They show up every March to prune various trees and bushes. They arrive on time and clean up all debris. They are very courteous .They showed up on time. Arranged for a police detail and had the high wire sleeved beforehand. Removed the tree and disposed of all the branches, trunk etc. They ground the stump 6 inches into the ground and covered with dirt. Highly recommend this company for all tree work and pruning.
Description of Work: I have used this company for several years. They trim various bushes and trees on my property and have planted a tree. They have responded promptly when I have had concerns regarding various trees, bushes etc. I highly recommend them. I once again called them to remove a very large tree from the front of my house. They did an excellent job.

An 20' diameter Silver Maple branch was twisted off by Hurricane Sandy; it landed on the shed, with huge branches on the house and up against plate glass windows. Mr. Barrett was there first thing the next day, and was very personable. He provided a reasonable quote, and my in-laws took it. The crew showed up within 45 minutes and in tight quarters (urban neighborhood) on a hill side, they removed the massive tree branch and its standing trunk. The crew worked efficiently, displaying expertise as arborists, engineers, large equipment operators, and rock climbers, and yes they were personable and professional! I would hire them in a heartbeat.

They were prompt, honest, and courteous. They removed a dead 40 foot tree from inside a forrested area. They removed a 7" diameter dead branch from 50 feet off the ground with no apparent harm to any of the landscape. With the pestisides, they recomended a basic application for my hemlock, although their knowledge of tree diseases was in the middle of the three contractors I got quotes from. (They failed to mention the winter moths on one tree, and admitted limited knowledge of Kousa Dogwood.). They showed up on time to apply the pesticide and did the work as expected.
Description of Work: I hired Barret for both storm damage removal of high dead branches and for pesticide treatment of living Hemlock and Chinaberry trees.

Excellent experience from start to finish. I met with Trumbull to discuss the work initially, and he was polite and communicative throughout the process. The work was done on time, and when the crew was done the site was remarkably clean, with little sign they had been there except for the missing tree! A very positive experience.
Description of Work: Barrett removed a dying black cherry tree from our front yard and then ground the stump.

An inspector from the Boston Inspectional Services Department (ISD) was doing work on adjacent property and noticed that in my mother?s yard there was a tree resting on phone/cable lines. He cited her and thus began my search for a tree service company who had crane service, was bonded and insured and would charge me at reasonable cost to do the work. Naturally, my first line of defense was Angie?s List. I located and reviewed nine (9) businesses and Barrett Tree Service East, Inc. was my (and my mother?s) company of choice. Mr. Barrett went out to inspect the tree and spoke to my mother at length. He was courteous and informative. ISD had taken photos which I then sent to Mr. Barrett. The appointment was scheduled for October 4th. The workmen arrived promptly and were professional. ISD checked in later that afternoon and declared that the work had been done perfectly.

The crew was on time, walked the property with me to confirm the contract, completed the work, and cleaned up. They did a really great job across the board and exceeded expectations. The oak trees have been returned to a state of beauty and Trumbull was right on the mark in terms of identifying what needed to be done.

I got same day responses to my initial email inquiry sent through Angie's list and followup questions via email. Based on our required time frame and services needed, they gave me an alternative solution that met our needs. We are definitely going to contact them when we have need of future tree work.

Barrett came quickly after I called to assess the tree and provide an estimate for the services. I was concerned that the big beautiful tree would need to come down to protect my house, but Barrett assessed the health, cleaned up the tree, stabilized the upper trunks, and saved it for the neighborhood, my enjoyment, shading my house, and providing habitat for birds and other critters for many years to come. The team was prompt, efficient, and hardly left a trace on the ground of their presence.
Description of Work: The Barrett team treated for winter moth caterpillars in an earlier visit, and returned to trim lower branches, clear dead branches and reduce volume in the canopy, and cable the two upper trunks to prevent splitting at the main trunk in a huge maple in my front yard.

