Description of Work: 2 bathrooms, all season room. Overall went quite well. There was bit delay in start but that was not an issue as I was flexible. Completion delay had some issues but Mike, the project manager was great to work with. Just like with any construction, you have to be involved in if you want the things done your way as remodeling, opening up walls may require adjustment in plans.

Description of Work: Kitchen Remodel | |The Pegasus team was wonderful to work with from start to finish. We gutted the kitchen, knocking down a wall to open the kitchen to the dining room, as well as moving heating and opening a back wall to add French doors to the deck. | |Geoff the owner worked with our budget & the project manager, Mike was amazing & kept everything on track, answered all questions quickly & was always extremely responsive no matter when I called/emailed. I will be asking them back to look at our house for more work. I would highly recommend them.

My sincerest apologies for seeming arrogant. As we discussed I was unable to provide an estimate for a design that was not finalized. As you can imagine it is impossible to provide an accurate estimate without a complete design. I am sorry that I left such a bad impression and hope that your project ran smoothly.

Description of Work: Full kitchen redo. Including removing load bearing wall new windows and door. Redesign of kitchen. Geoff and his team were great to work with and everything was done on time and high quality (no builders grade stuff). You can find cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

Description of Work: We obtained a consult for a kitchen remodel on an Angie's List Big Deal discount offer. The price for the consult and value for service was certainly reasonable. The designer as courteous, prompt, professional. Their design comes in a computer rendering which makes it easy to understand. My reason for a B rating is that we provided drawings of our own and specified certain things that we did NOT want in our kitchen, e.g., a four burner cooktop in an island or to move the refrigerator from its location. We also had a lighting challenge in that recessed was not possible. Their two proposed designs were attractive, but they ignored our requests and didn't have any solutions for the lighting problem.. So we didn't use them. I did the design myself; my husband designed a beautiful solution for the lighting and our long time carpenter and general contractor completed everything. They are clearly qualified and could be right for someone else, but they were not the right company for us.

Response from Pegasus Design-To-Build LLC
Member, my sincerest apologies that you were not fully satisfied with my initial designs. My goal is to provide thought provoking layouts and maximize options for every space. Often, this process takes several reviews in order to reach the best possible outcome. Your Angie’s Coupon included one floor plan, however I provided you with two, including numerous 3-D rendered images, as your existing kitchen was somewhat complex and had potential for many options. Further discussion was required in order to find the best solutions for your appliances, lighting, cabinets and surfaces. In other words, we were just getting started and I was hopeful you would schedule a time to view the plans at my office so I could give you a “virtual tour” of your floor plans and consider evolving options (all included in the coupon). As I said when we met, I thought you had a great space with remarkable potential. I am glad you were able to resolve your lighting dilemma and create a design that worked for you and your husband. It sounds like you will have many years of successful cooking and dining enjoyment in your new kitchen.

AWFUL! We were 1 month from the start of the kitchen when Geoff finally sent a proposal - for $140,000! (not including countertops!). The proposal was not a detailed line-by-line list, and had charges for plumbing in multiple places. When I questioned Geoff on the differences, he said our cabinets were much more than he expected. Denyne's design would have cost $43,000 in custom cabinets. Geoff also said that he marks up the cost of products for kitchens approximately 30% - to cover his overhead and profit - IN ADDITION to the actual labor costs! Geoff was defensive, disagreed that he had discussed a price of $75,000-$100,000, and completely forgot that Denyne said she had learned a new design program on our kitchen! I suppose a cost of $1,500 to learn about the way Geoff works with clients is relatively cheap! Unless you want to open your checkbook 40% above the price he quotes, get everything in writing - and then watch out anyway! Response To Company?s response to this report: The cabinets were outside of what we were discussing, the designer told us she was learning a new design program. In-fact when they made the presentation, they were pretty unclear and she had to constantly start over because the new design program. The fact that he stated he sat with us and the designer was not true at all. We met with him after we sat and spoke with her. She came to give us the presentation and could not get it to work correctly, so we went into the office. After her presentation, we started to take things away. After that is when we spoke with him.
Description of Work: We originally contacted Geoff to discuss a kitchen remodel (including a bathroom move). Geoff came to our house and reviewed our project and said the price would be in the neighborhood of $75,000 - $100,000 (total). He then said the design work would best be done by a kitchen designer he used. We signed a contract for design work not to exceed $1,500. The kitchen designer, Denyne Sanville, was very nice. However, Geoff sent a bill to us for $2,250 for her design! She, supposedly, spent 30 hours designing the kitchen. The design was OK, but much more fancy than the Shaker-style kitchen we described and showed pictures. When we sat with Denyne (with Geoff) and reviewed the design, she said she had just learned a new design program that she used for our design. We didn't expect to pay the price for her to learn the program! I have had to sit with the kitchen cabinet makers and remove all the extra embellishments Denyne added - and got the price of the cabinets down to $33-35,000!

