Sergio's Renovations

Sergio gutted the entire kitchen, removed the wall in between the kitchen and living room, and created an open layout kitchen. From beginning to end, Sergio was professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. He gave me a fixed cost labor bid, plus materials, and when small things came up, was able to adjust without nickel and diming. Thoughout the process, I had the sense that he was keeping an eye on the overall results, and in a couple of cases, advised me to make small changes that created a better results. In one cases, where his team didn't do exactly what was needed, he immediately volunteered to make it right at his expense. I would definitely use his services again, and would enthusiastically recommend his services.

Sergio seemed like a good guy, but after visiting our home to discuss bathroom renovation, he said he would provide a quote but never did. I called to follow up 2 times, but got no response from him. It's fine if he was not interested in the job, but why not let me know? We found someone else who is great.

Sergio and his team were wonderful! He came in on time and under budget, which says a lot because we gave him a very short (6 week!) time frame for all of the renovations. It's been over a year since he completed the job and we're still very happy with the results. He's extremely easy to work with given his calm demeanor and willingness to listen. His painter and tile guy, were meticulous. The floor guys were less so, but you don't really notice unless you look closely. Some members of his team didn't speak fluent English so there were a few occasions that we had to repeat instructions to different people, but it was a minor issue. Our only complaint is that we're considering some additional renovations and he's too busy! One tip, he's much easier to reach (and faster to respond) via texting than by phone. Also, $50k was the cost of the labor and materials. Appliances, fixtures, etc. were an additional cost (we purchased directly) and he also gave us receipts at the end of the job for anything not included in materials.

Sergio and his team did a complete renovation of our master bathroom. The new bathroom has a large shower with a handheld shower head on a wall bar and a rainshower overhead, a wide double vanity with three sets of drawers and vessel sinks, a built-in linen closet, some custom storage above the shower and linen closet (high ceilings), a toilet, and quite a bit of natural stone tiling on the floor and in the shower, with complex layouts and patterns. Sergio was very easy to work with, and communication with him went well. Mostly I interacted directly with his crew members, who were pleasant, careful and respectful of our home, and well-skilled. They worked with me throughout the project to make sure everything was done the way I wanted (fortunately, I work from home and was readily available). I have to give extra kudos to his tile guy, Fabrizio, who did a great job; I was a little anxious about the tile work, given the cost and complexity. Everything went pretty smoothly, really. A few times when I noticed something wasn't quite the way I wanted, things were corrected quickly and with no hassles. The project took longer than I hoped, but that's a fact of renovation life. Note :the cost noted above is for labor only. Sergio just charges for labor and basic construction materials, for which he provides receipts, so there is no padding or hidden stuff. We bought everything else ourselves. I definitely recommend Sergio and would use him again.

I contacted Sergio to demo a couple existing closets and install bigger, better ones. As well, I contracted for painting and electrical work. Sergio is very professional and punctual. His crew acts professionally and delivers excellent work. I requested the work to be completed over a long weekend and his crew worked through the weekend and on time. The carpenter is very quick and accurate. He knows exactly what cuts to make and what products to have at hand. The painting quality was excellent. What you would expect from professional painters. The lines were straight even in difficult spaces and the paint was distributed smoothly. The electrician was also highly skilled and works quickly. I definitely recommend Sergio and his team. I plan to use them again for bathroom renovations and maybe some other work!

Sergio came recommended to me by friends who had used him for their renovation, and he was great! My condo building's roof was damaged by Hurricane Sandy and we couldn't live there until it was repaired, so I figured there was no better time to do the kitchen renovations that I have been talking about doing for years. Sergio came in with a reasonable estimate and good ideas. He and his team did a great job getting everything ripped out and rebuilt, and were also very cooperative when the condo management's own contractors needed to come through and do their own building-related repairs. All their expenses were documented and came in according to estimate. Also Sergio wasn't pushy about asking for money up front. Most of my worries about remodeling the kitchen weren't about the expense or the trouble, but were a result of having watched too many home-and-garden TV shows about contractor horror stories. :) No such worries with Sergio!

