Sergio's Renovations

Terrific! The counter tops were even better than expected because the stone cutting company had made a mistake. Sergio and his crew were nice and very easy to work with. As other members here have stated, I did have trouble reaching Sergio by phone before I definitely decided to have the work done because he was very busy. But once I told him I wanted the work done, he always got back right away and would always ask if everything was fine. He even came back and cleaned inside the cabinets himself when I said there was some debris left there. Sergio really cares about his clients and wants to make sure they are very happy about the work, even small things. I ended up giving him a tip because I think he truly deserves it. He charged me half of what another company quoted and his guys did a great job and also seemed to care about doing a good job. I will definitely hire him again if I need any work done and would happily recommend him to my friends.

Sergio came out to the property within days of calling to provide a free estimate. He determined that the leak was likely caused by a poorly installed flat, rubber roof and that sealing/caulking the area should prevent further leakage. Due to the urgent nature of the request, he and his crew came out later that week (7 AM Saturday morning) and spent two hours caulking the area and removing the damaged drywall in order to inspect the area. His crew was meticulous in their work and clean-up, and were successful in stopping the leak. Moreover, Sergio was the only roofer/contractor we could find who was willing to do such a small scope of work. All others (also Angie's List companies) insisted on full roof replacements and quoted estimates of $5,000 - $8,000. Sergio was quick to point out that a simple sealing should solve the problem and prolong the life of the roof a few more years. We have only good things to say about his work and will use him again in the near future.

I would highly recommend Sergio for any remodeling project. He came out to our house in Wayland to provide an estimate for the remodeling of our bathroom, despite his concern that our location might be too far outside of his travel range. He gave great suggestions for the remodel, by far the best suggestions that we heard after interviewing a number of contractors. He was also incredibly honest and advised us as to the price range that the job should cost. He was personable, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and kind. It was truly our loss that we lived a little too far for him to take the job. And the suggestions he gave us alone were worth the cost of our membership to Angie's List.

Sergio's men modified and completed a wall between our living and dining room that I had stripped down to the studs. They also cut and installed crown molding in three rooms. Exactly following a sketched plan I had made, the men cut the studs, installed three heavy beams for support, put in two knee walls and columns and sheet rocked the surfaces. They then did the crown molding, completing the job in one day by working almost twelve hours straight. The next day a plasterer put in corner bead and neatly finished and sanded the sheet rock for painting, which I plan to do

Sergio was quick and prompt with an estimate, he was able to begin work two weeks after giving the estimate. His men spent three days replacing the ceiling. A water problem was discovered to be worse than first expected and a wall needed to be completely replaced. This added to the estimate ($300) but was definitely necessary. Sergio communicated very effectively with me regarding all aspects of the job, and was always reachable by phone. Additionally, I decided on the paint job after the work on the ceiling was performed and he was able to complete that in about three days over Memorial Weekend. I am very satisfied with the carpentry and painting work that was performed. The job significantly improved a one bedroom condominium. Sergio's estimate covers labor only, and he subs out electrical and plumbing. He gave me a good idea of how much material costs would be and was very professional in providing details of what was spent on materials.

Sergio sent in his team to finish up a number of projects I started but was unable to finish because of time and complexity. This included installing custom trim, matching the style I started, hand rails, a small flight of stairs, re-pointing my chimney and repairing the bricks on the front steps, and finally painting several rooms. After going over what needed to be done, his team went beyond the call in their skills, working quickly and efficiently, coming up with suggestions to improve upon my ideas, and performing work that needed to be done, but that I had forgotten to point out. They were completely trustworthy, I left the house open for them to come in and work while I was out of town. The final results are excellent, and I highly recommend him.

Sergio came the day after I called for an estimate. Before entering my home he asked if he should take his shoes off! He listened to my ideas to renovate the bathroom and offered suggestions of where to look for products and design ideas to maximize the look and minimize the budget. We thought we had to buy a new tub, but he suggested we refinish ours, which saved lots of money and headache. His crew arrived on time, worked long hours, and cleaned up after themselves every night. Special mention goes to his tile guy, John. I have never seen someone work so hard or be so dedicated to his craft. He is truly amazing. He built the shelf inset in my tub area and I love it. On demolition day, he even took all the trash to the curb as the next day was trash day. Sergio had to return to Brazil for a time, but his assistant Evandro was responsive and helpful. Sergio was patient with all of my questions and concerns. His mission is customer satisfaction from start to finish.

