John Crichton Plastering

Mr. Crichton was pleasant courteous & business like. The quality of his work was better than I had expected. I would recommend him in a heart beat.

John and his assistant arrived at 8:00am and got to right work, starting with protecting the floor of the work area. Their first order of business was to install fiberglass insulation. Next, drywall was hung to seal the workspace. Finally, they applied a skim coat of plaster and completed the job by 11:00am. They were professional and very efficient in their work. We would not hesitate to call John again, or recommend him to friends seeking a plasterer. Already, we are enjoying a warmer living room, and we've definitely noticed that the furnace cycles much less frequently when we've had to turn up the heat, compared to last year.

John was simply wonderful. He always called me back promptly, he gave a really great price, he always let me know when he would be coming to the do the work and each step along the process. He did a great job with the plastering on some less than square and flat walls. the finished product looks great and I would certainly hire him again!

We were given a very reasonable price and written estimate. He showed up on time as promised. John clearly explained how he would prepare and apply the plaster. The work was done thoroughly and the areas was cleaned as promised. I would use him again for similar work.

Our porch ceiling had many discolored lines running through it and appeared to us to be sagging . We were concerned that we would have to tear down and replace the ceiling. John came out to our home at the appointed time, examined the ceiling In detail and told us that it is in fine shape and if it were his ceiling he'd just paint it. Which we did and it looks like new. We respected John's honesty in passing up a job. We asked him to look at a few other interior areas where the plaster ceilings were showing wear. Again he gave us an honest assessment, in one bedroom suggested that prior to repairing a discolored section we should find the cause of the moisture to avoid having him do the work only to have it discolor again. We would love to give John a job to see if his work is as good as we think it would be!

He was excellent. It worked out great for with him. He returned my call. I described the job and he had help with the person he probably work with and get done in one day. He came out and did it, completed the job to my satisfaction, everything was very neat and when he left, there was no indication that someone worked in my house, no dust anywhere. He's a very pleasant person. He's wonderful and great. He did a great job.

John did a phenomenal job! He was extremely conscientious. He taped off everything to minimize the dust including my hardwood floors. In 2 hours he repaired the ceiling and did a fantastic job with matching the scroll. I am thrilled. He also gave me a discount for being an Angie's List Member. I highly recommend him. He is honest, pleasant to work with, cleans up after work is completed, and does super work. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to contact him if a need arises.

I did like John immediately, he showed up on time, looked at the job and told us exactly what he thought about the ceiling and was honest in his feeling that he would not be able to do what we needed to have done and suggested another company that he felt could handle our job. He did want us to call him to let him know if his suggestion worked out for us. I would certainly hire him to do other work for us in the future, this job would have required him to replace the ceiling, saving some of the ornaments if possible, make molds of the existing ornaments and install them back in the ceiling. Anyway, I really appreciated his honesty and professionalism.

I had scheduled John to do my plastering after recieving three quotes. John was in the middle and the high guy must have been high because he gave me a price four times what John wanted. John was on time each time we met and was scheduled on January 7th but work needed to stop so John was rescheduled. As the date aproached he stayed in touch and was able to make the date we had agreed on. John said he would be at the site at 8:00 am and he was there at 7:59am ready to work with his apprentice Chris. He said that it would take about three days and it took two and a half. I'm no drywall guy but John fixed my mistakes to make me look like an ace. The quality of the work was great. I would recommend John to anyone looking for plastering services.

We hired John Crichton to patch, repair and skim coat 12 rooms in our 1910ish home. The plaster was sagging in some places, and there were numerous small holes from electrical upgrade. He also scraped popcorn ceilings and skimmed those. The price was competitive and he scheduled us quickly. The job took exactly the amount of time and cost exactly what he estimated, the work was excellent and he left the house clean - quite a feat for so much sanding of plaster! I highly recommend John Crichton.

We had a water leak that damaged our kitchen ceiling which is plastered with a swirl design. I thought matching the existing pattern was going to be a challenge. John easily pulled it off in a matter of a couple hours and it looks so good nobody ever notices that the ceiling was damaged.

John did an excellent job - the wall blends perfectly with the exisiting wall. John responded promptly to my initial call and we set up a time for him to look at the work area and give me an estimate. He was able to schedule the work in a very reasonable time frame. On the day of the work he got held up in traffic and called to let me know he would be about 10 minutes late. I think a lot of people would consider 10 minutes a +/- factor to arrival time and would not have bothered to keep me informed. John's work was excellent. He was very neat - covered everything in the room including the floor (The floor was just the sub-floor but he still covered it.) On top of the excellent plastering that he did - he very kindly removed a border in the room that I was having trouble getting off the wall. (This was done while he waited for a section to set before he could go forward with the plastering and I was totally and very pleasantly surprised when I saw what he had done.) He also offered some suggestions for a way that I could save myself some money on another project that I am going to be doing. John is a very pleasant fellow, easy to feel comortable with and to communicate the needs of the job. I will say this about myself, I expect a job to be done right and I was more than satisfied with John's work. I highly recommend him to those looking for a plasterer.

