I had a Chimney company quote me 10,000k to fix cracks in my chimney liner. Based on research that seemed exorbitant. I contacted Jim and he took a second look and assured me that I was being had, and that my chimney was fine. He noted a very fine crack and a light creasote build up but nothing that needed 10,000 worth of work. I found the team to be honest and have integrity. Am switching to this crew from now on.

This man is an expert to what he does. After receiving several estimates from dishonest people, Jim gave e an estimate with a proper repair procedure and it went beyond the price was far less. He came as promised and did the work within the time frame as promise. No surprises and no extra charges, Everything was done as originally agreed to and the work site was cleaner that it was found.I would highly recommend Jim Sullivan Masonry.

The job was completed efficiently. A few hours on day 1 for demolition and a few hours on day 2 for rebuilding my chimney from the roofline up. Everything looks great and the clean up was well done.

He was not able to fix the issue on my chimney. The chimney is still leaking from the previous work he did, and I have consulted with some masons in my area and they said that he did a very sloppy job and a lousy work.

you did not opt for the complete waterproofing project which would have solved the problem. you chose to cheap out vs the guaranteed wayerproofing. as for the comments from the local chimney master, i think it would be fair if i was introduced to some of his handiwork and evaluate it. thanks for the failing grade teach.!!!

Jim is a pro. He gets the job done. I mainly use him for items tied to servicing my chimney. Last year he cleaned my brick stairs and replaced my front walkway (from asphalt to brick) and it was BEAUTIFUL!

Jim responded quickly to my request for quote. He stopped by to check out the job and responded the same day with a quote. The quote included all the necessary info and an optional stainless steel chimney cap which I purchased. Once the job started he kept me informed daily of his progress and plans for next day. Showed up when he said he would. Communication was excellent (phone and text) and the work done was quality workmanship. Performed cleanup when job was complete. Would definitely hire again.

Excellent work -- it was a lot more complicated and involved than I had imagined. The new planter is much sturdier than the one which was coming apart (after 20+ years). Jim is very responsive to questions over email and got back to me very quickly when I contacted him. We are very happy with the result

I would never hire this company. They are doing work at my neighbors house and with the windows closed and air conditioning running all I can hear is the foul mouth screaming of an older gentlemen to the workers. The language out of his mouth and the screaming at his workers is totally unnecessary, unprofessional and not fair to the residents of the neighborhood. I would never hire this foul mouthed lunatic.

[Member Name Removed], I sincerely apologize for my offensive language, and for have being loud enough to be heard through your closed windows. Thank you for pointing this out. I will try to keep myself in check on future job sites. Much of my work comes from neighbors of those I am working for, and referrals, so it was certainly not my intent to offend you. Jim

I got a refund. They immediately wanted more money. I think that's the way he does it. No matter what the job is, he always asks for more money because he told me you take $150 from that. I did have the job done by a local handy man and it cost $365. He worked for 6 and a half hours at $60 a hour, and he did an excellent job, so Jim Sullivan's was way out of line. I knew it wasn't more than what he was saying. There were two guys and he said "Oh, I can't do that, it's going to cost you more." It was a simple job. He was too expensive. He didn't do any work for me. He just wanted more money than the job was worth, much more. He has to be fair with his price. He immediately wanted more money even before and he made the job seem much more difficult than it was and I told him it easy but that's how he gets more. He was very nice but he just wanted more money. I think as soon as he gets off the truck, he wants more money. I get the impression that he never does it for that price.

I am sorry [Member Name Removed], but my company has never provided services to you. What did happen was you purchased an Angie's List Coupon. Your project exceeded your coupon purchase by 2.5 hours, which is equal to $250.00 additional cost. You chose to not have the work done and received a refund for your Angie's List Purchase. Angie's List needs to put a checks and balances process in place that does not allow someone that was never a customer, to post derogatory reviews. Currently AL is allowing someone that has never had work performed rate my services. I am sure you agree that is not a legitimate review, nor is it fair to businesses such as mine, that utilize your services. I am thankful for my actual customer's reviews, which as can be seen, are very positive. I request that AL remove this review as not valid.

Jim did a great job - very happy with the new firebox, and he was on time, quick and on price. I'd be glad to hire him again. I'm really enjoying being able to use my fireplace now. In addition, Jim came back a few days later, after we'd already paid him, to acid wash the new brick and mortar, since that was a cleanup you couldn't do until the work had dried.

Initial appointment was rescheduled on short notice because business owner was too tired to meet at 1 PM. Next day, he came by to survey the area where the patio was to be installed. Called back the next day, saying he had to survey it again, because he didn't get a good look at the path he would have to take the concrete to the back yard, because it was raining. He came back and scheduled the work for the following week. We negotiated for a slightly larger deck than the 10 x 10 offered in the Angie's List deal. It was decided that a ramp would have to be constructed, beside the existing stairs into the yard. the slope for the ramp was dug out in preparation. I notified them that the land that was dug out was my neighbor's, and they assured me that it would be restored to it's original condition. The existing small wooden deck that was being replaced was demolished. On the first day, the crew worked for less than 3 hours, from 9 AM until almost noon, and the owner said it was too late to start pouring, so he'd finish the next day. Next day, he completed the pour of the initial slab. I was asked if they could incorporate several concrete paving stones, which I put aside for a pathway, to make sure they didn't run out of concrete. There was a good deal of shouting and profanity amongst the crew. We then negotiated adding a necessary additional stair step, which was poured the next day. The crew came back the following day, and removed the wooden forms. The area that was dug for the ramp was not restored. Overall, I am satisfied with the work done, and the owner was willing to accommodate the changes I requested. To get higher marks, Sullivan Masonry will need to step up their professionalism, be mindful of keeping appointments, watch their language and restore any landscaping damage.
Description of Work: Needed a concrete patio poured. Original deal was for a 100 sq. ft. patio. I paid additional money to increase it to 144 sq. ft., plus an additional stair step.

Everything went pretty well, only complaint is that the cleanup left something to be desired, as mortar droppings were left around the house in several spots. Also I had to replace a temperature sensor which was located in the work area probably as a result of the repointing. No big deal, but took me a while to figure out what was wrong.

Here was what was the proposed work to be done on your job. Power washing was just one aspect: 3 year Guarantee Chimney Waterproofing and Restoration 1. Set up of scaffolding 2. Decrease firebox opening 3. Install new flashing between roof and chimney 4. Fill in any cavities between stonework on chimney 5. Pressure Wash 6. Apply Sealer It is upsetting that your review does not state the work actually proposed to be performed. Furthermore, seeing you did not utilize my services, I do not understand why a review is warranted.
