We approached Giuseppe about building new support systems for a backyard deck that juts out over a severely sloping hill. There were beginning signs of strain on the old footings. He proposed a solution involving larger elephant footings, heavier support columns and joists and a cabling system anchoring the supports into the foundation. The local building inspector required architects plans, so Giuseppe worked through that whole process with that professional, got the building permit approved, was excellent in his follow through and ultimately brought his crew in to do the work. I was totally impressed by the way the job was performed under some very challenging circumstances due to the terrain. I found his crew responsive, professional and hard working. Giuseppe kept in good contact with me throughout, which was helpful given the involvement of the architect. I am convinced this deck (15' x75') is solid and will remain so.

I used the email form on angieslist to contact the vendor. Giuseppe called me within a few days to discuss the project. It's a very small project and he esimated by phone that it would cost 275-350. I asked his schedule and he said he would have time to do it the following week. I indicated that if he had time earlier that I would be happy to have him come then, my schedule is very flexible. He said he might, but in either case he would call by friday to arrange a particular day. Giuseppe never called again. I called once more and emailed him once more with no reponse two weeks after he said he would call. I know that even with the best contractors things get lost in the shuffle, but I just got the feeling talking to him that this type of situation might happen more than normal given the vague timeline he provided and estimate over the phone. I'd avoid using this contractor, he wasted my time.

My husband found Guisseppi (Joe) in the phone book and he came out and looked at our steps and later mailed us a written estimate and told us up front that if we decided to work with him it would be a 10 waiting period, he gave a specific date when he could start and honored it. We got other estimates that ranged all over the place but GRD estimate was the most complete for the price which was very fair. I joined Angie's list and checked out Guisseppi's company (GRD construction) and discovered that he had a good rating although not that many reviews. We took a risk and it paid off. It was a pleasure working with Guisseppi, he showed up on time each morning and worked throughout the three days that it took to complete the job. He communicated with us what he was doing all along the way. He basically rebuilt our entire front steps, and they are beautiful. He cleaned up after he was done and took all trash away. I highly recommend this company and would use them again without hesitation.

This was not an emergency but it was an attempt to stabilize a very large deck that was against a large drop off. Was very labor intensive. We needed to involve a structural engineer, which GRD did a very good job working with. What had been an original estimate became significantly higher once the engineer did his appraisal. But I found GRD to be professional.

The guy did a good job. He showed up on time. He finished on time. He's reliable and does a clean job. He keeps his word which is important in hiring contractors. He is an honest guy. He's responsive to requests. He addresses whatever issues one brings up. He takes the time to talk with them which is a good thing. His price was lower than everybody else. I would use him again in the future.

The experience was absolutely spectacular. There were a lot of problems to be solved, and this guy amazed me with the knowledge of his business and his ability to come up with good solutions for the project. He knew what I needed, and in many ways knew it better than I did myself. He offered up these solutions and went with what I chose. His price was the best of all the estimates that I got.
