I couldn't be happier with our decision to use Wired for this job. First, the bid was lower than the other we got. Second, they kept me up-to-date with the scheduling of the job, which was complicated by the need for good weather and for both the power company and the electrical inspector to be available. The job was done neatly and professionally. All three Wired electricians that worked at our house were friendly, professional, and very respectful of our home. And as a final bonus, our bill was actually lower than estimated - when they discovered that the construction of our home meant they didn't need to do a step, they told me and deducted the materials and labor for it off of my bill. All that, plus they warranty their work. I highly recommend this company.

It went very well. I was able to get a price for the service over the phone. Some electricians wanted to charge me money-along with costing me some time- to come out and give me a quote. The service was completed in 30 min. Paul was nice, He was one of the few people I've had come into my house to perform work that did not look a little rough around the edges, like they could have spent some time in jail. He's the kind of guy you don't mind leaving in your house alone with your wife and baby. His initial response to my inquiry was very prompt. My one complaint was that I after I replied to his email with my availability, I had to call him back after a few days because I had not heard from him. I plan on using him again.

In late August, I sent a message through Angie's List to get an estimate for the work to be done. Paul responded within a few hours and set up an appointment to do an in-person estimate the next week. He provided a quote for the work on that visit. The thing that really impressed me (and stuck with me) was Paul's attention to detail. He took care to protect the hardwood floors by using shoe covers (without me even asking). He noted deviations from electrical code (radon fan installation--more below) that other electricians didn't even note. He recommended installing a remote receiver for the bedroom fan so that the fan could be controlled without having to get up and pull the chain. Since our attic access is very limited, we didn't really have the option of installing separate controls for the fan and light. Once we'd picked out ceiling fans (seriously, the hardest part of the whole process--there are a *lot* of fans out there), Paul scheduled us within a week. The night before, Paul emailed to say that he had a meeting that morning and would send Alexander and Jeremy. On the date of the appointment, Alexander and his apprentice, Jeremy, arrived at my house at 8:00 am for an 8am appointment. Alexander ran down the list of things to be done, and I showed him and Jeremy the rooms in which they would be working. Just as Paul had done, both Alexander and Jeremy took care to protect the floors from their outdoor shoes. The ceiling fans: They were quick to get to work, protecting the floors in the bedroom and foyer with drop cloths before removing the old light fixtures. The ceiling fans and lights work great. Alexander showed me how to enable/disable the dimming feature on the remote. He had noted that the LED bulbs we'd selected didn't dim smoothly and suggested that we could turn off the dimming feature to avoid bulb flicker. (The bulbs were rated as dimmable, but my experience with dimmable LEDs is that they're kind of hit-and-miss as to whether they'll work smoothly with any particular dimmer.) The basement lights: The basement had five lights that I wanted to come on all together when I flipped the switch at the top of the stairs. Originally, one light was switched, with the other four on pull string controls. Now, when I go to the basement, all I have to do is flip one switch and the whole space lights up. In the process of wiring the lights together, they noted that one of the original porcelain fixtures was cracked, so they replaced it. The radon fan: We had a radon fan installed about 5 years ago by a radon fan installer. He had plugged the fan into the base of a light socket in a storage area in the basement. The plug prevented the light cage from fitting around the light, and we wanted to make sure the cage would fit and protect the light from being hit with a box. During Paul's estimate, he'd commented that this was not considered as standard in the electrical code. So we're now up to code with an outside switch for the radon fan, which means that when the fan needs to be replaced, (a) the person will know that the power is off to the fan, since the switch is right there where the fan is, and (b) the person won't have to come into the house to do anything for the fan. The switch looks nice, and Alexander sealed it with a paintable silicone caulk so that it's all water-tight. Swapping circuit breakers: Between getting the initial quote and having the work done, we decided that we wanted to make all of the circuit breakers match the electrical panel. We had a number of breakers that were differently branded and could have been a liability if there had been a fire. (Apparently, insurance companies inspect the circuit boxes and if there's a mismatch between the brand of breaker and panel, they won't pay claims.) Paul had said he'd provide an estimate when he came to do the other work. Because Paul wasn't there, Alexander texted the number and type of breakers to Paul in the morning. Just after they had completed the other work and left, Alexander called to give me the quote. When I agreed to the amount, he said they'd be back just as soon as they were done with lunch. Within about 20 minutes, Alexander and Jeremy were back at my house replacing breakers. In the garage, they even noted the presence of an additional circuit that could be used for a portable generator or other large appliance (maybe even an electric car charger) in the future. Overall, Alexander and Jeremy were very nice to work with, as well as competent. I have had many people work on the house since we bought it, and none of them have been as polite and generally pleasant as Alexander & Jeremy (and Paul, though he didn't do any work in the house). They took care to protect the house from damage, and they cleaned up after themselves. I know who I'm hiring when I need an electrician in the future!

