Over the course of the project which took more than six months on various occassions he stopped work at my home and worked elsewhere - prior to hiring him I asked if he would work through until completion and be on sight everyday. I was told that he would finish the work and that I he would be on site every day. He was not on site when work was being performed by the people he had hired for painting and other work. He was responsive to my requests for additonal work or changes but on many occassions I had to ask him to finish one job before moving on to the next job or ask him more than once to make changes. He eventually paritally completed the work for which he was hired and paid last fall. However, he left wood working debris, empty paint cans and other trash in the backyard along with two of his ladders. This mess had to be cleaned up and removed by myself in early spring. He used my garage as a staging area for his tools and remodeling materials. Scraps of wood, other carpentry trash, approximately 8 partially used or empty paint cans, plaster board, a ladder, an used interior door and other trash have never been removed. An unused lally column is still in the basement after he was asked at least three times to remove it. Along with the ladders and trash behind the garage is an unused ceiling beam which the local builing inspector found insufficient to replace the removed bearing wall. An end piece of baseboard forced water heating remains uncapped and unsightly - he was advised of this obvious as well as other unfinished jobs and promised to cap the base board numerous times - he has not. In one bathroom a threshold was removed and never replaced. It was likely removed and thrown in the trash by one of his employees and remains missing. Some baseboard woodwork remains unpainted even after the last of the floor sanding was finished in February 2011. The last time I heard from GF construction was last February when he requested and received a partial payment for work that he had actually completed. I have not heard from him since then although he is fully aware of what work is incomplete and that he left trash in the backyard and garage and left cleanup unfiinshed. I have found him unreliable, unresponsive to requests to finish projects unless I instructed him to do so more than a few times. I have recently discouraged a co worker from hiring for a ceramic tile job due to my experience with his work ethic. The only positive thing I can say is that the tile work appears to be well done and I am pleased with how it looks and I was pleased with some of his suggestions on improvements nothwithstanding the fact that the improvements added to the cost of the remodeling project. I would not recommend GF Construction to any home owner seeking remodeling work or any other work. Hire GF Construction at your own risk..
Description of Work: GF Construction was hired to remodel two bathrooms, remove a wall between a kitchen and dining room, paint 7 rooms and replace two exterior and 8 interior doors and other miscellaneous repairs in June 2010; he eventually completed most jobs last fall. I last had contact with him in February 2011.