.John and his apprentice/associate Chris were amazing! We needed the work to start asap and contacted 3 different plasterers. John returned our call and squeezed us in before a trip home to Ireland! His work was so impressive that we had him return to blueboard the hallway ceilings and stairway ceiling. John got to work early each day and stayed until his goals for the day were achieved. He updated us on progress and communicated via phone when we weren't able to speak in person. John was meticulous in putting down his "red carpet" paper to protect our floors and cleaned up after each day's work. If only every contractor had the same work ethic!

Mr Crichton came when he said he would, did a beautiful job, and cleaned up after. Throughout the process he told us what to expect (lots of plaster dust!) and what the next step would be. We are having our kitchen counters replaced, and he told us that if the new plaster was damaged when the old counters were being removed, we should call him to come in and touch it up, even if it is just a small amount of damage. We are very happy with the work and will certainly call Mr Crichton again if we need plastering done.

Perfect. They came on time, laid out a paper flooring (I had not realised how messy it could become!). They did their job. We as a family do not wear shoes in the house, and both John and his helper (Michael?) were cognizant of this and would take off their shoes when they were walking on the non-papered floor. They cleaned up and left - not a problem encountered.

John came out quick to estimate and did the job within a couple business days. Great attention to detail matching textures on repair work. The walls were nice and smooth and look great now that they are painted. I will call again on next project.

I called John and needed a few drywall repairs. My house is going on the market on 5/20/2012 and a lot is going on. John showed up a few days after I called and completed the project to a very professional standard. John is very trustworthy and has a great sense of humor. Without asking he gave me an Angies list discount.

He was very prompt in his reply and arrived to do the work when he said he would. He understood what I wanted and completed the work exactly as I requested. The work was well done and he was a pleasure to work with.

We contacted Mr. Crichton on Sat. 3/10/12. He arrived the next monday 3/12/12 to estimate the job. After inspection he informed us that if it was simply patch and repair it would cost about $700.00. He noted that it looked like the damage to the outside wall was probably from ice dams from last winter. He arrived as promised on Friday 3/15/12 and did the work - no moisture was found so he did not need to replace any walls. He did have to repair a hole in the upstairs wall that he made to check for moisture but he did not charge any extra for this. The work he did was excellent, his manner was friendly and professional. We will certainly call him again if we need any more work done. Thank You John!

I first contacted John back in August 2011 and he came the very next day to give me an estimate. By the end of February we were finally ready to have the job done and when I called John to ask him to do the job he came out again to look at the ceiling which I thought was really nice of him. He told me he would be able to come Thursday or Friday of the following week and that he would call on Tuesday of that week to let me know- which he did. John and Chris, his helper, arrived at 8:00am Friday, March 2nd and immediately got right to work very carefully covering the floor with painter's heavy paper off of a roll and then covered that with plastic tarps. They then covered all the walls from floor to ceiling with painter's plastic. John and Chris went right to work putting on 2 thin coats of plaster. When they were done, John called me in to ask if I would like him to fill a 1" round hole in the wall where are old doorbell wire had been. He filled it and saved me from having to deal with it when I paint the walls. John and Chris finished around 11:30am and did a great job of cleaning up. John and Chris are both very friendly and great craftsmen. My husband and I are very happy with the plastering job they did on our ceiling and would definitely hire them again.

Their service was very good. They were very knowledgable, and prompt. He was very dependable. He showed up when he said he was going to. He would call to confirm when he was going to come in that day.

After discussing the details of the job (plaster a blue board wall) with John over the telephone he gave me his estimate and we agreed that he would arrive on Wednesday at 8:00 AM to do the job. John arrived with his assistant Chris at 7:55 AM, and they came in to the condominium to look over the space and the job.They had assembled all materials by 8:40 and by 9:30 applied all of the protective plastic to the adjacent walls and floor and began the mixing of product. They were meticulous and very concerned about neatness. They wore coveralls; two sets of shoes so as not to track any product through the condominium, and they cleaned up taking care of all clean up details. John and Chris are excellent craftsmen; the wall looks great. His price was very competitive and he honored his discount for Angies' List customers. John and Chris care about their work and attend to all details. They demonstrated commendable interpersonal skills and they were finished by about 11:30 AM. I strongly recommend that you hire John for any plastering or interior wall work that you have. You will not be disappointed.

I had a very smooth, pleasant, and satisfying experience dealing with John. From our phone conversations to set things up to our in-person interactions, he was always polite, professional, and personable. He called to let me know that he would be about 10 minutes late due to morning traffic, and apologized for "taking so long to set things up" even though it all happened within a very reasonable amount of time. He used plastic sheeting on my floors so there was no mess. My partner noticed and commented that John even used a plastic sheet out on the sidewalk when he was mixing up the plaster outside! He did a great job and worked efficiently. He seems to be a stand-up person with integrity, and I would not hesitate to work with him again or to recommend him to anyone.
