HINCHEY BROTHERS PLUMBING & HEATING

We discovered a leak in the morning, called the emergency line, received a call back within 15 minutes. The person on the phone gave an estimated time of arrival (within one hour) ended up coming in 30 mintues. He was very professional and courteous. He diagnosed the problem, explained it to me and completed the repair in an hour. He cleaned up after himself and was very neat. I was very satisfied with the quality of the work and the price.

The plumber came out, looked at the pipe, saw it was lead, said he wouldn't work on it, then charged me $100 just to come out. If you have an older home with a lead main, tell the dispatcher if the work that needs to be done is on a lead pipe so you won't get charged. I called my town and they helped me find someone to fix it.

I had multiple issues that the Hinchey Bros took care of for me over the course of a few visits. The drum trap to my upstairs bathroom was quite clogged that showering involved standing in over a foot of water. The shower valves were the old 3-knob style and also the diverter was not fully working. I knew the access to the drum trap was under the sink vanity (the previous owners did not care to keep this free to get to and I was too overwhelmed to notice when buying the house) so it needed to be removed. Sam removed it and then cleaned the drum trap up so the shower drained perfectly. He also quickly sealed up and tightened a radiator pipe that I remembered was leaking during the winter. I wanted to keep the access to the drum trap open, so a new wall hung sink was needed. The space is very tight for a wall hung sink, so Ken did some research and found a suitable sink. Bill came and installed the wall hung sink very quickly and cleanly with the faucet that I had bought for it. He also changed the drain pipe to clean up the appearance. I was having trouble finding a new single knob shower valve that was fully up-to-code, so they provided the one I liked and an appropriate cover plate. Sam cut the tile to get to the old shower valves and removed them. He did a great job since there was minimal room and existing bracing inside the wall. He properly braced the piping and valves and the cover plate fit over the access hole perfectly. I am very happy with all the work they did and now have a great shower and sink. They stuck to their estimates for the sink and shower valves, even though the shower valves were more complicated than expected. They did a great job, cleaned up neatly, and were very happy to answer any questions each time. I will be calling them the next time I need plumbing assistance (which I hope is not soon... :D )

They returned our phone call and they were professional. But the estimate was a little high and did choose someone else. They charged $110.00 per hour.

They were very responsive. We called the emergency number and was able to talk to someone right away. We were able to shut the water off to the bathroom, so it wasn't a flooding emergency, but they were still able to fix the leak by 10 am. Next time we're definitely calling them first.

It wasn't an emergency, as long as the water was off, the pipe didn't leak. But I wanted to get it fixed so I could water the plants. Mike came over and replaced the pipe and spigot, explained why it had cracked (we left the hose hooked up over the winter and the water froze in the pipe) and he showed me the old pipe with the crack, and it even had a bulge where more damage was about to occur. While he was here, he took down info to provide an estimate on replacing our kitchen sink.

On time and great service. In addition to the toilet fix, provided quote on sump pump installation.

Bill arrived as promised (between 9 and 11 am). They even called to let me know he was on his way. Bill was very professional and courteous. He showed me the problem with the toilet and explained the fix involved. The other repairs were completed efficiently and the clean up was as if he was never there. I'm thinking about using them to remodel my bathroom this spring.

I called in the evening after hours. It was not exactly an emergency but I wasn't sure what to do or if I would cause more problems if I used the water so I called the emergency number. I received a call back within 10 minutes (was on a job that was actually urgent!) After asking me a few questions, he reassured me that it was probably just the drains and that they could come out the next day, and to call back if there was a bigger issue sooner. I received a call first thing in the morning (around 8am I think) and they scheduled me for a time between 11 and 2. Bill arrived about 1pm. He was very friendly and professional. He explained what the probable causes were for the clogged drains and showed me the plumbing that can be problematic. He was quiet and neat, bringing a work cloth for the floor. He gave me some helpful information regarding care to help prevent clogging. It took about 1.5hrs. I am very pleased with the service I received for Hinchey Brothers and would certainly use them again in the future. I did not call other providers so I am not sure how the price compares. Based on previous experience with plumbers I think they were reasonable.

Overall we are very satisfied with the work. When the sink was dismantled it was discovered that the original pipes were almost completely corroded so the work may have saved some significant expense down the road even though it ended up being costly. We are very happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism exhibited. They are not cheap but the quality of the work is much better than we have seen with other plumbing companies. They also took the time to clean up after themselves so the bathroom actually looked better than when they started.

They were very reliable and were very prompt in being able to help with problems. It took them a little bit of time to get things resolved once they were here. They were good about fixing things by coming back if they ran out of time. They also came back when they said they were going to. So, I felt that they were good. I thought that the price that they charged was expensive, but I didn't compare it with any other company. Everything that they have done has worked out and I would use their services in the future too.

