We heard running water but could not work out where it was coming from. The owner, Chuck, came over within the hour and was incredibly friendly and professional. He investigated all of the options and diagnosed the problem successfully. He did not charge me for the call-out as he simply turned off a water outlet switch. However, most provider would have charged a call out fee. Chuck was fantastic and I would highly recommend Foley & Sons as an honest, reputable responsive company who go the extra mile for their clients.

Tile looks beautiful. They were very patient with my month long decision process in selection of tile and bathroom items. The bathroom is very small, and fitting in the selected sink with wainscoting walls resulted in the need to replace the door - an innovated solution. I also purchased wallpaper from them, and again they were very helpful. The actual work was done quickly and cleanly. Overall, I was very pleased.

I have been shopping at Foley's for about 30 years. If you want the best price on tile, this is the place to shop. The selection is excellent, and the salespeople are knowledgeable and very helpful. The store is not as fancy as more high-end tile stores, but neither are the prices. For example, recently I found a floor tile for my kitchen at a high-end tile store, then I found the same tile at Foley's for a much lower price. Because I paid by check, I also received a discount on the order. When I have requested eco-friendly products, such as no-VOC tile grout and tile sealer, the salespeople have been able to provide these products. I have also bought quality bath supplies and fixtures at a good price. Although I can afford to shop at more expensive stores, I like the down-to-earth, no-pressure, friendly shopping experience at Foley's combined with a great selection of quality products at the best price.

Messy showroom with tiles chaotically organized, so hard to find materials compared to higher-end tile shops in Boston. Pricing is comparable - perhaps even higher - than better organized stores. The tile selection is okay if you live in the area, but better selections can be found from stores closer to Boston, especially if you're looking for higher end tile. Sales help is friendly albeit aggressive at Foley's. I ordered tile, grout and other supplies. While the tile was priced to market, the ancillary supplies were overpriced but I had a project deadline to meet. I received a 'discount' through my contractor, but according to him Foley's overcharges retail customers with inflated pricing. There were some communication issues between my tile guy and Foley's, but once the order was placed it arrived on schedule.
Description of Work: I originally planned to purchase tile and supplies for two bathrooms and laundry room, and ended up only purchasing for the laundry room.

We had a glass shower door that whose hinges were separating from the tiles that the door was attached to. I was concerned that the entire door would fall out of its frame. I called Foley and Sons and they came to take a look the same day. They came back the next day and fixed the hinges and left everything in great shape. Overall, I was very please with their quick, professional work and would highly recommend them.

and a few days later went to Lowes where we got fantastic service on the spot
Description of Work: Went looking for countertops in showroom. Extremely disorganized. No prices, none to help or answer questions. Picked out a sample, left measurements, was told someone would get back to me in a few days with a price. No one did. Went back a week later, salesperson was extremely disinterested. Was told we would get price and to make an appointment to have counters measured. First available date was three weeks later. Took it

Called at 10:30/11:00AM to try and schedule plumbing work. I was told person was with a customer and would call me right back. At 1:45PM I called again and explained the work I needed done. I was told 'this is tile line' I will get you to plumbing. Waited over 3 minutes with no one picking up phone. I hung up and called again explaining I had been on hold three minutes and was waiting for plumbing. Apparently the plumbing person was standing right there and the two people had an exchange about my three minute wait and my persistence. The plumbing person answered in an abrupt manner as if I were bothering her. I explained I had changed my mind and would not be doing business with them. If this is how a customer is treated calling in for the first time I'm not interested in doing business with them.

I contacted Foley as they are local. My insurance company discouraged me as she said they were maybe too expensive but I wanted to support local business. They were prompt, friendly, easy to work with. They aided in picking tile and toilet. They were prompt and did the work on time. What did not go well was when the ceiling in the kitchen was replaced, the person putting it up left a light fixture above and rather than remove the ceiling and do it all again, I had to buy new fixtures so they all matched. When the electricians were here, Foley's said to me " if there is anything else you would like the electricians to do while there, just ask." Thinking this would just be part of an hourly bill, I did and they spent an extra 45 minutes disconnecting an electrical lamp post outside. And I got a bill for over 300 dollars for this extra work. Had I known this would be extra when asked if there was anything else I wanted, I would not have done it. In addition, I had an estimate done for counter replacement that was three thousand (!) dollars more than an competitor did who also, by the way, threw in an undermounted sink for no charge.
Description of Work: We had a toilet leak through to the room below and so we had to remove the toilet and replace it, the sub floor, the ceiling below, and retile.

The new linoleum was replacing older flooring that contained asbestos. Mr. Foley offered me a lower cost alternative to have the old flooring removed. However, I chose to have it removed. Foley was very accommodating of the flooring removal schedule in terms of removing the washer and dryer in advance and installing the new flooring soon thereafter. The installation went very well and I am very happy with the new floor.

