Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

The plumber came to my door 45 minutes after I called Roto-Rooter. He was courteous, professional, knowledgable, gave us options, quoted the price right away, performed the service efficiently and did not leave a mess. He used a power snake to cut and pull roots from the drain and then flushed it. The drain is now cleared. He also told us what we might want to consider in the future to prevent problems but did not put any pressure on us whatsoever to perform more work than was necessary today.

the plumber was most pleasant.Very efficient--courteous. Used them many times. Price appeared out of line with labor for about an hours' work but the results were highly satisfactory, and the plumber was most pleasant and courteous.

We had a plumbing emergency at night, and a Roto Rooter guy came and checked it out. He did not have the right equipment to finish the job, but another person came first thing in the morning and sorted it out. He was quick and professional. Both of the plumbers were very personable and able to explain exactly what work needed to be done and why to my satisfaction.

It was an interesting experience. I foster care for some cats and let them in their bathroom since it has a more open space. The guy came out and tried to rooter the drain and we found out it was a hard plastic ball in the drain. Once he knew what was causing the block, he was able to unclog the block pretty quick.

My tenants drain was clogged and all the stuff from the toilet was backing up into the bathtub. My son usually handles these situations but was anavailable at the time. Obviously, this was a situation that couldn't wait a week for his return, so I called Roto-Rooter as their TV ads were stuck in my mind. The guy came out, sat in his truck and told me to have the septic tank pumped out; never even got out of his truck to see what might be wrong. I did as I was told and had the septic tank pumped out but it did not correct the problem. I had to have my son make an emergency trip home as this couldn't wait. It turned out that there was a bottle cap stuck in the drainpipe and had been there for some time collecting hair and the like and was clogging the drain. Simple fix, but I will absolutely NEVER call Roto-Rooter again for any reason. LMB, Millville, MA

But they said that they couldn't reschedule today so it would have to be the next day. This, after keeping me waiting from "first thing" in the morning! So I called someone else and got them out there within a little over an hour and they did a fine job. I would never use Roto Rooter again - thoroughly unprofessional and unreliable.Their 24/7 emergency service claim is a complete joke and they shouldn't be allowed to make it.

We live in a three story condo. One morning our kitchen sink was backed up and we could not get it unclogged. We called Roto Rooter and Stephen came over to take a look. He initially thought it was our garbage disposal that had backed up. He quoted us a price of approximately $380 and started vacuuming out the backup. Well poop started coming out when he started vacuuming. He went down to the basement and determined that for some reason, the second floor toilet line connects to the same line as our kitchen sink and something had clogged way down in the main line and backed up into our kitchen sink. It took him over two hours to get the clog out and the price was still less than $400 (the $50 extra was for a commercial pipe shield we purchased). The Roto Rooter technician, Stephen, was very friendly and knowledgeable. We could not have asked for a better plumber. As for the price, I think any plumber you call is going to be expensive especially if it is the weekend. We got lucky that we called Roto Rooter in this instance because we were charged a fixed rater and not by the hour. The one thing that annoyed me was that after we put in the service call, a woman from Roto Rooter called and said that a technician was on his way. So we figured that meant 5-10 minutes, but he did not show up for another hour. It would have been better if she had not called to tell us that he was on his way. Overall though we were very pleased with Roto Rooters' service.

They were great. They came at night and fixed the problem and left. Did a great job.

drain is cleared - but the price seemed too high

Company called and said they are still on a difficult job and wouldn't be here at 1:30 but will call when they leave for our appointment. They finally got here at about 5PM. After initial test for clog, Joe determined that it was a clog below the toilet bowl further down in the piping. He asked for newspaper to spread on the floor, and proceed to remove the bowl. check and clean it outside and then used the motorized router to fund the clog which he did. He then replaced the bowl and replaced the old water line, addes new washers, and replaced the flapper hardware to a modern, higher flush power valve. Joe, then cleaned up the entire bathroom floor and replaced all items removed from the floor. The bathroom floor was cleaned, everything tested and all worked well. I will say that in the course of using Angie's List in the past year for a plumber and electrician, I had asked after the job s well done how they all learned their skills. All three (including Joe) said they had graduated from Worcester Tech High School. Kdos to the high school and to all three men for a job well taught and learned. Yes I'd use them again.

The prices of Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain were pretty expensive. Everything was good except for the price.

