We hired boston standard for an annual heating and AC maintenance program. We've also used them for a couple small plumbing jobs and were very satisfied.

Joe diagnosed the problem and tightened one of the parts and finished in 10 minutes. When I made the appointment, I was told the service charge was $99 and that covered up to an hour of work. However, I was charged $99 plus $171.88 as a "diagnostic fee." This is the minimum that they charge for a diagnostic fee. So, if you're not concerned about cost, I recommend Boston Standard. If you don't want to pay a minimum of $271.88 no matter how small the job, I recommend you call someone else.

Perfectly. The office gave me a 2-hour window that the technician might arrive between 10-12. Ceasar arrived promptly at 10 and from the very beginning he was kind, professional, patient and educational. He shared with me what he learned about our boiler from his assessment that we knew nothing about and proceeded to give recommendations on how to maintain one properly. He interacted with our 2-year old son and made me feel very confident and comfortable with work that I admit I know nothing about as a first-time homeowner.

Overall quite well, and the installers were very friendly and professional. Though management was a bit pushy on the the HEAT loan processing side. We opted to take the long by the book process and they allowed us to keep their window AC units for about two months while the loan was processed.

Excellent service, quickly scheduled appointment with prompt arrival and installation. Due to complications with my basement a crew was scheduled to come by the following morning to retrieve the old heater.

It went very well. They were excellent. They came out on the 2nd and evaluated what they had to do. The first thing, the big work was approximately $8,700 and then I had them out again on August 8th and had them do the cleaning and service for the second zone and system, which was another two hundred and some odd dollars. I had to have one whole new air conditioner replaced. So by the time I was through, I paid $9,000. When I called them, they were out within 24 hours. Whenever I had the appointment set up, they were here. They were excellent. It's a wonderful crew. They even put the booties onto their feet before they walked into my house because it's all hardwood floors and very clean.

To receive an estimate costs $90. IF I hire them they will put it towards the work. Ripoff.

They are local in Dorchester and they are professional and offer quality services. You'll pay, however. They charge me $54 per month for the service contract, which is $648 annually. That includes one furnace tune up in fall, 1 A/C check in spring, and 1 hot water heater tune up (hot water is tankless and most companies won't do it). They also offer contract customers 10% off plumbing, with priority service and 24 hour service. That's good. However, you'll have to WAIT for your annual appointments. It's January and I'm still waiting for my fall tune up, because they were fully booked through Xmas, exempting mid-day appointments I'd have had to miss work for. That's a downside. Otherwise, their admins are the best and they offer a good, quality service - price is high though!

They were extremely friendly and professional. They explained everything they did and what they found wrong with the system and gave their professional opinion on what to do with/for my system going forward. They even notice a potential hazard with the venting on my tankless water heater. I am planning to have them come back asap to resolve that issue. I would highly recommend this company!

Leo was very knowledgeable and thorough when both walking through the home and in his written estimates. The estimates themselves were significantly higher than other companies however ($22,000 for 4 a/c units & 2 pumps in a 1,00 0sq.ft. home).

The gentleman showed up from the company saw what would have to be done... informed me that he is going to email me a quote over the weekend which he did.... I emailed him back with some specific questions and I've told him that I needed to get this done ASAP… I've called numerous times asking his secretary to call me back she tells me she would relay the message but has not and he hasn't called me back so I'm all set

I called on a 40-degree Saturday because my heat was out. I live two blocks away from this business and knew exactly what needed to be done and which part was needed. The answering service immediately asked if I was a service plan customer, and when I said no, she said, "After hours, they only take their service plan customers. Sorry." I was given no further information and no alternative recommendations. This company erroneously advertises 24/7 and emergency service, which is why I called. This is misleading. The company should specify that only certain customers can receive 24/7 and emergency service, and they also should equip their answering service with emergency recommendations for people who need them.

I didn't dislike anything. I think it was very good. My interaction with them was very good. The work was very good. They were excellent. It was pricey.