They were neat, careful, and wonderful. They did a beautiful job.

Sergio was very professional and accommodating. He and his carpenter offered good suggestions but took into account our preferences and concerns. The work was finished on time, and they even waited to paint the bookshelves until a time when we were out of town, so as to avoid paint fumes.

I was very impressed with this job from start to finish. Sergio came out to do the estimate the day after I called. He was able to schedule the work very shortly after, and the painting crew worked overtime to complete the job in time for our preferred moving date (and cleaned up everything before leaving). The flooring crew (subcontractor) also did an excellent job in a timely manner, but was not quite as good about cleanup. As someone who dreads having to work with most contractors I will not hesitate to call Sergio's again for my next project.

Sergio came over right away, promised a quote & never called back. Nice guy, seemed to know his stuff, but never followed up.

I can sum up my experience in 2 words, "SIMPLY AWESOME"! I was on a tight time line to move into my condo. Sergio made time for me on a Sunday to come in and survey the work I wanted done. As a new homeowner, with limited budget, I wanted a lot done. Sergio made a lot of recommendations that pushed me to do some things I might not have done. I didn't feel Sergio was trying to up sell as it's the homeowners responsibility to say, "No". Any good contractor should give you recommendations on how to improve your home and that is just what Sergio did. In the end I went with most his recommendations, along with his promise that my home would look beautiful when they were done. I left a set of keys and work began a few days later. They worked day and night even coming in on Thanksgiving Day to finish up. Sergio came in a little higher than his quote because there were a few little things I had added along the way. I am extremely happy with the work and I will definitely use Sergio again!

Sergio was quite helpful in sorting through the work to be done, discussing choices of materials, etc. His crew was competent, showed up as scheduled, and left the work areas neat. Overall, they did a good job, and the quality was more than satisfactory, albeit not perfect. Some of the deck boards weren't spaced evenly, however Sergio sent his guys out promptly to fix. He was genuinely interested in generating a satisfied customer, which is 1/2 of the battle. Throughout the job, Sergio was consistently hard to get a hold of because his cell phone voicemail wasn't working. He stated he is in the process of setting up a real office phone, which would certainly be a plus.

Sergio is by far the best contractor that I have ever dealt with. He has pride and it shows in his personality and design tips. He and his crew are friendly and reliable and you really get the sense upon meeting Sergio that he is an honest person.

I hired Sergio to paint the exterior of my house and do associated carpentry because of his excellent reputation. Sergio's team is very skilled and professional and Sergio is a gentleman to work with. They did a lot of work for their money. A team of painters and carpenters spent many days doing meticulous work with very professional results. Sergio was always very solicitous of what I wanted, and very patient and cooperative. He was careful about ensuring that all work was done. I have received compliments from impressed neighbors and other visitors to my home on the beautiful job that was done. I paid Sergio a little extra on completion to show my appreciation. I will be using Sergio's services again for interior painting and carpentry work.

I just bought the house 6 months ago (my first house) and have had to hire several people to do various things around the house. Sergio was by far the most professional person I have worked with. He initially came to look at the issue and give me an estimate. After I signed on, he brought his tile master, who only speaks Portuguese, to translate his instructions. Everything was done while I was at work, and he cleaned up after himself every day so there was no intrusion into my normal life. The bathroom looks like new, and Sergio has personally come by to make sure everything looks perfect. I would absolutely use him again and recommend him to others.

Sergio did great work. The porch was not only repaired as I asked, but he took it upon himself to replace the first step which he judged to be starting to rot as well. The back door had to be cut down from a standard door part, and is well fit into place now. The touch I most appreciate is how the wiring of the vents was made such that it is not really visible unless you're staring up into the vents. All that remains is to arrange payment, which I wish Sergio was more formal about (we have nothing on paper).