So A week before moving into our new home, the power goes out in our master bedroom and bathroom. Our electrician scheduled for a day before moving in suffers an accident and is hospitalized. I used Angie's List to find Paul, who was able to schedule a same day service. Our bathroom light/fan was controlled by a dimmer switch which caused the power outage. The real problem also is the outlets, which were installed with backstabbed wires when house was built in 1983, and are now showing signs of wear. Paul was very thorough and identified the problem. He knows his stuff.
Description of Work: Fixed outlet and switch that were causing power outage in master bedroom and bathroom. Checked system to determine problem. Outlets were installed incorrectly when house was built, causing burnt wires. Will have house upgraded by Paul in future.

We just moved into our condo, and had painters coming to begin work in two days and when Paul stopped by to give us his electrical estimate, he was willing to stay to remove some clunky ceiling and bathroom wall lights we weren't keeping so the ceilings and walls could be finished more completely. When coming back to do the estimated electrical work later, Paul and his associate, Alexander were very professional, friendly and efficient in their work together. They always explained what they were doing and made some great suggestions for making our home safer --- including trouble-shooting and fixing unsafe wiring done by another electrician sometime in the past in one of our bedrooms. I will definitely call Paul whenever I need electrical help!

Paul did a great job! First of all, he said that he would call me at 9:30 in the morning to give me a better idea of what time he would be there. At exactly 9:30, he called and said that he would be there between 10:30 and 11 am. Sure enough, at 10:45 am, he was at my house. It was a fairly quick job to move the wires to the attic (under an hour), but Paul had to deal with the hot attic and insulation. He moved the box of wires and said that he corrected a few things that the electrician had done during our kitchen renovation. Paul was a very nice guy and, upon seeing my young girls, he spoke of his three young daughters at home. As a woman who is often home with my children when people come to work in my house, feeling safe and comfortable is very important to me. Overall, Paul was extremely courteous and prompt, and I feel confident in his work. I would absolutely call Paul again!
Description of Work: After renovating our kitchen, there was a cap covering the wires where the light fixture used to be in the center of our kitchen ceiling. I asked Paul to cut the wires since we were no longer going to have a lighting fixture there. Paul took one look and said that he could tell there were other lights attached to those wires, and he suggested that he move the wire box to the attic instead.

It went great. They responded to my request to come and check out the breaker issue in particular and I had a few other things that I needed and they addressed all of them. Very happy with their service and quality of work. I have more work which I will bring them back for when I get a chance.
Description of Work: I was having breaker issues with one area of my condo since I moved in. They replaced the breaker and I have not had an issue since. They also replaced my smoke detector, installed a new outlet in my utility closet and adjusted the face plates in the kitchen which were not correctly adjusted when the previous owners did a DIY job on the kitchen backsplash.

Paul responded promptly to my request for an estimate through Angie's List. He came out to discuss the job within a very reasonable time. I was impressed with his professionalism and knowledge of what needed to be done for my particular needs. It was a complicated job due to not having an existing circuit to wire into and also due to the location of my deck in relation to the electrical panel in the basement. He figured everything out and came up with a good plan. His wife went into labor the night before he and his partner were to come out and get started on the job, but he didn't cancel. He sent his partner out to get started and do what he could on his own on Friday. Paul and his partner both came back on Monday morning and worked in the rain (they even brought their own canopy to set up on the deck to work without getting wet). They got the job done to my satisfaction and cleaned up the deck when they were done. The hot tub has been working great ever since and I am very happy with the job Paul did. I would definitely recommend Wired Electrical to anyone wanting a speedy, professional job done well. Thanks for allowing me to enjoy my wonderful hot tub, Paul!
Description of Work: Wiring for new hot tub on deck. Had to install sub-panel in basement, as all of the circuits were being used. Sent wire down under the deck and house to panel in basement. Made hole in deck under hot tub for wire to come up and connect with hot tub.

