The whole experience was great start to finish. He returned my call the same day to schedule an estimate. He was on time for the estimate. When we decide to use his service he booked us for an appointment about 2 weeks away. He was on time for everything, returned all phone calls promptly and did all the work that we wanted done. All in a very professional manner.

Trumbull came on a Saturday to quote out the work and about tree weeks later he scheduled me in (me having about a one week lag). I got three other quotes and they were all higher and less attentive to whether or not they would kill the tree. Trumbull comes to your house with his crew, gets setup and they do the work without you being there! I left home with tree not cut returning to find exactly what I expected! Our backyard is enjoying the sun as are we!

Barrett was very punctual when he arrived to give us our estimate. Overall it seemed like a good price, but we had no frame of reference. We got a second opinion and Barrett Tree Service beat that company's estimate by several hundred dollars. He also removed all the chipped tree debris, a service that the other company did not offer. The day of the job, the crew was supposed to arrive in early afternoon but ended up arriving at 3 pm. Other than the slight delay, everything else went smoothly and efficiently. Trumbull and his crew were very careful not to get any debris or put any equipment in our neighbor's yard. The whole job was done in less than 3 hours, and they even threw in moving our neighbor's stump for an extra $50.

Trumbull was very punctual and professional from start to finish. Showed up on time with good equipment to get the job done properly and safely. Crewed stayed late into the day to finish the job and clean up properly- maybe a bit longer than first anticipated, which was appreciated. Cut down a few extra branches that I requested after the initial estimate with no problem. Even gives a 5% Angie's List discount. Can't say enough good stuff. We have a Tree Guy!

Fantastic experience. They kept me informed via email the whole way -- we were delayed waiting for the power company to protect the lines and they let me know what was going on so I didn't have to guess. They took care of dealing with NSTAR and also the Newton Police, who were needed to direct traffic while the work was being done. In the morning I met the crew of four individually on my way out the door. When I got home from work it was hard to see where the trees had been and there were only a few sprinklings of sawdust to indicate that any work had been done. Incredible. And they had the lowest bid.

Trumbull was great to work with from start to finish. He is very knowledgeable (e.g., suggesting that we add cables to a healthy tree to prevent future limb failure), and his estimate was a bit below his competitor. After I received the estimate, I emailed a list of questions and requests (e.g., what impact will this have on the neighbors, can you split the work into multiple invoices, could you fax proof of insurance), and he dealt with each item quickly and thoroughly. He and his crew showed up on time to do the work, they didn't hurt the neighbors' flowerbed, and they did a great job cleaning up.

When we read about Barrett's Tree Service East in the Angie's List magazine Pages of Happiness, we were hopeful that we had finally located a tree service that would meet our needs. The huge tree we needed to remove was in a difficult location in the back corner of my yard, and would involve using neighbors' property for access. We contacted owner Trumball Barrett. He returned our call/email promptly and we scheduled a time to have him look at the trees in the yard and bid on work which needed to be done. He arrived as scheduled and as we reviewed the proposed tree work, we found him to be communicative and knowledgeable regarding both the trees and the equipment needed, and able to explain to the neighbors what would be needed. His bid was very fair, and we were happy to select his proposal from the six we had gathered by that point. He was able to give us a tentative date for the removal, two-three weeks from his initial visit, and kept us posted to confirm it. The day of the removal arrived, and Trumball and his crew arrived as scheduled and set up the crane in the neighbor's yard, and a smaller bucket truck in our yard. We were impressed by the skill and teamwork of the whole crew, since there was a lot of careful craning that had to be done between two houses. They also had to back the bucket truck into our driveway, and successfully did so with only an inch or so to spare on either side! During each break, Trumball kept us informed as to the progress, and the whole crew was efficient and courteous, and cleaned up both our yard and the neighbors' yards well. Although we knew that the tree was approaching the end of its life and had to be removed, we were unexpectedly unnerved by the large empty space in the corner of the yard, but Trumball was reassuring and even willing to carefully cut a couple of slices of the trunk so that we could keep a memento of the tree in our yard. Barrett's Tree Service East made the whole experience manageable for us and I would highly recommend them.

Trumbull and his crew did a wonderful job! The team is very professional and knowledgeable. The old tree was removed and ground down without remnants. The crew cleaned up the yard without damage. The new tree looks great. The total price including the new tree was under budget. We definitely would recommend and reuse Barrett Tree Service again.

I found Trumbull's company on Angie's list and brought him in for an estimate. Trumbull arrived on time, was friendly and professional, and even gave me some ideas as I walked him through the job. He gave me an estimate right on the spot and he had the best price of all of the quotes I'd received, so we scheduled a time for the job (he even factored in the Angie's List discount without me asking). He was scheduling about two weeks out, which was fine for my purposes. I was a little concerned that my job would get bumped out due to a snow storm and a lot of rainy weather over the next two weeks, but Trumbull and his team showed up right on time on the appointed day. The job itself went fine and by 4:30 PM Trumbull and his men were finished. There was nothing left but piles of wood chips. I wrote him a check and that was that.

