Hinchey Brothers Plumbing and Heating are right down the street from us and that's how we found them. They are professional and very efficient.

We've been satisfied with all of their work and have never had a complaint about the process or their people. I'm happy to keep calling them every time I need a plumber.

Placed call late morning. Secretary took message and we received an immediate call back. Arrived at approved time, after lunch, and went right to work. Took longer than expected to unplug the pipe, as something was badly stuck in it, but he got it unplugged and replaced the old piping, including the trap. On 7/19/12, we received a nice 'Thank you" card from them. Nice touch. Would definitely use again, and would definitely recommend them.

The owner, Kenny, is very friendly and customer oriented. He met with me before out project began and let me know exactly what to expect. When his employee, Bill, came, the positive experience continued. He is very careful and efficient with his work, and very thorough. If he ever has a question or is not sure about something, he contacts either Kenny or myself to find out the best course of action and get approval for it. As of today, the job is not 100% finished, but we are extremely pleased with the results so far and are optimistic about the finished product. In the future, we will continue to use them for any plumbing needs.

My hot water heater's tank cracked flooding the basement. I found Hinchey Brothers on Angie's List. They came over the next day. We discussed options, and I elected to replace both the water heater and the ancient furnace at the same time. I bought a side-vented modern super-efficient furnace and an indirect hot water heater. This allowed me to push off dealing with the chimney whose safety was uncertain. Hinchey Brothers were clear about what they would do, and prompt in doing it. They began work on Tuesday and were done by Friday, before the first frost. I had not expected they would remove the old water heater and provide a temporary replacement on the first day, and there was no additional charge for this helpful service. When I found that my kitchen sink water flow was down to a trickle in the middle of their work, they had a 24 phone line to help me understand what they had and had not done (they didn't touch the kitchen sink or its water supply), and helped me understand enough of what might be happening to let me fix the problem myself.

We own a 3-unit triple-decker in East Boston. We had an appointment scheduled for regular maintenance on our 3 boilers when one weekend, two weeks prior to our appointment, one of the boilers stopped working, leaving one apartment without heat. Fortunately is was our unit so we were able to wait until Monday to have it fixed (if it was a tenant's unit then we would have had to get it fixed over the weekend and incur the emergency service fee). We left a message on a Sunday, received a call back an hour later and were able to get on the schedule for Monday morning. The plumber was running a bit late but called to let me know he was behind schedule. He fixed our boiler (broken igniter) and cleaned it. He also did the regular maintenance and cleaning on the other two boilers. We discussed the age of the other igniters and I decided to replace them rather than wait on them breaking. I did not feel pressured at all with this additional expense and felt that it was a good decision. The plumber was nice, courteous, professional and efficient. He did not talk down to me and explained to me where the various shut-offs were, while giving me an overview of how a boiler worked. He also tagged a few things so we could identify them easily. I was very impressed with their service and will use them for all future heating/plumbing needs. The woman in the office who schedules the appointments is very nice and accommodating as well.

Overall, the experience with Hinchey Brothers was excellent. When I called the office, I was able to speak to someone and make an appointment right away. I was given a time frame when the plumber would arrive and on that day I received a call an hour before to inform me that the plumber would be arriving in an hour. The plumber, Sam, arrived and he checked the basement sink, which he saw the pipe was rotting away from the sink. He was very thorough and provided an explanation of everything he was doing. He took his time and made sure the sink was workining well. I was able to watch him repair the sink, which he didn't mind at all. I was asked him questions about the company and the services they provided. I was interested in the emergeny services the company provided and also asked about servicing the gas heater. Sam was very helpful in providing all the information about the company. He checked for the leak in the basement ceiling. He ran the tub and shower to find the leak and then he poured water onto the tiles, which caused the leak. He recommended we replace the tiles. He showed us the loose tiles and explained how the water was going behind the tiles and leaking into the basement. This may also have caused damage behind the tiles. He provided a tile contractor's name for us to call. He also recommended changing the older faucet handles to the newer one that is up to code. As he was leaving, he remembered I asked about the emergency service and also heating maintenance and he checked the gas furnace to see what kind it was. He also showed me and my mother the shut off valves for both the water heater and the main water. I was very happy with Sam, both professionally and how pleasant and helpful he was. I hired this company for my mother, who is older and needs help taking care of her house. I was so impressed with Sam of how respectful and patient he was with my mother and he took time to answer her questions. She doesn't understand maintenance issues and gets very confused and nervous. He made her feel very comfortable. In addition to being a very professional and conscienctious plumber, he is a very polite and considerate person who treats people with respect. Overall, I like this company because you can reach someone when you call the office. When the plumber comes out that day, they will fix the problem, if they can. It is very rare to be able to reach a plumber and actually have them call you back. In addition to being available, I was happy with their work. Sam did a very good job of fixing the sink and finding the leak and was very informative and helpful. I will definitely use this company again.

Hinchey brother have a reputation for being the best in Melrose and I can see why. They have a knowledgable team that work to identify the problem and propose options for resolution. We were mulling more efficient tankless and indirect water heating methods. They shared a quote for 4 different solutions that enabled us to make an informed decision. They were in and out at the times they said there were and the new hot water is not only hot but clear of the rust color that we plaguing us with our old water heater.