We called to set up an initial visit to get an estimate. Sergio came later that day to look at walls. That was on a Tuesday. By the end of the week everything was done. It was very seamless. This is how every job should be.

We found Sergio from Angie's list, his team is one of the top rated , after we read almost all the reviews of the top rated teams, we believed he's more likely the best. We called him and he showed up immediately in the house, then we explained the work to him, he's very sharp yet not pushy at all, and he's also very personable so you feel you want to work with him. He actually quoted a very reasonanable price among all , so we decided to use his company. Since we had a lot to do to this old house (1940), the project altogether took more than 3 months, but not even a day during we felt annoyed or dissapointed. His team was always working hard, proactively communicating changes and concerns etc. and always cleaning up before they left the house everyday, everyone was so nice and helpful. We did many add-on works, Sergio sometime waved the cost or charged very reasonable price. There was never any issue reaching Sergio even weekends, he responded to texts and calls, and so did his crew members. All in all, the quality of this work was superb and the process was excellent. We were extremely satisdied with all aspects of the job and will definitely ask his team to do other projects very soon.

When we finally decided to renovate our kitchen, we immediately thought of Sergio, who had done such a marvelous job with our bathroom four years ago. There turned out to be so many hidden structural problems that the kitchen/family room had to be completely rebuilt. Sergio is so knowledgeable and experienced that nothing ever fazes him -- or his extraordinarily competent crew. While the job eventually took a long time to complete, the results are more than worth it. As a contractor, Sergio has many worthy qualities, but, above all, it is his absolute commitment to quality that sets him apart. Almost immediately this job became much bigger when we discovered the back wall was completely rotted we could see the back of the aluminum siding when we pulled down the interior wall. It needed to be completely rebuilt, Sergio was very fair with this adjustment. We were very pleased with the quality of all the workmanship and Sergio and his crews ability to creatively work toward our vision. He did not nickel and dime us when we made small changes. His entire crew were courteous, professional and skilled. His price was excellent, even with big changes and materials his final price came in below our other bids.

Ask for an estimate and never get one after several voicemails.

From the beginning to the end of the project Sergio was great. Phenomenal actually. This was the first major home renovation project that I needed a contractor for and I couldn't be happier with the service Sergio provided. Sergio was instrumental in helping my wife and I decide exactly how to tackle the project, giving us great advice on both layout and hardware options. The initial estimate was fair and there were no cost surprises as we moved thru the project (took about 2 months to complete). I feel fortunate to have found such a reliable, honest and hardworking contractor for my first major house project (this was especially true considering that my wife and I were living about 300 miles away while the work was being done and only got to see the work progression every few weeks or so). There was never any issue reaching Sergio to ask him questions, concerns or get updates. He was always professional and polite no matter if I called him first thing in the morning or later on in the evening. All in all, the quality of work was superb and the process of dealing with Sergio over the life of the project was excellent. We were extremely happy with all aspects of the job and will definitely look to use his company's services again in the future.

Called Sergio who impressed me since he responded right away...came out to see what type of renovations we wanted...promised a verbal quote by phone in a week. Ten days went by, no call. I called to ask if he was still interested in submitting a quote. He promised a quote by 12 noon the next day. He never called me. I sent him a text 2 hours later to which he responded with a figure of almost 10,000. The dollar figure was not an issue, but upon asking questions about committing to the work etc he was not only vague, but could not even pick up the phone to answer my questions. Thanks but no thanks. Totally unprofessional in our situation.

Sergio called 10 minutes before his 1st appointment with us to re-schedule and tell us he was running late that day. Then he showed up late for the re-scheduled time. Then he said he would call the next day or day after that to give us the estimate...he never called or followed up.

I called Sergio after having a bad experience with another contractor who charged a LOT of money to remodel our bathroom, but unfortunately did a terrible tiling job - tiles and grout were detaching from their base after 2 months. Sergio saved the day! He removed all the old tile and grout - both on the walls and floor, and re-tiled the shower. This required that his crew remove the plumbing fixtures and essentially do the entire job over again to truly fix the previous contractor's shoddy work. His quote was VERY reasonable. He was prompt, courteous and extremely professional. His crew was also great - and SO NEAT - unlike the previous contractor. I am hoping to bring him back for more work at my condo! I would highly recommend him. He's also a really nice guy!

