John Crichton Plastering

I have already asked john to reserve time in the late fall for additional work,he is a winner from start to finish. john and chris worked on every wall and ceiling in my hse and showed up every morning at 5 min to 7, then worked CONTINOUSLY through until approx 330 everyday. This is the eighth hse I have 'refurbished' and in the last 30 yrs I have never seen a team work so hard and so well together, they just bulldozed through this job! Another aspect that really impressed me is johns communication skills,he is very interested in clarity concerning scope, timetable and price of his work,really a pro to deal with. I only wish I had known him 7 houses ago ! absolutely no regrets recommending him. he is the real deal.

John's assistant actually came to do the job. He came when he said he was going to come and he did the work. He did a nice job. He was pretty neat for the kind of messy job he did.

When we ripped out wallpaper for painting, we discovered unfortunate horsehair plaster behind it. John was able to come in quickly, give me a clear description of what I was looking at (price, timeframe, and disruption), and got the job done beautifully so the painters could do their job.

John was a wonderful guy-very professional from start to finish. He called at the end of each day to check in and the work was flawless. We left him alone in our house each day with no concerns. We would absolutely hire him again.

We wanted some walls re-plastered when we finished scraping down old wallpaper. We told Jon that we should be ready for plastering in about a week's time and set a date for him to start. He showed up on time, finished in two days and kept things very clean (very little dust in the work area and around the rest of the house). The walls and ceiling came out fantastic.

Everything was outstanding. He did a superlative job, and I will definitely use him in the future.

John did a fantastic job. He was very prompt in answering phone calls. He showed up when he said he would to do the work. The work itself was excellent, the walls look beautiful. The price was a little higher than other quotes I got (a couple hundred dollars difference for a $3000 job) but the quality and reliability of the work and worker made it worth it. I highly recommend John Chrichton plastering.

We had an unfinished room over the garage off our master bedroom. We needed a drywall and plastering. We were looking for a quote and needed details on how long it would take. John Crichton Plastering quoted about 2 or 3 days late. His quote was a little high. We did not use him because, we believed, he misinterpreted himself. He said he was licensed. When my wife asked him where he was licensed, he said that he was licensed in Ireland. We were in Massachusetts and it was of no use that he was licensed in another country. At that point we wondered how we could trust him. He represented himself on Angie's List as being licensed and when we probed further, we found it was not in a way that we would find useful. He was responsive and punctual. He was professional in the way in which we interacted with him. However, I think it was very unprofessional of him to imply to have something that he did not. We will never use him again. We could never trust someone who started off with something so blatantly false. We went with another contractor for the hardwood.

He is very responsive and responds within 2 or 3 days. We have used him several times and we would call him again. He is very personable. He does good work.

He was an exceptionally nice person. The price was very fair. I had a little question about the work.

Competitive pricing; nice, hard-working guy with lots of integrity; very responsive and generally a pleasure to work with. The plastering work is really stellar.

John was extremely responsive and provided a rough quote over the phone. When he came out to measure the job turned out to be a bit more corner work than he thought so the quote went up about $200, but that was understandable. The only reason I didn't go with John is because I ended up having a builder who lives right in the neighborhood do the work for the same price, but he lives right around the corner and was also highly recommended. I did refer John to a co-worker though and would consider him for future jobs.

After getting many quotes from people, we selected John because he asked us the most questions and seemed to be the most knowledgeable on the matter. He toured the apartment before we moved in in order to getter a better sense of the work, and gave us what we thought was a very competitive quote. Despite having a family emergency and having to leave the country a week before the work began, he made sure that we were aware of the situation and helped us work with his colleague to arrange all of the details. The work was done on time, professionally, and the ceiling looks great. He even called us when he returned back to the states to make sure we were taken care of.

They showed up on time, worked fast, and did a good job. We were completely satisfied with their work. We will use them again in the future.

I was very impressed right from the outset based on John's responsiveness, promptness, and reliability. Even though his quote was more expensive than others we had received, we went with it because he was available to start the next week. Overall, the job went really smoothly. John accommodated our request to do the work in two phases so that we could continue to use two of the rooms while he was working in the other two. He did a good job protecting our floors in the rooms he was working on, and even re-papered the floors when he was done because he knew that we were painting next! Very thoughtful! John finished the work on time and on schedule. After he was done, we ended up having to call him back in where a hairline crack had developed in an area that he had to put a thick layer of plaster in to patch the wall. He came back within a matter of days and skimmed over the area. When he came back, he also touched up a few areas (around outlet boxes, switches, etc) where he hadn't gotten close enough to the boxes.

John was prompt in answering my initial inquiry and prompt in giving me an estimate. The day of the plastering, he and his helper put down paper and hung plastic over the windows and door of the bedroom with the damaged ceiling. To accomodate my schedule, he came at 7 a.m. and promised to be done by 12:45 p.m. He was done by 12:30 p.m. They cleaned up the dust and left the paper on the bedroom floor at my request so that I could use it while painting the ceiling. He asked me to dispose of the 2 bags of plaster debris. He expected me to sand the plaster areas after they dried, which I was okay with.

It was a small job but John was prompt taking a look and giving us a price. Did the work within a week of the estimate. We hired John based on previous good reports in Angies List.

We picked him because he had good reviews. His estimate seemed reasonable and was in the middle of the 3 estimates that we got.

It went really well. The job turned out to be more complicated and more destructive to the underlying walls because the existing panelling had been put up with nails and an amazing amount of glue. John stayed within the range of his estimate although the cost was at the high end. He did the job on very short notice, arrived on time every morning, and went over everything with me when he was done. Very professional and pleasant.

Came for an estimate-very late. Didn't measure and did not provide a written estimate. Not very professional, so I didn't hire him even though other estimates were within the same ballpark. He uses blueboard, not skim coat plastering, so my ceilings would have been 3/8-half an inch lower which was another factor in not going with him.

John was very prompt in returning our call, quoting and he arrived and finished as promised. He provided ideas and suggestions to help us keep the costs down on the next project. Later when we remodeled the bathroom he worked around our schedule and got the job done as promised. Both projects came out better than expected and we look forward to working with John again.

They arrived on time each day (or even earlier and sat in the truck for a few minutes 'gearing up'; put paper down of the floors and plastic on the walls; and worked and worked. They completed the job more quickly than anticipated and John even came back a few days later to tweak an area that needed a bit more.

They showed up on time and in only a few days after my initial inquiry. They took the time to prepare the room to protect floors and other non-plaster areas and did a good job cleaning up. After setting up the job, John (owner)left one worker to do the plastering and returned at the day's end to check the work and assist in the clean up.