Our experience was excellent. The work was for a very small two building, six unit condo association. We obtained four bids for the work. Two were unbelievable and didn't get a second glance. Barrett's was the higher of the remaining two. We chose Barrett both for the equipment (bucket truck) and a very positive impression when Trumbull came to look at the site. We were not disappointed. They came, did the job, and cleaned up without any problems or damage to surrounding landscaping.

Trumbull and his team were great. I called Trumbull in mid-January and left a message. He quickly responded and let me know he'd be on vacation for a few weeks but we scheduled a date for him to come out and review the job once he returned. The walk-through was easy and he took several notes. He wasn't sure when he could do the job but indicated that he could tell me as soon as he checked his schedule. I had somewhat of a time constraint, but he was actually able to fit us in at the very beginning of February. The day that the work was scheduled, Trumbull and his team showed up right on time and got to work. They had to put in some time clearing snow and ice and opening a tricky fence gate, but once that was done the work went smoothly and quickly. The team took care to move furniture out of the way and they did a wonderful job cleaning up once they were done. Everyone was friendly and professional and I'll definitely be calling them back when we need to do more tree work.

We contacted Trumbull and he came out promptly on a Saturday to give us an estimate, which he explained to us thoroughly, walking us around the property and giving us a number of options(stump grinding vs. no grinding, removing large bushes at the same time, etc.)and we contracted with him to remove three large trees from our yard. His team arrived on time on one of the coldest days of the year to do the work, the first day removing a huge oak tree which hung over a busy street, and was entangled in a number of power lines. The team was careful and meticulous, and did the work expertly. The second day they removed two incredibly unhealthy trees overhanging our house with ease, and ground down these stumps. They also chipped extra logs and brush we had from fall yard work. They cleaned up sawdust well, despite all the snow on the ground, and there was no damage at all to our yard or holly bushes that they had to transport the logs over. Overall, a tough job with tough access on two of the coldest days of the year, and we are incredibly happy with the work. We plan to have Trumbull come back in the summer to help us prune and remove some additional trees.

Trumball is terrific. He was punctual, friendly, knowledgeable & professional A real no-nonsense guy. He provided his quote within 24 hours of the initial visit. We booked him right away and due to his in-demand status, we waited a few weeks, and that was fine. On the day of commitment, he and his crew showed up exactly on time, completed the work and left the yard in great shape. I would use him again anytime, and can recommend him and his company without hesitation.

Our condo assn. hired Barrett Tree Service to cut back 2 mulberry trees and a magnolia tree. The mulberry trees were overhanging our porch and depositing sticky berries on the porch which were damaging the paint, and one was overhanging the sidewalk low enough that we had to cut branches off in the summer so that passersbys wouldn't have to duck out of the way. They pruned the tree of excess growth and removed the branches that overhung the porch and the lower branches that overhung the sidewalk. They pruned a magnolia tree that had branches too close to our house. They left everything neat and clean. Trumbull Barrett came over promptly after I called him to give me an estimate and was cooperative about scheduling at a time convenient to me. He called a day in advance to remind me of the time he intended to arrive. He was friendly, personable and professional.

They first came out, looked over the yard and advised us that some of our diseased trees were getting dangerous. They cut down our diseased trees. They pruned our healthy trees and gave us advise as to what we can do to keep them healthy. They were friendly and careful not to damage our other plants. They cleaned up after themselves after they were finished. I recommend them with no reservations whatsoever.

Trumbull Barrett and his crew came out to do some routine tree pruning. He was extremely easy to deal with, very punctual and professional, and a nice person all around. He explained exactly what he thought we needed done, and why, and explained why he didn't think that some of the things we thought might need to be done actually did need to be done. It was fascinating to watch him and his small crew at work.

They came to see the tree and recommended to cut it since it was very stressed and was not likely to recovered. They gave us the estimate and we set a date for them to come and cut the tree. They came while we were working and when we arrived home, the job was done and everything was clean. They did an excellent job. They call that night to make sure we were happy with their job. And we definitely were!!!

I can't recall any prior dealings with a contractor who is more of a consummate professional than Trumball Barrett. He responded in a timely way to my request for an estimate; showed up exactly when he said he would and assessed my project in an unrushed, informative manner; promptly and patiently responded to questions that arose between the time of the scheduling and the actual work; and cheerfully and calmly dealt with limitations to yard access that presented themselves at the last minute. He and his crew did a meticulous job of clearing away debris. Though the price was somewhat high, I'd rather pay more than incur some of the errors and stress I've experienced with prior tree services. It was a pleasure doing business with Trumball; his high ratings and accolades on Angie's List are well deserved.

We found him very knowledgeable and it was a pleasure working with him and his crew. Once we set up an work day, his crew showed up right on time and worked very efficiently. They also cleaned up and hauled everything away. We'd hire them again, probably to yank out the nasty Norway maple trees completely.
