I truly cannot express how AMAZING Carlos and his crew is and wish that I’d met him two years ago. We were at the tail end of a major renovation that we’d started with another contractor and it was full of all the horror stores that you’d expect; people not showing up, shoddy work, constant delays and more. We’d spoken with a bunch of other builders and had similar results; we were at our wits end and truly wished we’d never started this project that we’d long dreamed of doing. After reading Carlos’ reviews, I called him, resigned to the fact that this would be another frustrating dead-end and explained the status of our project; he came out the next day and sent two crews of carpenters the day after that. In four days, Carlos did what our previous contractor hadn’t been able to do in fourteen months! He fixed a ton of poorly done work (including a set of winding oak stairs- no small feat!) and finished our project in ways we could not have imagined a week ago. Literally every day, my wife and I would say to ourselves, “is this really happening?!” Our house looks amazing, the craftsmanship is incredible and we couldn’t be happier. All of his carpenters are excellent to work with, communicate their ideas clearly, and are extremely clean. They offered ideas as to best use the space without adding to the budget and even fixed things I hadn’t noticed were installed wrong by the previous contractor. They showed up on time, did their jobs well and I truly cannot thank them enough. Thank you Marceil, Marcellino and everyone else at Alcantara! I will literally never hire anyone but Carlos for any building needs and have already referred him to three friends that are looking to do projects ranging from building decks to large interior renovations. Carlos, you’re a lifesaver!

I hired Carlos and his team to reconstruct my front porch and replace some rotten fascia and trim around my roof. Carlos comes with a wealth of experience and was able to accurately estimate the job. He was respectful of my budget and worked with me to accommodate my needs. He was easy to communicate with, extremely punctual with everything I needed on my end, and kept a close eye on the job until it was complete. His team was meticulous and thorough, and the craftsmanship of their work was outstanding. They were also sure to leave my house clean and organized each night when they left, which was very appreciated. I'm very happy with the work that was done and will definitely hire Carlos and his team again for any future work I need.

We needed to have a rapid turnaround for third floor patch and painting job before carpet installation. Carlos provided a quote on Saturday and was able to start the job on Monday. The quality of his team's work was excellent; they were prompt, efficient and professional. We were very pleased with the results and would definitely consider hiring again.

I have used Alcantara Contracting twice now, once for some minor bathroom work and recently for kitchen cabinet painting and carpentry (shelving and window sills). Carlos was quick to return my message and to stop by to assess the job and to get me a quote. His team was very professional and a pleasure to work with. They managed to keep everything neat too despite the tight workspace, and they finished the job quickly. Carlos is very kind and conscientious and takes great care with ensuring all goes smoothly, even with the smallest of jobs. I would certainly use Alcantara Contracting again.

I own a condo in East Boston and it needed some serious re-work to the exterior brick wall to maintain a strong structure. I was referred to Carlos, the owner of Alcantara Contractors, by a family member who has used his services in the past and needless to say he did not disappoint! Carlos quickly responded when we reached out and within the week he had a quote back to us for the job. The re-work was comprehensive and we received quotes from other contractors that were much more expensive and had a much longer project timeline so moving forward with Carlos was an easy decision. The project took about 4-5 weeks from start to finish and the end result was spectacular. Carlos & his team were great, extremely friendly and knowledgeable, on-time, and they clearly hold themselves to a higher standard then other contractors that I've worked with in the past. Carlos takes serious pride in his work and you can quickly tell that he's a "quality-driven" contractor that pays close attention to detail in any job (big or small) that he performs. Excellent job!! From start to finish!! Carlos was one of three quotes I received and quickly called me to check in on the quote. He worked with me on costs. Carlos and his team came quickly to my condo (that I rent out) to assess and repair damages after it got flooded. Parts of walls needed replacement, insulation needed to be checked and fixed, baseboards, floor needed to be pulled up and replaced, cabinets (including the sink and stove and fridge) and granite counters needed to be pulled out from wall to check for water damage behind walls, and then put back, walls needed to be painted. The team worked quickly and professionally, and was always polite and courteous. They were understanding that the condo was a rental and I was losing income while it was not livable, and they worked quickly to make all the needed repairs. I had the chance to hire Carlos and his team again when I needed more painting and wall repair done, and they returned quickly once again, did another excellent job, and also worked within my budget. I never experienced damages like this to my property, and didn't know who to turn to. I am so happy to have found Carlos, Alex and the rest of the team! I will definitely have them back next time! The job went well. Called several handymen. Some did not respond and a couple came out but either did not send a quote. Carlos came to the house, explained what needed to be done, gave me a quote and sent an email of the same. The men arrived and removed the old facia board and siding, cut and fitted the new board in place and replaced the siding. All work defined in the estimate was completed and at the quoted price. The men were professional and courteous. They cleaned their work area as well. I am very satisfied with their work. Definitely would hire again.

Carlos and his Alcantara Contractor team did a great job. They began the project when promised (January 2018) and completed it by July 2018 (about a month and 1/2 late which was understandable due to unexpected structural work). Carlos and/or his team explained all of the work they proposed to do and consulted us when new issues presented. Overall quality of work was very good and we are very pleased with the results.