Very professional, I have an older system and he made suggestions without pressure and I felt like all the pricing was fair. Was told they offer a maintenance plan for about 30 a month and we could keep my system in good working order for the next few years. Much more pleasant to work with than many of the "scare tactic" providers around here. We will be using them again!

They have come to my house eight or nine times over the years. They have been my plumber. They are professional and do good work when they come. I find that they are a little unorganized when it comes to getting an on time estimate. I talked to one guy about the estimate, and then I talked to another guy about the furnace. When came time to install the furnace, he couldn't install that particular furnace, because the other guy and him didn't communicate. He had to install a less energy efficient furnace at the last minute. They had an issue with communication. One time they were going install a toilet, there was an issue, and they said that they would come back and fix it. They never did. They are really good, and they do good work when they come. They are just disorganized. They were a little expensive. I might use them again because, my options are limited.

I have nothing but great things to say about the whole team I worked with at Boston Standard Plumbing. From the initial questions of 'should I install ductless A/C', to the first meeting and dealing with the staff at the office, who ensured appointments were scheduled in a timely manner, confirmed and always received a follow-up, to ensure my satisfaction. During the time it took to install my system, the team members, were polite, timely, clean and ensured minimal intrusion to my home/work life. Their electrician was able to make the smallest cuts necessary in my walls, which was easily patched and looks as good as new. I highly recommend working with Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating and will use them for any/all work I need carried out in the future.

First off, let me say that I have never had a company that has presented themselves so professionally when having tradesmen at my house for work. They were a few minutes early to the service call and before even stepping into the house were already laying down cloths and putting work booties over their shoes to keep my house clean. They treated my house like it was their own. After their initial examination of the problem areas, they were quick to explain the problems verbally and visually and letting me know what was wrong and why it needed to be replaced. If i didn't understand what they were talking about they were great by re-wording and explaining until I understood. This to me goes a long way in the service industry. Most contractors come in like a hot mess and leave the same way. Up until the last bolt was secured the team conducted themselves in a professional and approachable manner that made me confident I made the right decision hiring them. Boston Standard goes beyond the call of duty and does something better than any other contractor that I have ever hired. They listen to the customer!!! The all the small and big details they take to ensure a successful job are bar none better than some others I will not mention.

I had a great experience - called them about a week ago and got their phone service. The guy on call (ray) called back about 30 minutes later and went over the options and pricing. $220 to come out is steep but it is my only toilet. While he was out he quoted my front hose which had been leaking for at least a year, they came back during regular hours and did that and now I have a new shutoff inside to stop it from breaking next time.. yay!?! I also had a bum sprayer on my kitchen faucet and asked them to give me a price to fix it but they told me that Kohler has a great warranty. They send a pic to them and got me the parts name etc... I called Kohler myself and they shipped it out for free :) Lastly, did a maintenance plan for my hvac that give me a good discount if I have any issues this coming season, which is great.

needed a new heating/cooling system but was nervous about taking on such a big job. I met with Joe, who quelled my fears during a walkthrough of my home. He reviewed options and recommended the best choice for my house. He explained how the job would be done and assured me of the 'white glove' service I would receive. John and Gorin showed up on day one. With great respect for me and my home, they began the job with introductions and an explanation of the work they would be doing. They prepped by covering their shoes upon entry, laid padded protective cloths on the floors. My nerves disappeared. I knew I was in great hands. John and Gorin worked diligently through the week. Their professionalism, knowledge and wonderful personalities built my confidence in them. Always prompt, always cleaned the house to perfection each day before they left. I can't sing their praises enough. John and Gorin bravo to you both! Upon completion, Joe returned to my home for another walkthrough. He taught me how to use the system efficiently. Called Boston Standard at 10:00AM Saturday and disposal was replaced by 12:30PM. Problem solved. Andrew came promptly at the scheduled time. Tried three other Angie's List plumbers first, none of them could do the work that day. For us, the extra emergency rate (which all plumbers would have charged) was worth it.
