Description of Work: I sent a check to Carl Brooks and he cashed it in 9/3/10 but never fixed my chimmney or called me back. I had to hire another contractor to fix the chimmney for $1,200. in november. When I get back from my deployment I might take him to small claims court. - SK2 Johnson

Description of Work: purchased new property and needed a chimney cleaned. They were punctual, honest and reasonably priced. We discussed venting two new furnaces to the chimney and they recommended that the chimney may be too small and hence rather then wasting money I went with a direct vent very chimney vented furnace.

Description of Work: Carl came to my house and inspected in February, 2008. I was informed by an electrician that there was a hole in my chimney. Please note that the house is about 100 years old and I assume it was the original chimney when the house was built. He went into the crawl space and showed my, via camera picture, the work that needed to be done. He gave me two choices one with a new mental chimney, and the other with bricks which of course would be more expensive. Since it is a two chimney house I wanted the outside of the house to match. He explained that he could not start the work installing the new chimney until spring. He did not send the estimate promptly he explained he had been ill. The price was in range with what I had expected. His references were quite good and I must say, that the work, although I can't get up on the roof, looks great. He even repaired a front step for me and explained why it continued to crack in the winter months. I guess I chose him because on my first encounter he was late for our appointment, but wonder of wonder's he actually called and apologized. He explained when he arrived why he was late. (emergency call). I guess time will tell if the installation of the new chimney will last, but I will tell you there was no trash left around my house. No talk about you need to do this right now, he explained that it would fall without repair, but you have time.

Description of Work: He cleaned out my chimney.

Description of Work: Simple cleaning of chimney in an older house (85 years old). He will be returning to inspect and replace the chimney 'cap'.
