M W Burns did not perform the service, another electrician diagnosed the problem and fixed it for $80.

Marty Burns came with a high recommendation from a relative who owns property in my area. I had several issues that needed to be fixed. I put many of them off because, although they were needed, they did not pose any danger. That is, until I found a light switch that seemed to have a loose wire and I was unable to turn on my basement light unless I pressed on the panel of one of the switches. So, I made the call and a woman answered the phone. She was very polite. I wasn't really able to give her much information about what I needed because when I asked if he could come out on a Saturday or early evening (around 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.) just for an estimate, she told me he doesn't work on weekends and doesn't work after 3 p.m. I explained this wasn't to work, it was simply to look at the work I wanted done - it would probably take no more than a half hour of his time at the most. She again said he only gives estimates between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as well. Since I work full-time and would have to take time off from work just to get an estimate (not to mention the actual work), I decided I couldn't use him. I ended up hiring another electrical contractor I got from Angie's List who has done work for me more than once since then and I will be using him again in the Spring (2012).

VERY unethical and untrustworthy. When I got the bill, it was for about twice the verbal estimate Martin gave me. He gouged me for materials based on the amount he used, charging for 1,200 feet of wiring when only 217 feet was used (I measured it all) and charged me $200 for the 1,200 foot roll when the same wire was $42 at home depot. His explanation was that he had to open a new roll to do the job so i had to pay for all 1,200' although he used 217' (funny he didnt let me keep the unused portion I paid for). Then among the hours billed, he charged me for 3 hours labor to connect 9 electrical wall outlets to pre- existing wiring. Thats 20 minutes per outlook to connect each to two wires!!! When I tried it myself (I'm not an electrician), I did an outlet in 2.5 minutes per outlet, and I took my time doing it. He was charging me 10 times the amount of time it took me. When I confronted him he became arrogant threatening to take me to small claims court. It was only after I measured and photographed everything to make my case in front of a judge he offered to drop the fee to $2,200. Beware. Not a good guy. I'm just writing this now as I just recently joined Angie's list as a member

They always respond really quickly and get the job done well. For larger jobs Marty Burns has come in himself and prepared a quote in advance, which they've always been within.

Generally I like these guys. They explained that I would save a lot of money if I dug the old wire out and covered the trench afterwards. They did it for cheap. I had wanted to put in a pipe underground so that I wouldn't have to dig up the trench if anything happened, but they said that their outdoor wire would essentially last forever and that a pipe wasn't needed. I still wish they had put in a pipe, just for peace of mind. But otherwise, I'm happy and would use them again.

Arrived on time and finished job in less than an hour.

It was very good. They were very fast and efficient. I dealt directly with the owner who gave me an estimate. I asked for an estimate of a number of circuits I wanted, which was more than I was willing to pay, so I asked him to reduce the amount of work and the price ended up being lower than I had expected. They were professional and polite.
