WIndow ordered was wrong size (someone else's fault) but Silvio managed to make it fit in the time he had allocated for installing a window that was the correct size. He saved me the $200 expense of ordering another window (custom window orders can't be returned). Very pleased and the special deal price I paid ($99 for 4 hours) was a real bargain.

Silvio is a great guy. I would use him again anytime. He actually answered his phone when I called him which is out of the ordinary for a contractor. He called me right back after the initial call and put me in his phone so he knew when I was calling him and answered every time from that point forward. He showed up on time and had a helper with him who was a nice guy too. Finished the job on time and budget.

It was an excellent job and I would call them again in a heartbeat for any job. Silvio worked with his father on my project, and a better team doesn't exist. They were professional, on time, cleaned up every speck each day, and the quality of work is superb. I had asked if they could attach the mantle and do the tiling before Christmas and family visits, not expecting it would be possible in such a short time. Silvio rearranged his schedule and they finished it in 2.5 days. This was truly a custom project because the mantle was used and needed some repair work. The finished product is lovely and we've had many compliments. Silvio and his father are simply nice people, as well, so working with them and deciding on adjustments (every plan needs adjustments) was easy. I have had a complete kitchen remodel, so I know about how much things cost and that some contractors can be difficult once the contract is signed. I have also had difficulty finding someone who can do projects too small for a contractor but too big for a basic handyman. Silvio Carrieri fits this niche with ease and professional friendliness. Be patient when you contact him- it takes him a few days to respond, but its worth it.

It was a good experience.. The work was done well. There were some issues that came up in terms of leaks but the job was completed professionally. They did not consider the job to be done until we were happy with the end result. Would definetly use again. As a matter of fact we some stairs in the basement replaced and had this company do the job because we were pleased with the bulkhead job.

Silvio is just great to work with. Highly professional, honest, When he saw that the work would take more time than originally expected he raised the issue right away and explained the reason for the difference. It's clear that he really wants to do things right, and do right by his customers.

They came on time. Very clean, tidy and precise. Work done with care.

After numerous emails it became clear that Mr. Carrieri, who is a one-person business, could not fulfill my request. He refunded my money.

I got a coupon for 4 hours of handyman services. I called Silvio to set up an appointment. He apologized for being swamped, but he said he would honor the coupon after the expiry date, so we set up a time. He arrived on time, and did a fine job painting around a number of windows. It's tricky work, but he was fastidious and worked efficiently, managing to paint all the windows I needed done. I believe that he got in over his head with the number of coupons sold, and that he was serious about making things right. I would not hesitate to use him again for handyman work.

Being aware of traffic patterns between Framingham and Cambridge I confirmed that he wanted to come to Cambridge. I explained my concern about the Mass Pike traffic in particular, first thing in the morning. He arrived 30 minutes late in spite of my reminder (he said he was aware of the traffic) and didn't offer an apology at being late. We worked together on 2 of the projects and that went well, though a friend pointed out later that we'd placed them backward which is why they wouldn't stand safely. An extra hole was made beside the hanging strip of hooks in my bedroom and wasn't repaired. The strip of hooks put up in my closet have fallen down. I was charged a supply fee above the $99 "deal". I wasn't aware to expect this and it wasn't mentioned when I made the appt. Overall, I think this handyman had good intentions. Unfortunately, the work wasn't what I expected.

Silvio worked for 4 hours. I used an Angie's List 'daily deal' so the price was right, but I would hire Silvio again at his full hourly rate. He was highly skilled and professional. He took the time to clean up all areas in which he worked. I was impressed with that. It demonstrated his respect for me and my house.

It took a while to schedule his time; he works on his own and I think was overwhelmed by the response to his Angie's List Big Deal. However, we set up an appointment and he arrived as he said he would. Let me say, I appreciate having a service person who arrives at my home, wipes his feet (thoroughly!) and is neat, clean and doesn't smell like an ash tray. His work was equally neat and professional and he cleaned up afterward. He even touched up paint where some minor marks were made in installing the fixtures. I liked him so much, I had him look at some other projects I have around the house.

We played phone tag for a while and there were other delays because of other work being done on our house, so the Big Deal had actually expired a couple of months earlier. But Silvio honored it, came exactly when he said he would, did a bunch of small jobs, then started on the cabinet assembly. When his half day was finished, he explained that it would be another fee ($50 an hour) to complete it, which we were willing to do. It took just another hour, the cabinet is lovely, and the other projects were completed efficiently and competently. We'd hire him again.

