the house a slight gas odor coming from the meter (turned out to be a major issue), non-optimal bracing on the deck and pool fencing. Dave was very personable but also incredibly professional. He pointed out issues and suggested fixes that we could do ourselves if we were up to the task. He checked crawl spaces, and attic spaces. He did an amazing job and never tried to intimidate us with too much information. In the end I feel like he had our best interest at heart and that is an important feeling to have during a home inspection.

Dave at Massachusetts Home Inspections is A+ all the way. We needed to get a home inspection booked over Memorial Day weekend and Dave was willing to come out on a Sunday to get the inspection performed. Talk about customer service! Dave is professional, punctual and knowledgeable. He walked us around and through the property explaining things, taking pictures, making suggestions and letting us know the order of priority for getting things repaired. I'll echo what other reviewers have said in that he is not an alarmist about every little thing (especially helpful in an older home), but he gave us a full and complete inspection and we had his report before he left the property. I'd definitely hire him again.

My wife and I have purchased a number of homes over the past 30 years, but since this was our first purchase in 15 years we needed a new home inspector. While our Realtor couldn?t recommend anyone, he was able to give us a list of inspectors his clients had liked in the past. And we looked at Angie's List. Dave Valley at MA Home Inspections was on both lists, so we gave him a call. We fond Dave to be flexible in scheduling to fit our time needs. He showed up a few minutes early. He was polite, professional, courthouse, and most of all he was detailed in his inspection. He left us with an immediate and easy to read report. He was able to point out a few (thankfully minor!) defects. And he spent some very beneficial time making maintenance suggestions and tips throughout his time with us. I have already personally recommend David to a co-workers who is about to buy a house. He does great work.

David inspected the home we are buying and did an excellent job. He was referred to us by our buyer's agent, who along with my brother, were present for the home inspection. By all accounts, he was on time and very thorough. He provided us with information regarding minor fixes the house needed, as well as possible improvements we could do easily to increase the efficiency of the house. It was a wintry day, but he also even inspected the landscaping outside and noticed a retaining wall had some loose stones, that needed to be mortared in place by a professional and also some possible areas of mild rot in the siding that needed to be evaluated. Again, he was quite thorough. He emailed us with a very thorough and detailed report within half an hour of completing the 3 hour inspection. Overall, very pleased with his work. Would definitely not hesitate to recommend him or use his services again.

David is detailed, take time to go over things with me. He is on time and does quality work. Several of my friends also use David's service. Boot in advance. I tried to book an appointment last week and his schedule was all filled up.

Dave was excellant. He was easy to contact. He showed up on time. The inspection went very well. A couple of minor concerns were brought to my attention. A report was produced on the spot. I would reccomend Dave and this company to friends and relatives. If I ever need a home inspected I will call this company.

Dave was very thorough and knowledgeable. He made an extra effort to understand a concern he was noting in the condo and explained things along the way. He was responsive to questions and I would recommend him for an inspection. ALSO...he was the most reasonable in price.

Dave Valley inspected a home we planned on buying. He was professional, punctual, and thorough. The inspection was about two hours as he walked through every last detail of the home. He noted small things throughout the house that needed fixing and made suggestions on how we could take care of some items ourselves. He also noticed a lot of settling in the home and did a great job inspecting the basement to see exactly what was going on. Although the basement walls were finished, he managed to get a look at the sill plate and noticed it had started rotting. On further investigation he noticed bowing in the basement walls, more rotting in the sill plate, and that the foundation was not above grade. After the inspection we had a structural engineer come out to further investigate, and it turned out that entire side of the house needed a new sill plate and to be brought above grade, all of which would have cost almost $20k to fix. This was something that the seller's own inspector had missed several years ago. We decided not to buy this home, and are very very thankful that Dave was able to catch this major issue. I will definitely use Dave again for the next house. We also appreciated that Dave answered our questions regarding the settling and sill plate after the inspection, and was very responsive via phone and email.

It went great. We learned a lot about the home we will be purchasing. He was extremely thorough. He gave us a list of things that would have to be repaired eventually, and things that should be fixed immediately. We highly recommend Dave to anyone. Worth every penny.

Dave was very good. He was on time, very friendly, gave a complete packet of what he did and good beneficial info on how a home inspection works and what info can be gained.

Dave did a excellent, most thorugh job. Found an infestation that the home owner was not aware of and 2 decks that were unsafe, electrical box double and triple tapped. Also found numeous place of rotted trim and many other potential problems. Dave could not inspect the inside of the Chimney because he found it dirty, so we were able to the owners we would be back for a level 2 inspection after a sweep for a inspection. Overall, Dave safed us $1000's in potential repairs and clean up. Dave is a true professional and knows his business.

David arrived early and started inspecting the grounds until we arrived. He was informative, personable, and very helpful in explaining, not only the findings he made, but also how various components of the home like the heating and air handling worked. He gave helpful tips throughout the inspection about how to maintain the home, and also pointed out aspects that were unexpectedly superior. he encouraged questions and welcomed our videotaping of the process. He was extremely thorough and provided detailed information about the inspection reports and how to interpret them. I not only felt that we got our money's worth, but he made a process I thought would be long and arduous into an enjoyable learning experience!

This is the second time we used this company. David Valley does a great job informing you as the inspection goes along and he doesn't rush the process. Both our home inspections lasted about 2 1/2 hours and it's amazing the depth of his knowledge. David is very reliable and I would use him again. David was very professial and informative. He has a vast amount of knowledge and he explained everything to us as the inspection went along.