In a time of crisis, Paul arrived promptly and understood the level of concern that we had for the situation. He spent a lot of time with us to ensure we could have power for the night and regain full functionality, even replacing all of the breakers that were wet, already damaged and/or blown. The panel was obviously shot and poorly installed originally. He presented the full facts regarding the concerns for the panel and provided a long term solution that was backed by an equally long term warranty. At no time did I feel that he misrepresented the situation nor attempted to put me into an unwarranted repair. I would most certainly use him again. Probably first to install some sort of ice-dam heater prevention system.
Description of Work: Due to snowmageddon 2015, water was leaking into the electrical panel causing damage/shorts to breakers. Paul came to the house within an hour to assess the damage, replace the wet breakers and set the panel up with a temporary fix to prevent further leaking/damage for the night. The next day, he returned with an associate to install a new panel and sub-panel.

It worked beautifully. They were wonderful. They actually found a problem that would have caused a fire and I know it is true because I could see the cringing of the wires since there was water entering the electric box so they took care of it. It was really good. They gave us 4 estimates to repair it and we hired them to do it. They were very professional, just excellent I cannot say enough about them. The insurance inspector came in and said that he thought that the price was tiny bit high but nothing to complain about. We were actually able to charge out insurance for it because it was hidden thing and we could not see it since it was behind the electrical panel. Price wise I did not get another estimate so it is very difficult to compare. They did a lot of work and they were here for 8 solid hours. They were just 2 electricians and they were just excellent. In fact on the initial work that we bought the Big Deal they actually did some repair just some minor stuff, just to keep us safe, like keeping the wires out of the water. They just did that even before they gave us the estimate on the repair job. So I was very impressed.
Description of Work: They put in a whole new electrical box, they did home grounding, surge protecting, and put a new pole outside with the wires in it.

First I have replaced a GFI in laundry closet, but it did not fix my problem, and sought help from Wired Electrical contractors. They very punctual, friendly and knowledgeable on the job. They diagnosed it to be a defective circuit breaker and fixed the problem. After few weeks a GFI tripped and they showed up without charging any additional diagnosis charges. They found the GFI is defective and replaced it well. I felt the over all pricing is a bit high for the job, but for the quality of work and the detailed information, I would definitely recommend them and hire them if required.

Paul was great. I called him randomly about my electrical issue in the laundry area and explained to him how i hadn't been able to use my dryer for over 2 weeks and asked if you could squeeze me in ASAP. He told me that he would try to re-arrange his schedule and would try to stop by to take look in a few hours. 2 hours later he showed up and inspected the electrical system in the house. Spent a little more time and immediately he knew the wires were cut off. After spending a good amount of time, he was able to find out exactly where the wires were cut and re-wired them back. He even went above and beyond as he realized this was a mistake made by a roofing company that did some work for me prior. He worked with the roofing company and was able to convince it was a mistake by them and as a result they paid for the bill. Paul is great and a very honest businessman. I'm very pleased with his service and price. I'm certainly looking forward to continue doing business with him in the future.

He was trying to charge a unreasonable price and was rude. So did not end up doing it.
Description of Work: Paul told me on the phone that he did not charge by hour when I asked him what his rate was. I had a feeling that it is going to be expensive but it's ok with me as long as it's reasonable. He came over and ask for a just simple wiring job for $175. When I asked him how long it would take his answer was 15 mins. When I questioned him why so much and he rudely resposed: I am not here to bargain. Well, I am not here to get ripped off also. I was going to ask him for 3 light fixtures and would probably get ripped of for $500 for 45 minutes if he did. We all shouldn't get ripped off like this. Probably celebrity lawyers charge this much.

(member name removed), not only did I tell you I did not charge by the hour I also told you the exact dollar amount you would pay for the work you explained. After we had this conversation you still request that I come to your home which we did, and in fact we arrive within 45 minutes from the time you called, so I am a little confused as to why you rated us a C on punctuality. Lastly, I am sorry if you feel my unwillingness to bargain with you on the price was rude, I simply don't have the time for this type of dealing as we stay extremely busy working for customers who are very appreciative of our services.

His first visit was very prompt and he discovered that the fault was underground very quickly. Due to other appointments, he had to return a week later to begin digging to find the actual cut in the line. The lawn was left in very good condition and you can hardly find the spot in the lawn now. Mr. Crowley also provided excellent documentation for Verizon so that I could seek reimbursement.