Excellent! We went into Foley's unexpectedly (we had planned on looking for tile at some point, but that particular day we were in Maynard for casual shopping only). We were greeted immediately and offered assistance, then were left alone to go thru all the samples on display. The minute we needed help we got it and were shown some new samples just in and not yet hung in the showroom. Found the one!! Showed them our blueprint, everything was ordered and voila! 1st step of our project completed and we were off to dinner in no time. They made the entire process easy and I got the feeling that their business philosophy is to keep it simple (in a GOOD way) for the customer and they've got it right - it couldn't have been easier or more pleasurable. Got a call from Foley's in less than a week's time to let us know the tile was in. JUST AS THEY PROMISED! I drove down a couple of days later and got there before they were officially open and when I pulled into the back lot, several Foley people were setting things in motion for the day and although I was early, they didn't bat an eye and went above and beyond to get my order, load my SUV and even let me in the store to pay. No waiting even though they were closed! I believe the owner rang up the sale and he was so nice, personable, and just someone you could kill a few minutes pleasantly chitchatting with. I left there this time as happy as I did the first time. The reason I checked off N/A on this report as it relates to price is that who knows? - maybe we could have gotten the tile slightly cheaper at a big box store, then again maybe not. But the customer service Foley's gave us is priceless and to support a family-owned, small local business is our pleasure and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone at Foley's!
Description of Work: IN-STORE CUSTOMER SERVICE ONLY - doing the work ourselves Foley's assisted us in choosing floor tile and all the materials necessary to complete the job, ordered the tile and contacted us when all was ready for pick-up by us.

One project I oversaw there was a huge differential in the level of the floor making a kitchen countertop and sink not sit level. The team worked tirelessly to get it right. Another project involved redoing an entire bathroom for a handicapped individual who still wanted the heavy glass shower doors for his lady and the rainhead shower but with zero thresholds, lower controls and a grab bar encircling the large tile shower. It looked terrific when reconstructed and totally custom. There is a constant eye to overall safety, improvements in electrical and lighting, and reduction of fire hazards...alll of which add to the overall value of this company.
Description of Work: I have come to know this business well as I do consulting in the field of accessible and universal design. I am a Certified Aging In Place Specialist (CAPS) and work closely with all of them to implement proper design and materials for renovations. Chuck has been in business for about 35 years and personally oversees all work. He understands (as do I) firsthand many of the issues facing consumer who wishes to stay in their home rather than move. It is usually more economical than moving to assisted living and definitely adds to one's quality of life. We take all members of a family in to consideration and even add an eye towards the resale value of the premises since I am a licensed Realtor as well. Good design is always in style and this kind of renovation does not have to look institutional or dated. I am particularly impressed with Sarah in the plumbing arena. Her comprehensive knowledge of styles, codes, and current design are fantastic. She is very conscious of the price and value, form and function at all levels. They have a team of people to install, start to finish, including paint and wallpaper if required. They do not do kitchen design although they have cabinetry for vanities and can provide stock cabinets, kitchen plumbing fixtures, flooring and tile. (I consult in this arena of design as well.) There is a vast array of flooring materials available many of which are new to most consumers. Their selections of stone and tile are copious so plan to spend a fair amount of time to uncover the right ones for you. Estimates are currently free. Just let them know what you are needing so they can plan the time required for measurements for the design team. It takes a few steps to get an accurate estimate as you have to make choices to be specific. They are better equipped than most and unlike the big box providers don't forget the small parts that make the job go smoothly.

I wanted to support a local family owned store and it happened to be my contractor's father owned it. Small bonus they allowed my dogs to shop with me so as not to leave them unattended at home with a house full of contractors and open doors. And I was happy to hear I'd get a discount as it was his son doing the job. I specifically told them my budget was fixed and explained I needed to buy a whole bathroom. They assigned me a sales rep who took me upstairs first to look at countertops and toilets. She seemed attentive and helpful and followed me around explaining products and writing down my choices as we went. She then took me back downstairs to look at tiles. She gave me a place to sit and look at samples. As I hemmed and hawed about different tiles I would check in with the sales rep what each tile would mean for my total invoice. She did a whole lot of calculations and kept coming up with numbers. I chose a tile based on what it brought the total cost of my bathroom to and got my heart set on one only to find out as I was checking out that they had not included the stuff I told them I wanted to buy while we were upstairs picking things out! The final invoice they gave me was only for tiles and related items. I found this very aggravating and they were very unapologetic. They were acting as if "upstairs" was a completely different store even though I had travelled through it with this same sales rep who had supposedly been writing a log of all of my chosen items. It was as if what happened upstairs with this rep had been on another planet. As I had been looking at tiles for a very long time and had my heart set on that one tile by that point I moved forward although already significantly over budget and reminded them I was buying a whole bathroom - not just tiles so please add EVERYTHING up. I followed up later when the toilet had not arrived and they had no order on record. They forgot to order the toilet which put extra stress into the remodelling process. The toilet arrived and later I got a call asking for payment for the toilet!!!! I was furious. Not only had I been given a quote that did not include all of the items I picked up stairs with the sales rep, but after I had to remind them to add the stuff from upstairs they still had never included the toilet in my budget quote and never ordered the toilet. Again they were completely unapologetic. In the end I exchanged a recessed shower box for a diverter valve - an exchange that I was originally told should have left me with a $20 credit to my account. Yet they insisted for almost 2 years that I owed them money. I finally paid them their money to shut them up. I will never use them again. Their prices are too high (and I supposedly had a discount) to deal with such unapologetic customer service with a total lack of attention to detail.