PEGASUS STRIVES TO ESTABLISH A REWARDING RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH OF OUR CLIENTS. I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER THE FOLLOWING CLARIFICATIONS TO THE POST. DESIGN WORK WAS THE ONLY SERVICE PROVIDED. THE FINAL BILL WAS $1500 AS AGREED TO BY THE MEMBER. INITIALLY I INFORMED THE MEMBER THAT HER KITCHEN WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $75-$100K AND THAT A FIRM ESTIMATE COULD BE PROVIDED ONCE SHE DEFINED THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT. SHE CHOSE TO USE OUR DESIGN SERVICES AND TO USE HER OWN CABINET SUPPLIER. SHE INCREASED THE SCOPE OF WORK BY MOVING A BATHROOM, USING HIGH END CABINETRY AND OTHER ENHANCEMENTS OUTSIDE OF OUR ORIGINAL DISCUSSION. THESE CHANGES RESULTED IN A PROJECT PROPOSAL OF $140K. THE MEMBER STATES INACCURATELY THAT OUR DESIGNER WAS “LEARNING ON THE JOB.” OUR DESIGNER HAS BEEN USING THE DESIGN PROGRAM FOR OVER 4 YEARS AND COMPLETED MORE THAN 40 PROJECTS. THE MEMBER STATES THAT THE DESIGN WAS “MUCH MORE FANCY” THAN HER ORIGINAL REQUEST. I SAT WITH THE MEMBER AND OUR DESIGNER FOR MANY HOURS AS SHE ADDED THESE “EMBELLISHMENTS.” ULTIMATELY HER DESIGN CHOICES CAUSED THE INCREASE IN THE PROPOSAL AMOUNT. THE PROPOSAL FOR THE KITCHEN WAS SENT UPON HER RETURN FROM VACATION. PEGASUS PROVIDED A DETAILED 2 PAGE PROPOSAL THAT INCLUDED A SINGLE PRICE FOR PLUMBING. FORTUNATELY, AS OUR REVIEWS SHOW, THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL EXPERIENCE WHEN DEALING WITH OUR COMPANY. I INVITE YOU TO VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT PEGASUS.

I had a 1st floor washing machine fail and cause significant damage to my finished basement. I searched Angie's List for contractors and selected three to solicit estimates. Of the three, Geoff, the owner, responded promptly to my emails, provided timely estimates and was very helpful in helping me to understand the full scope of the work that was required. Geoff, was the highest of the three estimates that I received, but I found him very personable and he stressed 100% customer satisfaction before the final payment is made. Having just gone through a horrible experience building my now three year old house I didn't find contractors very ethical. I paid for the peace of mind and was not disappointed. I was up against a deadline for having my basement restored and Geoff did the work when he said he would and I was able to completely restore the basement by my deadline.
Description of Work: Pegasus installed insulation, a plaster ceiling and painted my basement.

