Description of Work: Sean Curran put in a new kitchen floor for us. His work was excellent in every way. He took a while to give us a firm date, but when he did, he was prompt in fulfilling what he had promised, and he went over and beyond to help us move furniture, etc. Sean is pleasant, courteous, reliable and in all ways a pleasure to do business with.

+ 0 moreSean Curran was great to work with from start to finish. He answered my initial inquiry immediately and provided with me all the information needed to make an educated decision. I was specifically interested in Marmoleum flooring (sheeting, not tiles) and was having trouble finding someone who could get the material, but more importantly knew how to install it. Sean has been doing this work for over 25 years and the proof was in the excellent result. He's easy to reach by phone or email and was gracious about answering all my questions. My kitchen renovation contractor found him easy to work with as well and had only good things to say about him. Sean and his assistant removed the old vinyl flooring, added a new subfloor and leveled the surface in preparation for the Marmoleum. The next day he meticulously laid the Marmoleum and gave me directions on how to care for it. He did what he said he was going to do on schedule and without fanfare. About a week later he showed up at the door with a bottle of the floor cleaner he had recommended. I was/am thrilled with the work and would recommend Curran Wood Flooring to anyone.

+ -1 moreReasonably punctual. He was able to start work within about 10 days of the quote. Workers strived to minimize dust. The owner was not onsite during the work, but his foreman was very responsible and made sure the work was done properly. The owner did stop by during the few days it took to complete to be sure everything was going well. All the work was done in the time promised. We found some particles in the final finish. When we told the owner, he had his foreman return and pull out the particles and touch up the finish in those areas. The baseboards had more noticeable dings than we had expected. It may have been due in part to bad paint on our baseboards, but the owner gave us a fair deduction on the bill to make up for repainting the problem areas. The floors look beautiful.
Description of Work: Sanded upstairs floors to bare wood. Refinished with three coats. Installed and finished threshold for bathroom. Sanded stairs and added two top coats.

+ 0 moreI hired Sean Curran because I was sold on the Forbo material, and not many contractors work with this material at all. That said, Sean is very knowledgeable, flexible, and professional. I took a long time in making my decision to both use this material and to hire him, and he was also patient and responsive with my questions, long before it was evident to him that I would hire him. I spoke with other vendors, and was much less impressed with their bravado and lack of knowledge. Sean leaves his ego far away from the job - it was refreshing to work with him. Flooring is very expensive - I chose the 'investment' route - picking a material that would last, and installing that material in a very difficult, uneven space.
Description of Work: Worked directly with longleaf lumber (price includes labor and materials) to order the materials needed, picked them up, delivered, and installed between 500 - 600 sq ft of forbo linoleum sheet and tile flooring in a 3/4 bath and entire fourth floor/finished attic space that included a bedroom. Work and materials included a sub-floor.

He was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. The only reason I didn't hire him is that his quote for service was much higher than I found elsewhere.

+ 0 moreHad a wonderful experience with Curran's Flooring this month. We'd decided to have our floors finally refinished after years of not really taking care of them. These floors in the living room, dining area, hall and kitchen, had been checked over before by a few repairmen who thought they were beyond saving, but Sean was sure he could bring them back. And he did! His team came into the house, went to work and in a few days' time the floors looked amazingly good. They had been so dark and stained, and now they shine! Sean was true to his word. We had been surprised by the more than reasonable price Sean estimated for us. And this amount is exactly what we paid, with no add-on charges to surprise us at the end of the job. Couldn't be happier.... We found Sean to be a most helpful, sincere and witty man to work with. Glad we had this chance to meet him.
Description of Work: The cleaning, sanding, and refinishing of most of our house flooring was more than overdue. We asked our painting contractor for a recommendation for a flooring repair company and he directed us to Curran Flooring of Melrose, MA, telephone 617-293-9951. Sean came out the next day to see the condition of our hardwood floors and to begin to prepare an estimate. This we had next day as promised. The work took just as many days as promised.

