The estimate wasn’t what I wanted. They were very professional. Their responsiveness was good. Something had happened; so they couldn’t make it right out. Their professionalism was good. They knew what they were talking about. I would probably not use them again. They recommended an entirely different way to go and I didn’t want to do that. We didn’t see eye to eye on what I considered to be the way to go. That is the only reason why I wouldn’t call them again. If my friends need a landscaping contractor, I would certainly tell them to contact Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design. They came over to my house and we spoke. It wasn’t that the person didn’t do good work and I am sure they did, but what I wanted and their opinion just didn’t match. So, I preferred to continue on finding someone to do the work that I wanted.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design about a couple of months ago for landscaping.

First and foremost, we loved working with Matthew. He is professional, courteous, and just a super cool guy. I think Matthew's talents are elite status. Nonetheless, he took us as clients despite a rather modest budget. I found this to be a rare find, as most of the really creative and talented artists priced out us average folk. We worked with Matthew over the course of probably a year (this was because of our schedule, not his). He took us through many iterations of the potential of our 2 acres. We saw what $100k would buy us and we saw what $35k would buy us. Both plans were amazing and realistic. We bit our knuckles and whimpered about things we knew were luxuries (but very practical, like a stacked fieldstone retaining wall that would "present" our house as you arrive up our 1/8 mile long driveway and a detached deck overlooking our woods) and could not afford without living here for another 10 years. Then Matthew went one step further. We earmarked $11,000 for landscaping in year one of a three year plan. He helped us prioritize which steps we would need to take to get us started. Lastly, we decided to be our own general contractors (ugh!) to save costs. Matthew not only offered guidance through this arduous process but came out to the excavation site to "check on things" once the work was well underway. This was at my request. I panicked and became quite overwhelmed during the excavation and needed him to make sure things were going okay. Oh, did I mention that he traveled 30+ miles to our house. The day after I called him. And didn't charge us a dime for the visit. Yea, he's great. I don't know how much longer he'll be taking us regular folk as clients, but if you are looking for crazy talent at a fair price - Matthew's your guy.
Description of Work: Draw up a landscaping plan for our modest home surrounded by wetlands and woodlands.

They are absolutely beyond A's. He is just great at dealing with people. He is incredibly talented. He was very sensitive and knowledgeable. He gave the subcontractors specific instructions on how to do things, so I would be happy. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Matthew did an overall plan for my landscape project. He made recommendations for a custom built fence and gate, also painting, using rocks and other ideas. He worked on it for about 6 months. He is a landscape architect.