Pegasus was a fabulous partner from start to finish. Helped me to design the room, create a workable budget, and select the right fittings. Because of structural difficulties (chimney in way, we had to make some changes along the way. Geoff Shafer worked closely with me to make sure I ended up with exactly what I wanted while living within my budget.
Description of Work: Remodeled my second floor and installed a new bathroom. Included knock-down and build-up floor to ceiling, brought up plumbing & heating from first floor. Installed over-sized jacuzzi tub, shower unit, sink, toilet, and decorative shelves. A virtual spa. It's gorgeous!

Geoff Shafer is absolutely the best contractor I have ever worked with, by far. And I emphasize "worked with". I've had numerous contractors in my life as I've always lived in "fixer-upper" houses, and never had such a positive experience. Geoff operates as a true partner. Your design is his design, your budget is his budget, and your problems are his problems. At each turn, and there were many, with little and big glitches. Geoff worked with me to figure out the best solutions and get the job done, within my budget. It always felt like we were working as a team. While I appreciated his knowledge, integrity and experience, mostly it was his help and patience throughout each big and little decision that I had to make that I most appreciated. Also, having Pegasus do the design work was fortuitous, since the glitches necessitated redesign along the way, which they did as a matter of course. It would have been costly to have an outside designer come back as often as I needed.
Description of Work: Pegasus helped me design and oversaw the construction of a major renovation of my second floor, which had one reasonably sized bedroom and one tiny bedroom. Both had slant ceilings. The roof, electrical, and heating were bad and needed to be dealt with, and I wanted the overall design to be wider and longer. After a great deal of discussion about desires, budget, and design ideas, we ended up shaving off and rebuilding a larger second floor with a large master bedroom (w/2 huge closets and cathedral ceilings), a glorious spa bathroom, a nice-size office/spare bedroom, and an attic overhead. The end result is spectacular. Went from barely functional to a place I want to spend all my time. I wish I'd done this years ago.

This remodeling project was my first experience of this kind and I feel that it was an extremely successful venture and that my money was well spent. Geoff Shaefer and his Pegasus crew are honest, professional and a pleasure to work with. The subcontractors chosen did an excellent job. Everyone was very accessible and if any issues or concerns arose, they were addressed promptly. Throughout the entire project I was listened to and kept informed. Over the course of several months my house was transformed into a home that my family and I love and one that we are extremely proud of.
Description of Work: The work on my home started out as a kitchen and bathroom (2) remodeling request and the end result turned into a major refurbishing of my 100+ year old Victorian home. The entire project encompassed: Kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling (half-bath off kitchen turned into bath/laundry room, 2nd floor bath and master bath), ceiling and plastering work was done in two bedrooms, installation of hardwood ceiling and floor in family room, floor refurbishing in master bedroom and foyer. Interior painting was done in almost every room. The exterior of the house was painted, decorative woodwork repaired, carriage house door repaired, needed roof and gutter work was taken care of, and all windows throughout my home were replaced with energy efficient replacement windows.

It was a very good experience. Their pricing is competitive, but we got a good value for the money. They were wonderful to have around. I thought the subcontractors were excellent, and when I had a very small problem with one, they were very responsive and validated what I said. It wasn't perfect all the way through, but any problems were dealt with well and promptly. Everybody who worked on the project was excellent.

THESE ARE HONEST AND VERY TALENTED PEOPLE WHO ARE A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. THEY TOOK A VERY COMPLICATED JOB AND DID IT WHILE WE WERE STILL LIVING IN THE HOUSE AND MADE IT ABOUT AS PLEASANT AS THAT SITUATION CAN BE. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE TO OUR QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS.
Description of Work: THIS IS A CONTRACTOR/BUILDER WORKING WITH HIS WIFE WHO IS AN ARCHITECT. SHE DREW UP NUMEROUS PLANS FOR US IN REMODELING A LARGE,OLD, DILAPIDATED HOUSE. THEN GEOFF OVERSAW THE ENTIRE PROJECT FROM DEMO THROUGH THE FINAL DETAILS. HE ALSO DID THE CARPENTRY, ALONG WITH AN EMPLOYEE. HE COORDINATED ALL THE SUBCONTRACTORS, AS WELL AS INTERVIEWING THEM TO DETERMINE THE BEST PEOPLE TO USE.