Called Roto Rooter to correct a drain problem with our bathroom drain. As we were in an emergency situation we accepted an outrageous price and signed a contract to get the work done but with an agreement that we would pay nothing if they were unable to fix the problem. The service person was not very well trained and so was unable to correct the problem so we sent him packing. Shortly after he left, the owner of the unit below ours called to tell us that water was pouring down through her ceiling into her bathroom. I ensured that no more water could drain down on her and called Roto Rooter back to send a Real Plumber out to fix the problem and was told that the contract we had signed absolved them of any damage they might have called, which I discovered was correct when I read the contract’s small print. I was never able to get them to respond again calling them several times and finally had to call a Real plumber to come out and repair the leak and correct the original plumbing problem; the Real plumber was able to correct everything for less than half the price that Roto Rooter originally wanted to charge. As it turned out the leaking drain was actually caused by really corroded drain pipes that would have broken regardless of the incompetence of the Roto Rooter serviceman and was coincidental; but he was incompetent, their pricing was outrageous, their contract very devious, and they were totally non-responsive. I would never call them again, and would strongly recommend no one else ever call them.

They did a great job and came out in a timely fashion.

They were friendly, competent and when they had to come back, they did it and I had no problems. They did have to come back the next day, but they did come back and they solved the problem.

Bad. Not happy with their services and luck of honesty.

Made an appointment online via their website on a Friday Evening and was thrilled with how easy and simple the process was to schedule a call for Saturday morning. Verification was immediate via email cell phone. The two hour window came down to a 45 minute window with a call from the dispatch to let me know the driver was on his way. He arrived within 15 minutes and set out to clear the drains in the bathroom sink and bathtub. Aaron was very nice and polite, explained everything, cost etc. Drains were unclogged in record time, and Aaron cleaned up the work area as well. All in all, a great and positive experience. Time and time we hear horror stories about plumbers, drain cleaning companies, etc. This certainly was NOT one of those stories! Very happy and very pleased with Roto Rooter and Aaron.

I will tell everyone I know to NEVER hire this company.

The plumber came to the house on time and said he wanted $375 to clear the clog. We said NO, and he decreased the price to $180. That was still far too high, we thought, but we agreed. He then said that a ring on the pipe broke when he was working on it, and that would cost more. We said, NO, and he replaced the ring for no extra charge. Although the plumber was very courteous, the money negotiation made it very challenging. We should have just had him leave and called someone else, as we didn't have to have the clog taken care of immediately.

Having a dinner party for 30 when the drained clogged. Hired a plumber come who couldn't reach it. Called roto rooter and they sent Gilbert Damas, a professional, friendly savior. It took 2 hours, but Gilbert was patient and kept us calm. Finally ... Success! Could not say enough about Gilbert!

I made an appt on line. The day of the service I received a call from Roto Rooter telling me the service person would arrive in 45 minutes, which he did, approx 1/2 hr earlier than scheduled. Steven H. was terrific- professional, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and took the time to do lots of teaching. He even made me a tool! I received a substantial discount which was extremely helpful.

We called on a Sunday and scheduled service because we were told there was no Sunday surcharge, and they would provide a free no-obligation estimate for the repair. The tech was polite and punctual, he took about 5 minutes to troubleshoot the reason we had no hot water and reset a breaker inside the unit on the temperature control unit. He spent more time in the truck determining what to charge us than he did in our house. I have no problem paying for someone's time, but "free estimate" turned into "$174 for 5 minutes" pretty quickly

They are absolutely awful. I read some negative reviews about them unfortunately, only after I used them. They spent an hour and a half under the sink and that surprised me a bit. At sixty-five years old, I probably should have asked but I never had to before because I didn’t realize people charge by the job. The plumber did three quarter of an hour’s job and he wanted $350 a piece. They were overly expensive. The guy was very pleasant but he told me that this is what they do and this is how they charge. I even called their headquarters in Chicago and they told me they don’t charge by the hour, well, nobody had told me they don’t charge by the hour. I was expecting a $150 an hour or something and it was ridiculous, it didn’t even make any sense. He was here for an hour and a half and it was $700 and change. That was awful but the work was fine. I waited for weeks, they canceled three, or four times on me before they even came, which I read was their common practice as well. I took a day to be at home and they called saying they can’t be out because they are very, very busy for a couple of more days and they rescheduled three times on me. Then when they finally came in, I was very pleased with the job, he was polite but when he gave me the bill, I almost died but I wrote him a check.

They are the best, we always call them. They are always here within a half an hour. They are kind, they do good work.

They came promptly on a holiday when we were due to have a lot of guests, when no one else would. They had the latest equipment and knew what they were doing. They explained and showed us a root blockage, they cleared it and recommended a fix. They were clean and efficient. Their price for emergency clearing the line was reasonable considering the Holiday, but the price they gave us to later on replace the old section of piping where the root had grown in was absurd. We got it done for 1/10 of their quote.