It went really well. In fact, can a contractor go onto the ''Page of Happiness'' twice? Sergio is absolutely the best contractor I have ever had in terms of sticking to the price, sticking to the time line and quality of work. Sergio first came over and gave me an estimate that was $1,500 less than another contractor. When I decided to hire him, he again came over to answer some additional questions. He said they could finish the job in 3-4 days and, best of all, he assured me that I could use the toilet every night so that I wouldn't have to move out during that time. John, the tiler, worked 12 hour days and even longer one night so that he could get the toilet back in and working. He was truly amazing and worked non-stop! Additionally Sergio was totally available by phone on all three days. This was especially helpful to me since I do get very anxious when renovations are being done in my condo. Sergio always answered my questions and explained everything.

Sergio came on Monday to give an estimate and started the job on Wednesday. They took out the old ceiling, put in the new one, taped and mudded the joint. Regrouted all of the tile and tried to regrout the floor as a bonus. The floor grouting didn't take, but it was a nice gesture. They cleaned up and came back on Friday to paint after the joint compound was dry. They patched some holes in the wall for me and they didn't damage the paint on the wall near the ceiling. I only needed to do a tiny bit of touch-up painting along the edge, and only on 2 of the 3 walls. Excellent service. I needed someone right away and they were here when I needed them and for a very good price. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Sergio demonstrated a clear knowledge of the business and clearly articulated the scope. He gave me an estimate for entire job and they started on time. I gave them a key to get in and out, and the key was returned to me at the end of the job. They kept the place very clean and overall quality of the job was excellent. Sergio was very interested in being sure that I was satisfied and even dumped the trash before I paid him (his men forgot to do that). I would highly recommend him and use him again.

Sergio's crew did a fantastic job. He was a little tough to get in touch with in the beginning but that's because they're so busy/good. (the trick is to call twice in a row real quick and he'll call back) The crew came on time, did beautiful work, and the cost was lower than what I had expected. The problem is fixed and you wouldn't know there ever was one. I'd call him back in a second for any other type of plumbing, plastering, drywall, or painting.

Sergio was a pleasure to work with. He convinced me to tile instead of putting vinyl back down, pointed me to inexpensive tile to keep in my budget. He and his worker showed up on time; the guy did it all in one day (worked until 8:30pm), so we could have a bathroom that night! They did a nice job, I would recommend him and use him again. I didn't get other estimates because 1) he has a good reputation on this list and 2) I wanted to get it done relatively quickly and he fit me in to his schedule in one week. In the ratings below, I put A for price because it all went well and that is worth the money, although I was tempted to put N/A for price since I really didn't have anything to compare to. He can be tough to get a hold of sometimes as his voice mail is always full or something, but he is very responsive when you talk to him. I would definitely use him again.

Sergio is an exemplary professional. He always returned calls promptly, and came exactly when he said he would. He was very polite and pleasant to work with throughout. He made useful suggestions, and explained exactly what he was going to do (steel girders, plastic water barrier, etc.). Most importantly, he did the work within a week. Another company had been stringing me along all summer, knowing that I had a deadline for the new tenants. I called several companies when the first one stopped returning my calls altogether. Sergio understood that I was by that time extremely anxious, and took me on. He managed to secure the cement delivery right away, and squeezed me into his schedule. The job was done on time. Finally, there was a low branch blocking access to the driveway for the cement truck. I really wanted to save it, and his crew cheerfully climbed the tree, and secured the branch with a rope. Good clean-up. Excellent experience.

Over all my experience was very good. The job was difficult because I wanted all my appliances and my sink saved. The contractor had each set of workmen come in one day after the other. 1st the painters, then the tile layers, then the counter people, followed by the cabinet makers and the painters again. Whenever I was not pleased with something, he immediately sent men back to fix it. He was very agreeable to everything I wanted done. I also felt he gave me a very good price. He employed men who did not speak English so I couldn't communicate with them when he wasn't here. We had planned to keep the backsplash that I already had but they realized when removing the counter, the backsplash came out with it. Only call him for an estimate if you are really serious about having work done & book well in advance as he is very busy.