This was a difficult bathroom remodeling job and it went pretty smoothly despite complexity. Sergio impressed me from the onset with solutions to remodeling challenges, including fitting the bathroom configuration I wanted into available space, which other contractors didn't have answers to. His construction crew is very good; the tile guy is amazing. We ran into several unforeseen issues during the remodeling that Sergio took care of without additional charge, which I wouldn't have expected. We are very pleased with our new bathroom; it is beautiful and exactly what we wanted, and the price was right (I should note, the cost of $15,000 above is for labor and materials only; it does not include tub, vanity, flooring, etc, as Sergio has customers buy these independently). The only negative thing I would say about Sergio's operation is that there was some miscommunication about project details, some of which was due to poor English of his crew, and some of which was due to minor lapses in project management.

from the intial meeting to the final payment one of the most pleasant experiences i've ever had with a contractor. Sergio offered helpful ideas on how to give us more room and comfort and he was right on. as it being the only bath in our older home he had to make it as less intrusive on our lives as possible and we had no problems. we feel for the price (very fair) and the quality of workmanship we recieved a bargain. his crew we're very polite and neat and put in long hours, some days exceeding 12 hours. we have a few more projects in mind and this is the man we are going to, give him two thumbs up and a heartful of thanks.

Sergio's team renovated our kitchen from start to finish. It hadn't been renovated since the 1950's, so the change is dramatic. We're very happy with the outcome. Along the way, we had very few surprises and were pleased with how smoothly work progressed. The team was extremely professional and we'd be happy to have them do another project in our house. The pictures tell the story!

Sergio is fantastic! His price is very competitive and considering the work quality, it's probably one of the best deals. The kitchen we inherited from previous owners was down right hideous (original 1950. They took cabinets doors off and called it country kitchen) and it was all torn down to install a brand new one, which looked like one from the HGTV. From the beginning Sergio was very helpful in guiding us with suppliers with cabinets, plumbing fixtures and tiles. He also recommended an architect as we need to take two walls down and re-enforce. The crew did a great job taking down the whole thing and work quality was great, installing the cabinets and the tiles. As with any construction job, many unexpected things happened and Sergio did the best he could to fix right away. The electrical outlet in the bath was not installed properly and it was relocated very quickly. We also needed to reframe a portion of the bathroom wall, which was overlooked and he tore the wall down from the backside to correct the issue. For the fireplace, Sergio suggested to take additional walls down to make it look even (something I did not think of) and also built a mantel that looks awesome. Sergio sub-contracts plumbing and electric so one has to communicate very well with all parties to ensure the work is done the way you want it. Carpentry, tiling and painting are done by his company directly and they are very neat, polite/considerate and skilled at their jobs. I especially liked our tile and painting guys, who werer very detail oriented and careful. The painters re-chaulked all of the spaces between the floor and walls themselves without myself asking for it and they also re-painted the radiator covers to make everything brand new. After the work was completed, some problems developed including the countertop coming off of the walls and bathroom shower not functioning properly. Sergio sent his crew right away to fix the problems. For the countertop issue, he brought in extra consultants to make sure the repair is done properly. Sergio is very busy and popular (due to many reviews like this). Sometimes, it's hard to get a hold of him but he eventually calls you back if you are persistent. Once he's committed though (job initiated), he is there all the time and will address any problems without any hassle. Since he's so busy, it's important that you communicate things with him constantly to make sure the job is done right. As with any construction job, some things go wrong for whatever reason and it's as important to see how people respond to fix the issues. Sergio is highly responsible for these things and I was very happy with his commitment to do the job right. We'll use him again.