When the plumber arrived he survey the problem, suggested several reasonable things to check, and I asked him about cleaning some drains while he was here. When he tried to shut off the house water main, the city side of the water meter main valve leaked a little bit, and the house side knob broke off. We decided to replace the house side with a new ball valve, and leave the city side alone, since it was over a sump pump, and if the house side held, future plumbing would not be impacted. He sweat soldered the replacement valve, checked on the bathroom, found the local shut off valve washer fell off in the line and was blocking the water flow, so he replaced the shut off insert (left the old housing), cleaned out the slow draining toilet line, and then with a power drain cleaner cleaned out my washer line. He worked efficiently, professionally, and did a complete cleanup before he left.

The man who did the work was very good - professional, knew his job, and fixed the leak in a few minutes at my father's house by tightening a nut on the shutoff valve. Then we went to my house (not far) and he fixed the garbage disposal by showing me that the circuit-breaker on it had flipped, and he turned the unit back on. He noticed some leaking around the faucet set, and asked if I wanted him to fix it. I agreed, because in all, we had spent about 20 minutes between my father's house and my apartment, all was fixed, and there was still time left on the hour minimum. He quickly fixed the leak around the faucet, and I was quite happy that he had done the work. Although the tasks were tiny, I felt that the hour's work was worth it. I asked him how much it was, figuring it was under the hour and he did not need to buy any parts so it would be the $110.00. He said he had to go to his truck to find out - that he's be right back. He apparently called his office, and they told him to charge me $245.20, because they considered it to be two separate calls at the hour minimum, each. I paid the money, but it is a big ripoff. They didn't want just the minimum of my money, so they charged me for two separate jobs. No one at the office told me that there would be two separate minimum hours charged for the work - they just said he would be paid $110 an hour. I fully expected to pay that. I would NOT recommend these plumbers on the basis of this unfairness in the charge, as it was explained on the phone, and as as it later worked out.

Hinchey Brothers was great. They responded to my email quickly, came very soon to give an estimate and scheduled the work as soon as we wanted to do it. They arrived when they said they would. The best part was that when they opened the ceiling from below they discovered a way to fix our problem that was quicker and less money than what they had originally estimated. They presented us with all of our options, advised us well, and we were able to save money while still having a quality fix. They then put us in touch with a plasterer to fix the ceiling who was great and prompt as well, and did all the billing so we only had to deal with Hinchey Brothers. Great experience, and my tub is fantastic.

Overall, I was very pleased with the service. The plumber was very polite and knowledgeable. he was happy to answer any questions I had, even those that didn't pertain directly to the job itself. The work looked to be high quality and everything works well. It took about 2.5 hours to complete, which seemed appropriate for the amount of work needed to be completed.

Bill came out to look at all the things I wanted done. I knew I definitely needed my boiler cleaned and given a general checkup and I wanted him to look at the water heater to see how old it was. I also asked for some quotes on other work. Bill did some general review of the boiler and made recommendations for replacing the feeder, vent and expansion tank - he didn't have all the parts in stock and after reviewing the water heater with him I opted to replace that as well. He suggested he come back the next day with another person to help him bring the water heater down into the basement and since this person is an apprentice I wouldn't have to pay labor for both of them. It was a pleasure to work with them and everything looks great.

It wasn't an emergency, but I guess it was a slow day for them. They got out within a couple of hours of when I called. They knew rigth what to do, and fixed it right up. The prices were fair. I don't know how it compares to others, but the job turned out to be more complicated than I thought. I would definitely use them again.

Pleased with the prompt response and professional service. Labor cost seems appropriate.

Ken showed up on time and gave us a prompt estimate. He gave us great advice on what system to chose for energy-efficiency and longevity. He also let us know which companies and utility companies offered rebates, discounts, etc. He was also very patient with us while we were working out the details of the rehab loan we were getting on the house. It involved lots of paperwork and Ken was more than happy to fill out the forms to help the process along. I'm just bummed we didn't get the house. I know Ken would've been fantastic to work with during construction.

They are very prompt; someone came out very quickly to respond to my call. They do high quality work and make good diagnoses. They clean up well, too. They are a little pricey, but the work is well done.

I appreciate how they were prompt in responding to my needs in the case of an emergency. I feel that they are very attentive. The quality of their work really stands out. I think that they are thorough in their work.

Great service... if you can bypass the receptionist.

As the mother of triplets we had to just get things fixed ASAP. They were always prompt in their response to my calls and fixed our drains great. They went above and beyond what we expected (labeling pipes for us in the basement at no charge) and did everything at a good price.

Called Hinchey and they responded within the hour. I received an estimate over the phone, they sent a plumber to my home that afternoon, snaked the tub, made recommendations for preventative measures and were gone in less than an hour. They then followed up with a phone call to check on us and reiterate the recommendation for a new drain that would help prevent our toddler from tossing toys down the drain and gave us an estimate for the follow up work.

Hinchey Brothers came in and did everything that I expected them to do. They were very good about making sure they were clean and that they didnt make or leave a mess. They were very professional and we would use them again in the future.