We're always happy when we can preserve a tree rather than remove it, we're happy this property owner is willing to do the maintenance required to keep the tree as safe as possible. We look forward to treating the tree over the upcoming years.

I had a great experience. Although they seem to be very busy, they responded promptly to my inquiries and gave accurate predictions of when they would be able to provide an estimate and service my house. They arrived for the job on time and were professional and careful in their work. They had to work in a tight corner and avoid electric lines running from the house and did a great job. They cleared all the branches that were cut from the trees and left my deck and patio cleaner than they found them.

Fabulous. Start to finish. Ken Greeno came out for the estimate. A very nice, professional and knowledgable arborist. We had asked for a lot of work so it took a few days for the emailed estimate, but it was spot on. I had only successfully received one other estimate and he was actually a lot cheaper but wasn't super keen on tackling the rhodedendrons and I later found out he wasn't insured with workers comp, but did have liability insurance. After calling the MA department of industrial accidents to find out if I am liable for workers comp if he gets hurt, (short answer is probably yes), I decided to go with Barrett. So, although the other guy was cheaper on face value, I feel like I made the right choice for reasons I will get to. They did everything right and were super polite. I won't reiterate all the stuff I just gave them A's on, but will add this. They didn't nickle and dime me for anything. I feel like I got so much more by going with them. They were there to make my yard and house look better. Sometimes when you take down vegetation you see others that didn't necessarily show up in the estimate but would not look so great if left in place. They actually wanted feedback at the end of each day to see if eveything was to my liking. Terry was the arborist who ran the show on the two days they were on our property. He was lovely, polite, easy going and about as easy as possible to work with. A true pleasure. In the lead up to the days of work, I spoke with Trumbull, Ken, Jen Contrada (admin person in the office) and all were knowledgable and great. To give examples of how easy going they were.... I had my property surveyed and staked but only after the estimate came in. I found out I had two more scrubby and large trees on my property that were threatening my garage. (I thought they were my neighbors). They agreed to add them out, just like that for a minimal charge more ($400). These were not small trees and I am told they took them out with the crane. VERY good price I think. Also, they took an extra limb down from a neighbors tree that was dead and overhanging our property that we didn't see until we had cleared the woodlins in the back. They also took away dead tree limbs that the neighbors had piled on our rock wall between our two properties. We never noticed before due to all the overgrown vegetation. (They even took away a pile of dirt/vegetation that I didn't know what to do with. I think it was an old composting thing but I really don't know.) They did wonders on the rhodedendrons and the vegetation between my house and the house next store too. The clean up was impeccable. In the front area, it was hard to figure out where the stumps of the trees (3) that they took down even were!! All five gentleman who came to work on the first day introduced themselves and shook my hand. While politeness isn't absolutely necessary, it sure is nice... Clearly, this company is a class act. I would highly recommend them. The one caveat... they are busy and it took me 3 weeks to schedule this. So, plan ahead--it is worth the wait. Also, they are fully insured which is a good question to ask if you get a quote that is super low from someone else. You want to hear they have both liability and workers comp. I suspect Barrett doesn't charge for every little thing because they have all the business they need. That means very good value for their clients and very good business for them. Nice work Trumbell Barrett and team! I couldn't be happier!
Description of Work: We have a .3 acre lot that was largely wooded in the back. We wanted to reclaim for lawn so our kids can play. The previous owners seemed to like the au naturale woodsy look. We had 7 rather sizable trees taken down (and two of them intertwined, one dead that were at least 4 stories tall.) Those two required a crane to remove. It abutted our free standing garage. We had a lot of saplings left to grow freely in the back removed. At least 12. Some had trunks as large as 10"--maybe more. We had some Rhodendrons that were enormous and out of control as well as some free growing vegetation fighting their way throw the rhodoendrons. We also had some front bushes that were in desperate need of trimming. For those of you who are horrified by this tree carnage, let me explain. We are not tree haters, but the house was starting to Mildew because it didn't see the sun and so we trimmed some remaining trees back including a huge and beautiful red maple. The canopy was thinnned. In short, we had a ton done. The estimate was a full two pages long. The work took two full days and 5 guys plus Trumbell with the crane.

