Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

It went fine. They come quickly and do the job quite well. The prices seem to be a bit high but we did have it done over the weekend. They gave us a $50 discount on the second drain since we had both done at the same time. I didn't ask for an estimate on the phone since I had used them in the past I had an idea of what it would cost.

I had them come out to look at this, he removed the toilet and fixed the leak. At some time during this process he cracked the tile around the toilet, and did not tell me. He tried to charge me 272.64 but I put my foot down and said I will not pay much money. We settled on 195.00, however I give them credit they did come out on a weekend on the same day, they were pleasant, and nice. It just seemed that there might have been a little bit of a mark up. My tile is broke and my toilet is crooked, so I did not have a pleasant experience.

They came when they said they were going to come. They did what they said they were going to do. They charged what they said they were going to charge.

The basement sink, which we have barely used since moving here a year ago was backing up and it looked like a lot of stuff that may have been there a while. At 4:55 pm on a Friday, we called the corporate number and they said they would send someone right out in less than an hour to look and give an estimate. They would not give us a ball park over the phone. The guy arrived in about 30 minutes and proceeded to fully assess the situation, including all other cause and effect possibilities (other sinks or toilet). He determined where the clog was, opened up the main drain and snaked it to the street. He also gave us good advice about products NOT to use (caustic drain openers like Draino) and suggested some more environmentally responsible alternatives for drain maintenance. He was working for almost 2 hours. The price was a bit high, but you know what, it was taken care of promptly, no worries over the weekend.

They came out on Super Bowl Sunday on short notice. They only charged their normal Sunday fee even though it was a special Sunday and an emergency.

We called Roto Rooter on New Years Eve at 2pm. They phone rep said they could have someone there in 30 minutes. Great! I asked about the charges and they said we would be provided an estimate before any work was done. I asked if they could give me an idea and they said they didnt. The plumber arrives within the 30 minutes as promised. Now, I had already removed the drain pipe trying to clear it and left it open for easy access. The plumber quotes $310 AFTER a discount! So I figure this is going to be a tough job and approve. Its New Years Eve. What else am I going to do. He finishes in 10 Minutes! 10 MINUTES! And charges me the $310. I complained but had no choice. I signed the agreement. I paid and he left. Now you do the math... thats almost $1800 an hour! I called Roto and my messages went unanswered. After speaking to some other plumbers they said I was robbed at gun point! They all charge aprox $45 for a house call and $125/hr. If you call Roto Rooter, prepare to get rootered!

I called on an emergency basis in the early evening. They scheduled a truck within a few hours. When asked for a ball park price, the company would give no estimates over the phone. They said if I am not happy after the technician makes his assessment, I can refuse the service. They charge by the job and the evening call did not affect the price. The technician arrived looked at the drain and instantly quoted $345 and after 10pm it would be $60 more.

They arrived within a few hours of my contact. He did extremely good work in a relatively short amount of time. I was so pleased at their quick response time. The plumber was very cordial and professional. The pricing was a little high in my standards.

After calling several times and making several appointments which they came late for, they finally came and did the work. The people that came were polite and professional however when I called the customer service number, they really didnt seem to care. I just dont think that I will be using them again.

At about 8 p.m. on a Sunday evening the toilet and shower in our basement began to back up. I had heard from a neighbor who had experienced a similar problem that the cause was a clog in the sewer pipe leading from our building out to the city sewer. The neighbor had called Roto-Rooter. I immediately called our area Roto-Rooter. They showed up at 10:30 p.m. and had the clog removed by 12 a.m.

The plumber arrived promptly, accompanied by a person he was training. They worked several hours and completed the job; everything works fine now. He answered my questions about why the bathtub part malfunctioned when we had redone the bathroom 20 years ago (we had raised four children in another house and no plumbing problems arose). He explained that the advances that took place since then also had drawbacks, started to go into detail, but as this was too technical for me, I was just grateful that everything worked again. I am unsure of the plumber's name, as the writing on the invoice is unclear; it looks like Kris Pedesca, and his number is 1107. Scheduled over the internet. Received a call from corporate within the hour saying they would be here between 12 and 5. Called at 12:15 saying they were on their way. Four hours later I called to check their ETA. I was told that the technician never received his page and they would see what they could do for me. They arrived after 6pm. The technician quickly snaked the drain and all was well. Took the time to explain the drain that I have in my older house. Replaced the cap for the whole house trap.

He came in, took a look at what he needed to do, got the equipment, and was in and out. I like it when people know what they are going to do and come in and do it.

THEY WERE PUNCTUAL AND NICE. THIS WAS A TOUGH JOB, WE HAD TO HIRE 3 MORE PLUMBERS, AND PAY MORE THAN $450 AS THOSE OTHER 3 PLUMBERS CHARGED US (THE LAST ONE DID THE JOB, BUT THE OTHER TWO DIDN'T, AND YET THEY CHARGED US). SO I LIKE THE POLICY OF ROTO-ROOTER FOR CHARGING FOR THE JOB, AND NOT FOR THE TIMES WHEN THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS A CLOG OF FOOD OF ABOUT 8 FT LONG. THIS CLOG WAS PROBABLY MORE THAN 5 METERS AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN SINK.