Sergio's work was of a very high quality and his price was great. We had quoted with several contractors and Sergio was quite a bit less than the others. We went to see a couple of his previous projects to make sure the quality was good and we weren't disappointed. He is VERY BUSY, so you need to be willing to follow-up with him pretty aggressively, but the combo of price and quality is definitely worth it. The demolition was not an easy job as the house's walls have metal lathing with concrete on it and then plaster. His poor team spent a week just on demolition. They removed a small wall in both of the bathrooms and also widened openings from the kitchen to the breakfast room. They then redid all of the wiring and plumbing all the way from the source and back to the waste pipes for both of the bathrooms and the kitchen. They then closed in the walls and floors back in, prepped it for tiling and cabinets and then installed all the fixtures, cabinets, lights, floor and wall tiles, backsplash, etc. Any time there was an issue, Sergio would get it fixed right away (e.g., wiring in the wrong place for a light, etc.). He was also very upfront with anything that was not in the original estimate (for example we replaced all of the plumbing so we wouldn't have to worry about 60 year old pipes giving way). In all cases, I think Sergio was more than fair. Sergio also prides himself on his team trying to keep the house as neat as possible. Given the extent of the renovations on 2 floors of the house, the mess was well contained. It's impossible to keep it really clean, but they did an admirable job of keeping it livable! We also have dark wood floors that scratch very easily and Sergio and his team kept them perfectly protected. The end results were really stunning. His cabinet makers, masons and painters were really, really good. Best of all, the bulk of the project was completed right before Thanksgiving and we loved being able to celebrate the Holidays using the new kitchen.

Whole experience with Sergio and his team was great. His team was responsive, careful, respectful and clean. I recommend him highly.

Sergio has just completed his second renovation in my condo. His first work was done one year ago when he totally transformed a bathroom and adjacent dressing area. Once again, he has done a "knock out" job. (Pun intended.) Every aspect of this project, this time a totally new look for my kitchen, was handled respectfully and responsibly. Sergio and his crew show up when they promise---and on time; Sergio returns every call in a timely fashion. If it cannot be immediately, it is soon afterward showing that when Sergio is with another customer he gives that customer his full attention, too. What is amazing about Sergio is not only his masterful management of the big picture, but his scrupulous attention to small details. He knows the ins and outs of every aspect of a job and gives advice when appropriate. It is clear that he aims to please his customers. If necessary, Sergio will send a crew back repeatedly to attend to even a small concern of a client. Sergio must choose his workers with great care because not only does each member excel in a particular specialty, but each is also highly attentive to the concerns of clients. Sergio and his crew are the only service people who have made me look forward to their arrival at my home. What a way to work!

I've had several renovations done in the past in a previous condo, and I have just as many bad experiences to report. This time I interviewed many contractors before choosing Sergio, and I am very happy with my decision. Sergio is very professional and courteous. He gives reasonable cost estimates, and stands by the quality of his work. He adheres to the agreed upon cost for labor even if the required effort turns out to be greater than expected. He would also try his best to accommodate the requests of neighbors and condo regulations to limit disturbances. This was quite a difficult renovation as the building was built in 1920s. The walls (even internal, non-load bearing ones) are made of plaster and terra-cotta bricks. The bathroom walls were completely covered in subway tiles that were cemented to plaster and to terra-cotta tiles making the walls over 5 inches thick. The unit is on the fourth floor of the building with strict regulations on when contractors could work. Demolition of kitchen and bathroom itself was a large project. I selected a kitchen cabinet designer and provider recommended by Sergio. The cabinet provider was very good, and they worked with Sergio to coordinate the design and installation of the cabinets and granite. The project went smoothly. Shortly after the work began, I had to work abroad for several months leaving the renovation at the hands of Sergio. I was a little apprehensive, but Sergio proceeded with the renovations professionally. When I returned, I was very pleased with the progress and quality of work. There were some mishaps as expected in any large renovation projects. One such mishap was this. As the building is very old, a water pipe had unfortunately burst one night during the renovation causing water damage to units below mine. I had to call Sergio in the middle of the night. Again, Sergio acted very professionally and took responsibility and repaired all the damage the burst pipe had caused to the neighboring units on his own dime. Further, the water leakage had caused some damage to my floors, and Sergio had to fix the stain on the damaged hardwood to match the rest of the condo. This is a hard task to do, and many floor contractors would avoid attempting to fix this. Sergio stuck with me and worked with sub-contractors to sand and stain the floors over and over again until I was satisfied. I am very pleased with the completed project, and I would highly recommend Sergio to any one who wants to perform work on their home.