Our water tank needed service and ultimately replacement. I emailed Hinchey the night prior requesting service the following day. Communication for an appointment was terrific and consistent. Service was handled with promptness and professionalism, on the following day as I requested. Mike came out and followed through with an option to repair, (which we requested) then saw that a new tank was needed. He followed up with his office on all matters pertaining to cost, more work, pricing options etc. We went ahead with Hinchey even though we contacted other plumbers; reasons being quality, professionalism, promptness, and angie's list. Overall my husband and I are happy customers and will surely use them again. Our Angie's list coupon was applied :) And yet again hats off to Angie's list for referrals. The plumber checked the water control by removing the face plate. It was old but working fine. He had to replace it. The leak was not found.

The price was reasonable. They are local and near by. They are professional, quick, and it went very well.

All my plumbing needs go well with Hinchey Brothers. They do not under quote but you get what you pay for. They are the most professional plumbers I have ever had and I can depend on them to do the job and not worry about it. This company will work with you and other contractors so that the job is a smooth one.

I couldn't have asked for better. Scheduling was quick and coordinated well with my need to leave for work. Plumber was very pleasant and informative. Plumber arrived at time promised. Plumber had a good idea about the job. Was very accomodating to maintaining doors closed due to pets. Notified me when I called when he would be finishing and how job was progressing. Left easy to read and understandable bill and faucet info. Locked up house as I had asked. Area was immaculate. Very happy to come home to a job well done! I appreciated the $25 coupon toward the cost of the job provided by this company on Angie's list. The coupon was for a 1st time user.

Kenny came out as promised and I was very impressed with him. He promptly provided a quote and was very easy to speak with. I found him to be extremely competent although I did not have the opportunity of meeting any of the other plumbers on his team since we did not end up hiring him for this work. I would definitely keep him in mind for a future job.

They did an excellent job. I found them on Angie’s List. They are on the higher side, but I haven’t had a need to use a plumber since then. Plumbers can be pretty expensive. They came out immediately. It’s a large enough company that they send out people the next day. They do show up which is really go. They take care of the problem. I had a problem with a sink upstairs and they said that it would be too expensive to fix it. They didn’t try to sell me. I would use them again in the future.

They came on time. Diagnosed the issue quickly and repaired it efficiently. Explained every detail to me along the way and did a great job cleaning up. All around it was a great experience.

It went very well. They were very thorough. They also installed a new spicket and dryer vent. They are a little pricey but their work is worth it to have a good plumber. We have been using them for several years and are very pleased with this company. A few years ago they installed some boilers for us.

They were very good. I think I looked them up on Angies List and chose them after reading the reviews. It was one gentleman and he was very quick and very neat. He was very clean and cleaned up after himself. He was very accommodating to do it right away to fit my schedule.

Water heater began leaking water on Saturday afternoon. I called the emergency line and someone called back promptly. They suggested I shut the water off feeding the tank rather than have them come out for an expensive service call on a Saturday and to call the office Monday morning. I called Monday morning and they were able to be at my home by 10AM and called me to let me know when the plumber was on his way. They quoted out a few options for replacing the tank as I requested. Mike was courteous and extremely clean and was there until ~5:00 finishing up the work. The area was cleaner than when they arrived and nothing was left behind. They charge $110/hour and start charging when the truck leaves the shop as well as when they are looking for parts to put together a quote. The only knock on Hinchey is the steep hourly charge otherwise the experience, workmanship, and interaction was excellent. I would have tried to get a couple quotes for the sake of comparison under other circumstances,.

The time from first visit to written estimate delivery was extremely quick. Plumbers came to do the work as agreed, on time. They seemed to be very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. They discovered a problem with our hot water regulator for our sinks and shower while testing their new work out. They were able to fix the problem while they were there finishing up the original work. My only complaints are that they seem to be a very busy plumbing company and scheduling work to be done after the estimate was about 1.5-2 weeks out and they require a 50% of estimate payment before they will even put you on the schedule. Overall, I am very satisfied with their work.

The repairman was punctual, finished the job quickly and was helpful showing me how to deal with similar issues in the future. We will definitely be using this firm again.

Excellent service! We had made an appointment with a window of 8-8:30, but I had explained to the woman in the office that I had to drop my kids off at school at 8:00 and couldn't be there until 8:15. She said that would be fine, but when I got home there was a voice mail message saying the plumber had been there and left. When I called the office she immediately apologized and got in touch with the plumber, who came all the way back and did not seem put out at all, no attitude. He was very personable and took time to really explain the details of what he was seeing and doing; I got the sense that I was dealing with someone who had a great deal of expertise. He fixed the radiator (turned out to be best case scenario, faulty vent) but because they charge a one hour minimum, he encouraged me to ask questions, which led to a lengthy exploration of our entire heating system, including checks and adjustments on all the radiators, and an in-depth explanation/quote of what would be entailed and what it would cost to overhaul our aging boiler. Very impressed and definetely will call again.
