Did an excellent job

The owner, Carlos, quickly came out and gave me an estimate for the work. He also quickly revised the estimate after we added several items including the garage doors. The men who came to the house were very nice and professional. They came every morning as promised and stayed late in the day to finish the job in a timely manner. They are very professional. The quality of their work was exceptional. I would highly recommend them and plan to use them to do some additional work on the inside of the house.

We are very pleased with the final product, and feel it is the best exterior painting job we have had done on our home. (Two prior painting companies worked on it; one twelve years ago, one seven years ago.) Carlos and his crews are extremely easy to work with, punctual and dedicated, unfailingly courteous, and seem to genuinely enjoy their work and working with one another. We have already requested proposals for interior painting work. The exterior quote was competitive, and we worked through a mis-understanding regarding a color our satisfaction and Carlos'. We hate to post this review, because we do not want to share such an excellent vendor!

Carlos Real came to the house and walked around with me to hear my concerns and study the job. He was very clear about what the finished product would look like based on what I was asking him to do. We decided to go with his bid because he provided a clear schedule of when he could start the work and seemed to understand exactly what we wanted done. His bid was neither the cheapest nor most expensive. His workers were extremely friendly and professional. The time they spent working on some of the details of the house was impressive. They kept us updated of their progress and included us in decisions concerning wood work that needed to be done due to rot. Our experience with Real Painting was excellent overall. We have had other painters in the area do work for us and have had many bid projects. We will definitely use Real Painting again moving forward.

Everything was done well--neatly and on time. Carlos was great to work with and I would hire him for future work.

I am thrilled with the results. Pros: 1. returned initial inquiry immediately. Scheduled a time for estimate and showed up promptly. 2. Provided all materials. 3. Asked questions to ensure he took care of details in a manner that I wanted. 4. Was here with his employees at start and finish of job. He was easy to contact during the day. 5. After one coat of red on door and shutters, I asked employee to stop. I called Carlos and said it was close, but not right color. He was not nearby, and I was happy to run to hardware store and pick up a quart of color I wanted. First coat didn't need to be repeated since it was close. Employee was very professional, positive, and patient. He spent a longer day here because of the change, but never complained. 6. My lawn and working area remained clean and neat all day long. At the end of the day you would never have known that anyone had been working at my house. 7. IT LOOKS WONDERFUL!!!!!! 8. I was asked if I was willing to have a sign displayed for one week. I was happy to say yes and was very appreciative of the courtesy taken in asking first. 9. During painting, Carlos asked if we could walk around rest of the house. He offered to do power washing on the rest of the house. SInce I had been wanting this done and had planned to rent a power washer, we discussed my stone decking, pool area, and back steps also. He offered a fair price $350 and timing prior to my planned party. It felt great to have another thing off my "to do" list. There was NO pressure, just an offer I was left to think about. 10. The employee who washed, did my picnic table (now it's all ready for me to stain), pool basketball hoop, deck boxes, as well as gutters at 2nd floor level and all outside walls and windows. IT LOOKS WONDERFUL!! Not cons...but things I noticed: 1. Given rainy weather, he was a few weeks behind getting to us, but made it in plenty of time before date of a party we had given him. 2. Shutters weren't removed prior to power washing, so when they came down for painting it was a bit dirty behind them. Carlos noticed this and acknowledged to us that this was something that should have been done. I wasn't worried about it, but will plan ahead for this next time we paint. 3. Front steps were painted all gray, when they had white and gray alternating previously. In all fairness, we had already sanded and I doubt the original coloring was noticeable. I didn't specify to have it done that way. It looks great now, so not worried! 4. Employees speak English, but to varying degrees, but it was not a concern as Carlos is bilingual and all communication was handled effectively. I am VERY PLEASED with the work. I will gladly hire Real Painting again, for both interior and exterior work!

The house (three stories) had several layers of old paint, some peeling, some areas were sanded a few years back; older paint layers contained lead. We were looking for a company that was trained in removing lead paint safely, using Hepa filter vacuum as needed. Carlos provided us with a detailed estimate that included completely shaving two sides of the house and spot sanding the front where necessary (the back has siding). All three sides were primed and painted, the shutters, window trims and the garage door were painted in a different color. The windows were sealed around the frames. Everything happened within the time frame proposed with no problems. In the future I would however have this kind of work done either very early in the spring or late in the fall to protect the trees and plant around the house somewhat.

All work was carried out in a professional and business-like manner with useful appropriate advice and recommendations offered by experienced and knowledgeable staff. All e-mail and telephone communications were responded to very promptly. We were very impressed with how much attention and time was spent on preparation prior to painting. The workmen were friendly and diligent in cleaning up after completion of the work. They were flexible about working around our time schedule and the schedule of the carpenter who was doing exterior remedial work. The quality of the work was excellent.

Real Painting was a pleasure to work with. I had been searching for a painter since March, 2011 and only hired Real in late May, 2011 after interviewing about 10 companies. I was immediately impressed that Carlos (Real's owner) responded immediately to my calls and emails and got me a complete quote right away. It's shocking how rare these basic business requirements are met by service companies. During the job, Carlos was a text message away and was on site nearly every day. It sounds like it wasn't that big a job -- but once they started, it turned out to be more than they thought. Nonetheless, they did the work they'd contracted to do at the price they agreed to do it for.Some of the more impressive things I remember from this job: => The creativity of Carlos's carpenter who fashioned new crown moldings for an exterior window by sight (they look great) => Saving me the cost of replacing windows because the frames were rotted by using filler (I know this won't last long, but it was extra service, looks fine and postpones the inevitable) => Putting three coats of paint on a deck because Carlos saw it was high-traffic and it was the right thing to do. Real's workers were great people, too. I remember one guy whose English wasn't all that great getting all excited and motioning for me to come over. He parted a bush to show me a nest of chicks (robins, I think). These guys worked hard but left our yard and house spotless every day at the end of the job for the nearly two weeks (elapsed) it took to do the work. Personally, I think Angie's List is kinda of a scheme to get people to do their editorial work for them and pay for the privilege. But in this case, I can enthusiastically recommend Real Painting to anyone who wants a quality job at a fair price from great people who keep their commitments.

The owner worked to fit me into his schedule given my timeline for the project, having his team work mostly evenings and weekends. While I appreciate the effort, managing this became tedious after a while since the project took 3-4 weeks. The quality of the work was excellent however his team scratched my antique hardwood floors and in an attempt to remedy the damage covered the scratches with Polyeurathane (sp?) which only draws more attention to the damage since its now shinier than the rest of the floor.