+ 0 moreCurran let us order our materials directly from source (no markup), and completed the cook floor installation in about 2 weeks from demo to final sealant application. Sean was very easy to work with, friendly and courteous. We did have one minor damage issue to our refrigerator and Sean took care of all replacement/repair work in a timely manor. We are very pleased with our new cork floors in the kitchen--Curran flooring did a great job.
Description of Work: We used Curran Flooring to demo existing kitchen floor, install cork flooring in our kitchen, approx. 160sq ft. as well as coordinate sanding and re-finishing our hardwood floors on the first floor.

He went above and beyond what most contractors do to be helpful in making recommendations, even for things he would not be installing himself. He truly seems to have the best interests of the customer in mind at all times. Sean and his team were professional and friendly, and their work was completed quickly and expertly. The carpeting we got was installed perfectly around some complicated areas and on stairs. Before we hired Curran Flooring, our laundry room had been a consistent problem (carpeting, painting, and tile floors did not work well), and other companies told us they could not install any better options. The flooring that Sean recommended had been exactly what we needed, and he did the necessary surface preparation to ensure that the installation would be durable and look good. I would not hesitate to hire Curran Flooring again!

He and his tile-layer worked hard and did a very good, thorough job, as well as cleaned up really well. The floors are gorgeous, and we are so happy we went with Sean!

+ 0 moreI already said everything above. If you needed flooring done, just hire him. He will not be the cheapest guy, because he does a quality job, and is totally worth it.
Description of Work: I signed a lease on a new business location. The place was a mess. I had to have all the interior walls removed, and the flooring had been installed around the walls. I needed to keep my budget low, so Sean worked to find solutions that saved me money. Half the flooring was carpet and the other half was ceramic tile. I couldn't have carpet for my work, and the ceramic wasn't my first choice. But, he was able to repair the ceramic and then offer me a very economical, but smooth and sturdy flooring option for the remainder of the space. I love the way the floor looks and the quality of the job is top notch. I was on a very tight deadline and he finished it with time to spare. Sean recommended someone to fix the remaining walls for me who did an amazing job and fit in the work within the time I needed it. Kudos to these guys.

+ -1 moreThe other job was a carpet installation and they were great on both the jobs. They used good quality material and did a really careful job. The tiling, in particular, is in the laundry room and I’ve had different flooring put down 5 different times since I’ve lived here and it’s never been done well. It had never been the right kind of flooring for that room. This was the first time that it’s really been something that was appropriate and done well and really worked. They did a really careful job going around a lot of things that were in the room that were permanent fixtures, like the oil tank and they did a really careful job getting the tiling cut and installed around all of those extra things. They did a really great job and seemed very professional. The owner, Sean Curran, was really nice and went out of his way to be really helpful and did a great job.
Description of Work: I used Curran Flooring LLC and they did the installation of a tile floor. They did 2 jobs for me; one of them was about a year ago and the other was maybe about 9 months ago.

The carpet is flawless, the tiling in my bathroom beautiful, the hardwood matches my existing wood well, and the laminate and tiles in the basement are just great! I was shocked by how quickly the work was done too! And I was pleasantly surprised that Sean had some of my carpet remnants bound into area rugs for me. Everything cost exactly what Sean quoted me, which was reasonable, and the work was done exactly according to schedule. I am so happy with the work and would recommend Sean to anyone.
Description of Work: I hired Sean Curran to change almost all the flooring in my house: hardwood on the second floor, new carpet and tile on the third, and tile/laminate in the basement. Sean came to my house with different flooring samples, and gave his honest opinion about which would be best for my project in terms of maintenence, cost, and durability. I was very grateful for his advice, and impressed by not just the scope of his knowledge but also his willingness to help an indecesive and confused flooring newbie (me) make an informed decision. Great thing about Sean- he knows awesome people. When he re-floored my bathrooms, he suggested that I get new toilets. Apparently mine were not so nice. When I agreed to see the quote for this- he brought in a plumber he has known for years and years- and the guy coordinated his work with the flooring guys. It was really nice to not have to search for a plumber- and to have Sean manage everything. And he does all kinds of flooring: wood, linoleum, cork, bamboo, tile, stone ETC. He knows a lot about green flooring as well. Sean is meticulous, and the work he performs is absolutely top-notch. He refuses to cut any corners and is a lovely person to work with.
