Description of Work: We have hired Brent to do a few jobs ranging from exterior repair and retaining walls to interior insulation.

Description of Work: Brent has worked for us for years. He's done carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, as well as paint stripping. He's extremely versatile.

Description of Work: There should be a category for "Trustworthiness" so I could give Brent an "A" for that as well. It's Saturday night and my wife and I had just gotten home from work. Our babysitter asks if we knew about the wet spots in the carpet in the basement. We didn't so I spent until 4AM trying to suck it all up with a wet/dry vacuum borrowed from a neighbor. The water was seeping up from under the house due to a failed sump pump and seeping right through the cement foundation. The worst part was we had to leave in 5 hours to get to the airport in time for a vacation. Now the dilemma hits me: leave the house with a failed sump pump and wet basement and come home to black mold or stay home to deal with this while my family goes without me to avoid losing out on a trip that was already paid for. I was too groggy to think straight but luckily I knew of Brent from a few smaller jobs he had done for me in the past at my store in Boston. So I slept for 3 hours and called Brent from the airport to explain the situation. Brent has basement experience so the first step was to get a company out ASAP to remove the carpets, dry the floors/walls and stop any mold from starting. Mold remediation companies are not cheap and I knew that I had to give them access to my house while I was away and trust that whatever they were telling me was true about the state of my basement. Thankfully Brent stuck around to oversee the remediation company's work and diagnosis. When they suggested we start tearing into the drywall to be 100% sure there was no moisture Brent calmly told me the walls were dry and there was no need for it. Thousands of dollars and many headaches saved right there.

Description of Work: I originally hired Brent for some odd jobs around the house (putting together a crib, repainting two walls, ect.) but since that time we have hired him to do so many things I cannot even remember all of them. From designing and building and finishing a storage wall for the dining room and one for a nursery (complete with a hide away changing table THAT HE DESIGNED) to sharpening knives (because I am too lazy) to refitting toilets to installing new lights--our joke is that there is nothing Brent cannot do.

Description of Work: I hired Brent a few years ago, to primarily do tile work and additional cosmetic upgrades when I bought my townhouse. I had an extensive entry/foyer/laundry room, kitchen, and a half-bathroom that required all new tiles. Aside from the half-bathroom; the rest of the locations had the same 18x18 tiles installed. Although the same type of tile, each tile hand an individual and unique look to it; no one tile was identical. What impressed me so much about Brent was that he spent a considerable amount of time placing each large tile down and stepping back to find a sense of uniformity and alignment. This resulted in constant moving and shifting of these tiles. I would not have even thought about such a detail as this. When he showed me, and explained what he did; I was thoroughly impressed and touched that he would even take the time to think of a detail such as this. See the attached picture to see what I mean. I am sure someone else would have just laid down each tile without any thought to alignment and uniformity.
