The system is a boiler that heats the water, and attached to it is a 3-horsepower Honda engine which heats the water. Additionally, the heat that the engine generates is transferred back to the boiler so that the heat is not lost. It is attached to a module that actually generates electricity when the heat is running. We traditionally use between 33 and 35 KW of energy per day in the house and during the coldest month of the year we use about 13. We generated about 3 MW of electricity in a matter of a few months, and so our bill went from $98-$100 down to $38 in one month. Moreover, the system that we replaced was about 83% efficient when it was put in, and it was old when we got here in 1992 - it was probably working at 60% efficiency. Because the system that we put in is 95% efficient, we save about $100 a month on our heating bill too. The system runs on natural gas and it is phenomenal. We have a 5000 sq. ft. house and we had the gas company come by and give us a price on the traditional heating system which would have cost us $17000. This system costs about $22000, and we get rebates from the government for putting in a system like this. So, for $5000 extra, we got something that generates electricity and that produces one-third the carbon-di-oxide as the other system. It is a going-green type of system. The engineer who came over to go over things with me was very knowledgeable, and it was really a pleasant experience. It was very knowledgeable talking to him. He went to our city?s electric company and did a demonstration over there, and the city was so taken up with the idea and was so willing to accept that they actually came over to our house once it was put in. They have put in a new meter that will actually run backwards when we generate more electricity than we use. In a sense, we will be selling it back to the city. Everybody was just so happy because even though we make our own electricity in the city, apparently, it is less expensive and beneficial to the city when each house makes its own electricity as well. They just loved the whole system. Climate Energy did a beautiful job. It has been a very pleasant experience right from the beginning. There have been issues with the software and so forth, but Climate Energy can monitor it with their computers. They find out problems before I know it and they call up, come over and service them. I have recommended them to our church because they are putting in new boilers. We actually got a story in the local newspaper about this new system that we have put in.
Description of Work: My house was built in 1860 and we used Climate Energy to change over our whole heating system. We had a relatively new system put in that is a co-generator of electricity. Climate Energy is the company that sells the product and maintains it, and they have this company called Wilson Brothers that puts in the system. I get a 3-year service contract as part of the installation. They did the installation over two separate days: one day they set the heating system up and the next day they put in all the pipes. They took out the old water heater and boiler and put in a new water heater, boiler and the engine. They put in a cold vent which was a PVC pipe and closed up the old vents.

They have a unique product. Their technology is first rate. It is somewhat an h-vac but more of a green solution. They were professional and very responsive. I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: They sold and installed a new furnace, and cogenerator. They also provide the service for these.
