We had a lot of snow in January, and by the end of the month, I couldn?t keep shoveling it. My sister suggested I buy a snow blower, but they were sold out everywhere I looked. After searching the internet, I found a hardware store that still had some. It wasn?t cheap, but I wanted a good one so that it would last me a long time. It didn?t fit in my car, so I told them that I needed to come back to get it. About a week later, I arranged for a ride and brought it to my house. 2 days later we had the big storm. I read the manual very carefully, but was not able to start the machine. I called the store, and they said I had flooded it, and to just wait. I waited overnight, but it still didn?t work. I called them back, and after we talked through the steps and we confirmed that I had done it right, I decided to have my neighbor?s husband try just to make sure I hadn?t done something wrong. I called again, but they just blamed me and said that I was doing something wrong. I asked a second man in my neighborhood to try, and he couldn?t start it either. I kept calling them, and then they told me to take it to a store and get the starter fixed since it was under warranty. I brought it back and told them that I wanted my money back, but they told me that I had already used it, so they wouldn?t take it back. I NEVER used it even once, because it never started! Then they said that I had to talk to the owner, and he was not in today. I said it did not work in my schedule to come back, and I said that I was not taking the machine with me, and that I wanted my credit that day. One employee suggested I put it on Ebay! They were very rude and unhelpful. As of now, I have contacted the Attorney General, and the store said that they will put it back on the shelf and pay me when it gets sold. I don?t want to wait until next fall when people are looking to buy a snow blower! They are obviously not honest if they are willing to put a machine that doesn?t work back on their shelf to sell to someone else!
Description of Work: I purchased a snow blower from them.

Response from WHITTEMORE HARDWARE
I have called the member 4 times to offer her money back less $50.00 to cover my mechanics time to prep the machine (remove gas and oil) the member has put in her machine. She has not had the common courtesy to call back. She still has the oil/gas tank and the manual for the snowblower. I will respond as briefly as possible. Machine was sole at retail price - the member left out that I sold her the machine and on two occasions told her I felt uncomfortable selling her the machine to her because of her basic lack of knowledge did not know the difference between gas and oil), it woudl not fit in her Lexus, but she was adamant to my employee to make it fit. he asked me to try. The member could not fathom why it would not fit (but told me not to scratch her car) I offered to refund her money or she would have to get a bigger car. She left, did not pick-up machine for another two weeks then she had it for two weeks the day of the snow storm is when she decided to start machine. It would not start. We tried to work with her over the phone to no avail. She brought it back a week after that, The manager on duty gave it to the mechanic was started it on one pull. She does not want to take the responsibility that she is incompetent to run power equipment. Toros policy is that if it is defective they will pay to fix it. It was not defective, We have been in business since 1923 and have sold hundreds if not thousands of machines. Steven Trulli, owner.

Contacted Whittemore Remodeling because of previous experience with other projects. Estimates were given on several types of doors and levels of quality and windows. Price was a bit more than 'big box' stores, but knew they would stand behind their work. Door was installed and is attractive and very light and easy to open and close.
Description of Work: Old wooden overhead door of garage needed to be replaced after garage was remodeled.

When I sent my snowblower to them for a tune-up it was just idling a little rough. When it came back to me it would kick-back, and shoot flames out the exhaust when I would turn the choke down. When I first called about it I was told that was ok. The second time I called I demanded they repair it, flames should not be shooting out. After a week I called to see what was happening, and was scolded for expecting it back so soon. I complained to the manager about how I was treated, and that I felt they should repair my machine quickly as it was fine before they tuned it up. The manager told me perhaps it was my fault for leaving gas in it. I explained to him the oil was changed, and it was run dry at the end of the season. That it was fine before the tune up, and they should repair it quickly. It finally got repaired, and I was told the carburetor was gummed up (though no mention of that when they initially returned it), and I would probably have to replace it.