I had some small water damage and needed a section of padding replaced and the carpet re-installed. Carlos and his workers were very professional, polite and on time. Also, I had Alcantara do a much bigger job and my experience with them was very positive.

Carlos, the owner, brought many suggestions to the table and spent the time trying to work within a budget at the same time bringing in the much needed updates. He discouraged some items that would have just made him money and was honest about costs. The workmanship in respecting the elements of an old home showed in repairing and restoring glass doorknobs to their prior elegance while still bringing modern touches to our home has been an amazing transformation. Small detail items didn't go unnoticed such as to where to center the bathroom vanity which makes a difference for the size constraints in our small bathroom. He's responsive on calls and was willing to work with us when we changed our mind or added extra work. The carpentry and painting skills of his crew are incredible. I'll never paint again now that I've seen what a quality paint job looks like.

Carlos was fantastic about responding to our initial communication and showing up for a consultation. He gave us very helpful information during the consult, including recommending what we could wait on, as this is our first home, it needs a lot of work, and we are first-time home owners. We were very pleased with that process. However, it took several weeks and quite a bit of followup to get an estimate. We were also pleased, once the work was over, that the final cost matched the initial estimate exactly - and Carlos even reduced the price somewhat because they did not need to replace a vent that he had included in the original estimate. The people who actually did the work were friendly. However, they did not communicate when they would be arriving; some days they didn't come, other days they showed up to say they would not be coming, and some days they came with no warning. When they were here, they were fantastic and they were clearly working hard and working well. We had only positive interactions with them. We followed up with Carlos multiple times regarding additional projects on our house, but following the initial work and payment, we never heard from Carlos or his team again. We ended up hiring someone else. Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the work, but the communication was a huge challenge. We would hire Carlos and his team again if possible.

The front porch came out great! It was regraded to keep water running away from the house and resurfaced. The indoor work on the ceiling was done quickly and professionally. It looks really nice. The roofing job was not done quite as expected. The fascia board was not replaced to cover the black rubber as discussed. After questioning this, I never heard back from them. I paid for the front porch and the ceiling in full. With the roof, I paid most, but not all. I figured I would hold off until the job was done as expected.

Carlos, the owner, had Antonio come out and look at my porch. He removed the bottom step from my porch and said he would replace it. It was raining at the time and Antonio did not want to work in the rain so he told me that he would come back the next morning. Three days later and he has still not shown up. I have called Carlos repeatedly and he just keeps making excuses as to why Antonio has not come out to install the railing and repair my steps. I am very disappointed with this company!

All of the work done was detailed to remove any future problems from ice dams, water leakage, mold, mildew and deterioration of pre-exsisting wood and drywall

I called provider September 22 had a great conversation with Carlos about what I needed done and the possibility of this becoming a long term job. He was very interested and assured me he could handle the job I never heard from him again. I called September 24 25, 30, October 13, 16. I gave this vendor many chances to call me back and he never did. This could have been a long term subcontractor relationship with over 10 commercial facilities. He never made the call.

good and bad. They quoted us one price, then charged us significantly more. Also, they knocked-off a second-story downspout. We called them several times to replace it, and they said they would come and re-attach it, but they never did. They removed the ice dams satisfactorily.

I would highly recommend Alcantara Contractor for service. I had a heavy stone mantel/ fireplace I needed instaled in my living room, we were going to use it as the centerpiece in our living room and use mantel for TV to rest on. They were easy to communicate with and did an excellent job installing the mantel. This was my first experience needing to find my own contractor for work and Antonio was awesome in explaing the details of what he thought he should do and the reason for putting in the mnatel in a certain way. The service was quick and easy and I would defiently use them again if I needed any kind service, highly recommended

Carlos and his team were very professional and responsive. I have been making calls to many contractors around the area to fix the ceiling of my bedroom, which was damaged due to leaking pipes. The sheet rock needed complete replacement. Most contractors never responded back. Some did but not timely, quoting scheduling difficulties. Carlos and his team were able to quickly fit this job into their schedule (the Monday immediately following the assessment. ) The team was able to finish the job with utmost professionalism. The job took three days, and everyday after they are finished with their job they cleaned the floor. On the last day when they finished painting of the ceiling, they also were kind enough to paint the side walls that were stained from the ceiling plastering and painting. Overall I was very impressed with their work, and I'm planning to hire them back for the upgrade of my bathrooms. I will definitely recommend them to anyone around the Boston area.

Carlos was extremely reliable and always showed when he said he was going to. He was very responsive and answered all my questions. The situation was difficult and stressful because the condominium association board was being difficult and the tenant was being delayed in getting into the unit (not carlos's fault). Carlos showed up when he said he would and he got the job done timely. At the end, the place looked beautiful! We also felt that his price was extremely reasonable. This was the second time we had used Carlos and we were very pleased both times.

Carlos and his team completely renovated my condo near Harvard square. His team brilliantly modified my old cabinets and perfectly fitted into my new space. The kitchen looks great! They also gutted the bath and the craftsmanship was excellent. As a contractor, Carlos is very straightforward, communicates regularly. I look forward to working with him again