I purchased The Big Deal "$99 for a Handyman for Half a Day!" on August 5, 2011. On September 12, I received an unexpected message from Angie's List saying, "Congratulations of your Angie?s List Big Deal Purchase! We are excited to offer you the opportunity to take advantage of this incredible Deal! We were able to get you such a great price on a high quality service provider because of the Group nature of this coupon. We were able to sell a high volume of Deals in a very short period of time, resulting in a significant discount for your job. Carrieri Home Improvement, an A rated service provider on Angie?s List, will be working extremely hard to schedule and complete all of the Big Deal jobs as quickly as possible. This company values the quality of each job they complete, and will only send qualified painters to your home to ensure that you are satisfied with the work. In order to complete these jobs efficiently, they would like to group customers based on location. They may be able to complete several jobs in one day if they have work scheduled in your area. Please try to be as flexible as possible with this in order to get your work done as quickly as possible." That was okay since I was in no hurry. On November 1 I e-mailed Silvio Carrieri saying, "We would like to find a mutually convenient time for you to repair and re-tile part of a stall shower enclosure. Should we get the supplies and, if so, what?" On November 6, he replied "What do you mean by repair and retile? How big of an area are we talking about? Is there damage behind the tile?" On November 12, I answered "We have an aging condo with a stall shower. At the very least, the caulk needs to be removed / replaced and the grout needs to be patched up. Ideally we think the whole stall should be retiled. We are not aware of any damage behind the tile." On November 22, Silvio replied "Sorry for the delayed response. Are there certain days/times that work best for you?" On January 26, 2012 I wrote "Hi, Silvio. I apologize for not being in touch sooner but my wife passed away in mid-December. I would still like to have you come out to do some work in my condo. I have refined my needs to these: 1. re-grout and re-caulk shower stall (downstairs) and bathtub (upstairs) 2. repair a small section of wallboard in upstairs bathroom 3. re-install 2 pieces of laminate stair nose in living room 4. repair laminate threshold to master bedroom. My Angie's List coupon expires February 1 but if you're willing to extend it to the end of next week then Thursday (2/2) and/or Friday(2/3) would be ideal for me." Getting no response, I repeated the message twice -- on January 29 and 31. I NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE TO MY LAST E-MAILS!

I chose to call him because of multiple positive reviews on Angie's List. He came right away to provide estimate on the projects. He seemed very honest, direct, thorough, and competent. It took some time to get the actual estimate, but the price seemed very reasonable. That was over five months ago. I have not seen him since. It took months of emails just to get him to specify a start date. That date came and went, he never showed up, and he did not respond to emails leading up to the date or immediately afterwards. He finally emailed back about a week after his proposed start date, said that he could begin work the following week. Same deal, he did not respond to further emails until the end of said week. He may do very good work, but I will never know and don't care to find out. Looking through the subsequent reviews on Angies List, it seems as though I'm not the only person who had this experience.

I used the angies list deal and he was worth the wait. He scraped the grout all the way around the tub and recaulked it. He was very knowledgeable, oraganized and considerate while performing the job. He also snaked the tub drain that was getting clogged. I would highly recommend him for future projects!

He didn't return my first 2 calls and didn't show up for our appointment today. I tried to get a hold of him and he didn't answer his phone, didn't respond to his text, and his voice mailbox was full.

He never respond to any calls or emails and he did not respond to Angie's List calls either.

Purchased 4 hours of service through Angie's Big Deal. Made and confirmed an appointment with Carrieri Home Improvement through email. Sent a subsequent email trying to alter the date of the appointment due to a work conflict. Never heard back. Re-sent that email and asked for a reply. Never heard back. Sent an email on the Friday before the date of the original appointment (a Monday) and said that since I did not hear back from my note requesting a change, that I would assume our original appointment stood. Never heard back. On the date of the appointment, I sent an email saying I took off time from work and was waiting for him at my house. Never heard back. Buyer Beware.

I don’t remember the exact amount that I spent but it was somewhere in the series of a couple of hundred dollars. He was thorough and polite. He kept me informed about everything that he was doing. I will use his services again in the future.

This was not a good experience.

I purchased Silvio's time as an Angie's Big Deal on August 5th, right after the deal's announcement for interior window repair (scraping & painting). Like others, I had trouble contacting him because he was overwhelmed. After several re-schedules, we connected on Nov 11th. He arrived 2 hours late without calling due to a personal problem. He apologized and I just sucked it up, having already waited 3 months. We discussed the project together and decided on interior window wood scraping and re-painting. He didn't have all his tools because he had a new truck and it wasn't organized yet. He did an excellent job with scraping and came back a few days later (with tools) to finish the old paint removal & repair. He said it'd take ~24hrs for putty to dry and he'd send an email to schedule the painting. I didn't hear back from him for FIVE WEEKS. I expected a few days, not five weeks. I finally told him not to come back and I'd pay him for his extra time on the project. I was tired of being at the bottom of his priority list. His work is very good and I would consider him for another job but only after this Angie's deal business is finished and only with a signed contract with beginning and end dates to hold him accountable.

I was very pleased and will call again for more complex improvement jobs. Sylvio is smart and capable