The job went extremely well. Chuck Foley was a very effective contractor, and any issues that arose were dealt with promptly and professionally by him and/or his crew and subs. When a plumber was needed to disconnect (and reconnect) the stove, he was on the scene punctually and didn't hold up the whole process by being unavailable. When the countertop was not beveled as specified, the matter was completely resolved within two days. On the whole, a top-of-the-line experience, as good as any we could imagine! Also, a word of thanks to the folks in the retail areas - very competent and friendly.
Description of Work: Removed rubber tile in entryway, put in new subfloor, and tiled with new ceramic tile. Replaced kitchen countertops and sink, added tiled backsplash behind stove and all countertops. Area behind stove included a decorative design done extremely well. Replaced kitchen floor, which required a plumber to disconnect and reconnect the gas stove. Replaced bathroom countertop and sink, and repaired damaged wall discovered when old mirror (which had covered the damage) was removed.

We were not pleased with that experieince. They came out to look around and that was posistive. Going from that it took months and months to get a written estimate. The estimate for the second bathroom only said "$22,000 soup to nuts". What does that even mean? It was a bad interaction. They were also quite expensive.

I'm very satisfied with the work. The floor in my new studio is beautiful. I plan to hire them again to tile another adjacent room. Chuck and his team are a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a tile contractor.
Description of Work: I hired Foley & Sons to put a tile floor in a garage remodel. I turned a 2-car garage into a photography studio. The job was done in the time estimated at the price quoted. All of the workmen were professional and courteous. I asked them for an estimate on 2 additional small projects (installation of an interior window and skim coat on part of the exterior foundation). The additional projects were also completed on time within budget. They kept the job site clean throughout the project.

Judging from the reactions of all who have seen it since it was a huge success. The choice of countertop, its profile and coloration work so well with existing cabinetry and the new sink and faucet are a true enhancement to the space. Good job well done.
Description of Work: I have been rennovating a condo which had not seen a lot of TLC in many moons. The kitchen had countertops original to the unit which were disintegrating so I consulted Foley's and purchased all new countertops, sink and faucet. Unfortunately the workshop where the countertops were fabricated went on vacation just as we placed the order, but due to perseverance the units were at my door a week after the hiatus and installed the next day. The installer and plumber worked with me to ensure that all was level and met my expectations.

Our experience with Foley's Faucetorium was a nightmare and we continue to tell everyone we know NOT to use them. We had a crack in 2 stategically placed tiles in our Master bathroom shower that we had to keep grouting because they could potentially cause a leak. Because replacing just 2 tiles was not an option and we wanted to make sure that nothing else was leaking, we decided to have the whole shower area replaced. Since we liked the white subway -style tiles that we had on the shower floor and the Carrerra marble tiles that were on the walls and threshold and because they were fairly easy to replace, we just decided to have Foley's replace everything just as it was but with a new shower door as large as the area would allow and newer fixtures. They came to measure twice (Chuck Foley, the owner) and said it would be an easy job and take about 10 days . We picked out our tiles and fixtures and door style which was easy because they were the same or virtually the same as we had before. Foleys came in March and tore out the old shower and tiles and put in the new fixtures using their plumber without incident except for a delay in getting the plumber. Then they began putting in the new tiles and I happen to go up and check on them that afternoon and noticed that they were putting tiles around the frame to my bathroom window! Who does that? And how ridiculous to think that was the plan? Apparently, Chuck permitted his nephew, who had never done this before, to be the project manager and to tile the wallls. So now we had to wait for them to order more tiles and take the old ones down and put more up! And they had to replace the window's wood trim. Then it was time for them to put in a new threshold and we see that it is smaller than we had before by about 2 inches! And we were were looking for the area to stay the same or become a bit larger, not smaller! We were now already way behind schedule so we begrugingly let that go (won't do that on my next project!) On week 3-4, they arrived with the shower doors and I couldn't believe my eyes...the doors were twice as large as measured despite the fact that these were custom doors measured twice by the owner! And he,Chuck, was in denial and argueing about it. He thought that was ok. It was then that we thought there was something seriously wrong with Chuck's reasoning ability. Luckily, we had a copy of the measurements and a photo of the shower area "before" to remind them of what they were to be doing! It was obvious to anyone that these doors wouldn't fit on the threshold , not even close! So now they tell us that we will have to wait another week for more doors to be created. We waited and waited and waited...they finally arrive 3 plus weeks later and are installed. And then....there you see it..the handle on the door is the wrong handle and is installed upside down! So we have to wait weeks for the correct handle to arrive! Never again! The only reason I didn't give them all "F's" for this project is that they took off 10% off the bill for any "inconvenience"!! That does not make up for any of this annoyance and my blood pressure rises everytime I look at that smaller shower!