The crew arrived on-time, the team leader (professional and courteous) introduced himself and the crew to me and got underway. The crew was well-organized and operated with precision teamwork, all the time being very careful not to damage anything in the yard. They removed the entire tree within 90 minutes (much quicker than I expected) and did an excellent job with post-clean up. Everything went the way they're supposed to go when you hire someone to do a job. Overall, I would say this experience was "outstanding."
Description of Work: I needed to have a decaying tree removed from my back yard. Barretts was very responsive in having an arborist come out to my premises to examine the tree. He was both personable and professional and clearly communicated to me what he was going to do and what he was finding. I received his professional evaluation and firm quote for the work to be performed quickly. The quote was very competitive, so I had the job scheduled (easy to do).

Trumbull Barrett was on time, walked the property and gave very good recommendations. He was prompt in all communications and provided detailed estimate over the email the day after the visit. Price for the job was the lowest of 3 estimates I received from other companies. Scheduling the job was also not a problem but for tree removal need to wait 4 weeks because they are very busy.

They were good and comfortable. They were very efficient and very clean. They did everything that they said they would do. There was just a delay between the estimate and the execution of the actual work. It was like 8 weeks but it’s fine with me because they called to inform me. That happened after a snow storm so maybe it’s difficult for them to come out.

Trumbull's team arrived on a very rainy afternoon. It was that constant sheet or water falling on your head kind of rain. They checked in with me, said Trumbull would be along soon, and grabbed their lunch. Work started pretty soon after lunch. I was not sure exactly what tree we agreed on and it turned out that I added trees that day. Trumbull had no issues with this which was great. I would have been okay if they could not do the additional items as well so I would not plan on changing the scope of work on them. There was a crane involved in my driveway lifting trees over the house. This project had the involvement of 2 different crazy neighbors and Trumbull handled it in stride. They spent about 5-6 hours cutting these pieces down and dragging them to the chipper from all sides of my yard. They raked the yard cleaning up 99% of the debris which was great. Trumbull and team and the most professional contractors I have ever hired. It is nice to see that there are people that take pride in their work, work hard, and have a lot of knowledge about what they do. I will call them again whenever I need service.
Description of Work: Trumbull came within a few days and provided a bid. he made me aware that he was booked about 5 weeks out. This was no problem for me. It turned out it took longer to handle because I have some really crazy neighbors. The result was that I had about 9 small tree removed, some were damaged, so were just unhealthy. Stump grinding for a set of about 3 trees. I also had a tree that had fallen cut into small pieces to be split.

The crew did an excellent job. We are on a one-way heavily traveled street, with lots of cars parked. They did a superb job maneuvering their trucks and equipment. They were careful, especially with the tree removed, which was tangled in the utility wires. They cleaned up after themselves, and you'd never even know they were here.

Trumbull is great. he came to my home and met with me hes down to earth and listens to you. He also gave me tips on how to ask my neighbor if i could trim their tree branches coming over to my property. I got a reasonable price for the job, which was cutting down a big tree that was close to my house. I didnt get the stump grinded bc it had grown into a fence and I also had multiple big branches cut off from my neighbors tree that was invading my space. The day of the project i wasnt home i got home as they were finishing up and i was so happy to see that tree gone it just changed the look of my property for the good. I will be using this tree service again.

We had a tree branch come down, and were shopping for estimates. Bartlett gave us estimates for the branch, the branch plus pruning, and then for pruning the other side of the house, and said they'd be happy to do whatever we needed. They were 100% fine with just the branch coming down, and did not try to push extra service on us. Their quote was far and away the best we got. They came on time and did a very professional job.