ROTO ROOTER CUSTOMER SERVICE GOING DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!!!!!!!! I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH ROTO ROOTER. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEIR COMPANY CAN CONTINUE TO TOUT A 24 HOURS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK MARKETING CAMPAIGN WHEN THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I LOST 2 VACATION DAYS FROM WORK WAITING FOR THEIR TECHS TO SHOW, THEN THEY CANCELLED. THEN LOST ANOTHER DAY WAITING FOR A TECH TO SHOW, JUST TO CANCEL AGAIN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. ROTO ROOTER WAS CLEARLY IN THE WRONG. THE FIRST TECH ON THE SCENE MIS-DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, ACTUALLY MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE, AND THEN WOULD NOT RESPOND TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. ROTO ROOTER WAS UN-COOPERATIVE IN SENDING SOMEONE OUT AGAIN. THEY WOULD CONTINUALLY SCHEDULE A TECH FOR DAYS, WE WOULD WAIT, AND TO NO AVAIL. MEANWHILE, WE HAD WATER LEAKING THROUGH THE CEILING TO THE FLOOR BELOW, AND DAMAGE BEING DONE, WHICH THEIR TECH DID EXACERBATE WITH THE MIS-DIAGNOSIS.

PROMPT RESPONSE ON THE PHONE, SAME DAY SERVICE OFFERED, WHICH WAS VERY CONVENIENT. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF NOT ASKING FOR RATES WHEN I CALLED. THE PERSON WHO SHOWED UP WAS PROFESSIONAL, BATHROOM REMAINED CLEAN AFTER THE JOB WAS DONE. HE GAVE ME SOME ADVICE BUT THE BILL WAS A SHOCKER AND I HAD TO PAY IT AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.

GILBERT CLEANED UP WONDERFULLY AFTER HIMSELF, AND WAS VERY INSISTENT ON EXPLAINING EVERY DETAIL TO ME - SOMETHING I APPRECIATED VERY MUCH, AS A FIRST-TIME HOME OWNER. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT AFTER GILBERT LEFT, HE CALLED 10 MIN LATER TO CONFIRM THAT DISPATCH HAD SCHEDULED A SECOND APPOINTMENT WITH ME ON MONDAY. HE SEEMED CONFUSED THAT THEY HADN'T.... AND, IN FACT, THEY NEVER DID. I HAD TO CALL THEM ON MONDAY, AND THEY HAD NOTHING FOR ME UNTIL TUESDAY. ALTHOUGH THAT WAS FRUSTRATING, OVERALL, MY EXPERIENCE WAS VERY SATISFYING.

PROMPT AND EFFICIENT SERVICE. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE FOR THE FOLLOWING MORNING. I RECEIVED A CALL THAT MORNING LETTING ME KNOW WHEN THE PLUMBER WAS ON HIS WAY. THE PLUMBER WAS POLITE, TOLD ME THE PRICES UP FRONT, AND EVEN OFFERED A FEW WORDS OF ADVICE. I HAVE HAD A FEW HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS COMPLETED OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND I WISH THAT THEY HAD ALL GONE SO SMOOTHLY. THE ONLY THING THAT PREVENTS A'S ACROSS THE BOARD WAS THAT THE BILL WAS A LITTLE ON THE PRICEY SIDE. (INCLUDING A 10% ANGIE'S LIST COUPON ON THE TUB DRAIN WORK)

LANCE THE PLUMBER CAME ON TIME (A HUGE PLUS WITH ME IN ANY SITUATION), WAS POLITE, HELPFUL. HAD NO REAL "EXPLANATION" OF WHY PROBLEM OCCURRED. NO FEE CHARGED.

SERVICEMAN WAS POLITE, ASKED TO USE BULKHEAD ENTRANCE SO AS NOT TO TRACK THROUGH HOUSE, LEFT AREA CLEAN. COST WAS APPROPRIATE, SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT OF 25.00, I THINK...NOT SURE OF AMOUNT.

ROTO ROOTER PROMPTLY RETURNED MY CALL AND WAS AT MY HOUSE WITHIN ONE HOUR. THE PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF WITHIN HALF AN HOUR. IT WAS A LITTLE COSTLY BECAUSE IT WAS A SUNDAY BUT I APPRECIATED THEIR RESPONSE.

THEY WOULDN'T GIVE A PHONE QUOTE. THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP WHEN SAID THEY WOULD. WHEN I CALLED, THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE FIRST SERVICE CALL. THEIR ESTIMATE WAS $230 FOR A JOB A PLUMBER DID THE SAME DAY FOR $75.

THE PLUMBER RESPONDED QUICKLY AND WAS ON TIME. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE PLUMBER, NOT A PROFESSIONAL. HE DID NOT HAVE TOOLS AND THE COST WAS HIGH. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

NO SHOW, NO CALL ON DAY OF APPOINTMENT. I RECEIVED A CALL FOUR DAYS LATER ASKING IF I STILL NEEDED THEM TO COME OUT. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL NOT BE CALLING THEM AGAIN, WILL GO THE LOCAL PLUMBER ROUTE FROM NOW ON.

I TOOK A DAY OFF WORK FOR A MORNING APPOINTMENT. I THEN CALLED AROUND NOON AND THEN 1:30 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PLUMBER WAS DELAYED. AT NO TIME DID THE "DISPATCHER" CALL TO ADVISE ME OF THE DELAY. AFTER BEING TOLD HE COULD NOT COME ON THAT DAY, I MADE IT A POINT TO SPEAK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER WHO MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE PLUMBER TO ADJUST HIS SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY. THE WORK WAS DONE LATE AFTERNOON THAT DAY. THE WORK WAS WELL DONE AND THE PLUMBER WAS QUITE COURTEOUS. THE DELAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO ME BY DISPATCH WITHOUT MY HAVING TO CALL THEM! ALSO, I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO GO TO THE GENERAL MANAGER TO REACH SOME ACCOMMODATION!!!
