HUGO'S OF MELROSE

To replace our downdraft range, we decided to shop local rather than the Home Depots or Lowes. First, when we tried to order a replacement downdraft range, they had no idea nor advice. Good, we did our homework. Then delivery... impossible to get an update or ETA. Then, 4 or 5 weeks later, we got a random phone call that they will deliver on the day. So we had to reschedule and everything. Finally, the installation, at an extra cost. They hooked us up with local contractors that turned out to be relatives. They quoted us $2,000-2,500 for swapping the ranges. Hard no, we found another guy that did a great job for less than $600. Bottom line, we will never use Hugo again, and big stores are as good if not better.

That was not impressive. He’s spent an hour and then tells me there’s nothing he could do, which he could have told me in the first 20 minutes. He wasted my time.

They are very good. They will come right down with the appliances faster than anybody else. They have been in business for years, years and years. They do a good job and they have always been reliable.

My wife and I went in to purchase new appliances for a condo in Melrose. I thought we'd give the local guy a shot at the business as we were doing the purchase on tax free weekend. Stay away is all I can say. Very rude and condescending people all around. I did a significant amount of research on what we needed to purchase due to the fact we needed apartment sized appliances. The moment my wife and I went in we were treated rudely. I asked about the brands and the response was, "why would you spend that kind of money on a stove" We left after this treatment and went on to spend $5,600 at a great appliance store, Yale.
